- Red Bull has released a new video that shows how the X2010 (aka X1 prototype) was transformed from a Gran Turismo 5 fixture into a full-scale model.
Built by Industrial Design Consultancy, the real life X2010 features individually milled sections and a design created by Red Bull's Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey.
While the mock up doesn't have a powertrain, the virtual X2010 has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that produces 1500 PS (1103 kW / 1479 hp) and 714 Nm (527 lb-ft) of torque. This immense power in combination with a fan that creates a suction effect with immense downforce allows the futuristic car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 1.4 seconds, 0-200 mph (322 km/h) in 6.1 seconds, and onto a top speed of 280 mph (450 km/h). Lateral acceleration can reach 8.75G - at the very limit of what the human body can withstand.
This car is an absolute marvel. The fan technology paired up with Newey aerodynamics have created a monster! 615kg - 1450 bhp :)) This also proves that a proper v6 turbo can sound great too! But thats a 3000cc 15k rpm.... Of course an average of 6g on track is prohibitive, the smallest mistake and you die no matter how safe the track is. If the top G doesn't kill you first.. I prefer the looks of this car compared to F1s, compared to ANY car really. The most fascinating thing is this car creates huge amounts of grip even in slow corners because of the Fan tech
This is the F1 without Bernie Ecclestone.
+HMHD Lol, this is far from death and it's way not too fast.
***** Maybe I don't have to build one if I ask you what do you mean under "too fast" and I will explain it.
***** 8.25 G is the max cornering speed of it. Red Bull Air Racers often has 12 G. Drivers wouldn't able to push it as hard as a current F1, but they could get used to it.
@@mateagoston7113 air racers...
So the F1 without Bernie Ecclestone is a shit now
wow, i didn't know that they actually built it! Im much more impressed now as I thought it was just purely virtual, in which case they could just "say" it can go at 600 kph or something and then it would.
Its just the chassis without proper tech
I believe this car will exist and complete laps by the end of this decade.
I hate to break it to you...
@@dylanparker-stephenson5533 it's probably possible
Just the most beautiful car in the world. Those carbon fiber upper and lower control arms are just amazing to look at as well. Thats gonna be in the history books for sure.
The genius behind Red Bull recent years success, what a legend this man is.
I remember red bull at Thai and hmong restruants back in the 80s before they got bought out
a few laps in an actual working one would be possible but the wear on your neck would cause you to black out
Not really,its all about practice,at least is what jet pilots say...they can reach 9gs.
There could be proper suits to drive it.
An f1 car and a LeMans prototype had a child. They had this.
Yes!!! it has to be built into a full race series now!
This vehicle will be far more entertaining when used in two ways:
1) Remote-control operation by drivers in sim pods, because I'm pretty sure the G forces alone would knock drivers out
2) Autonomous driving. Not only would this reduce the risk of deaths to zero despite such intense engineering, but eventually it would help to improve self-driving vehicle technology as these supercars learn to drive at their full physical capabilities.
no one would watch that
@@WigSplitters But it would make great R&D field data. And what does good R&D do? Churn out newer, more fun tech
@gp75motorsports No, Turnbull is right, the throttle readout is indicating TCS intervention. However, there's not a single F1 driver on the cricuit that doesn't use TCS, for various reasons.
I'm not a betting man, but if this car was introduced into the F1 world, the sport would gain an entire new legion of fans. Along with adventurous leaps and bounds in science, technology, and engineering in order for man (drivers) to tame these beasts.
and dead or crippled drivers. this thing is too dangerous
@@Saldutiskis you hit the car in the wall and then BOOM you are fucked up.
@DJGTFO What are you, a aerodynamics expert? There are cars with a fan engine before. The air sucked underneath wouldn't increase or decrease, it would stay the same the whole time. So you can actually go around corners at faster speeds.
@Niyologist read the description its says that its made to go to the highest amount of G's a Human can endure so it would be possible to drive just you wouldd need to train for it.
Finally something that can stop Mercedes domination
New racing series “The X1 Race”
All drivers dead within 3 races
If this car is gonna be anything like it is in Gran Turismo 5, a new era of automobiles will begin...
@MapleSV if the 'fan', for suction is efficient enough, and built in such way that it also generates more weight in the rear, also at the start, then it might work, but then it'll need to be connected to the engine or drivetrain, which will make the construction much more complex, and inevitably heavier, which might effect the performance.
It has to be optimised in such way that it does not create to much downforce in the start, but reacts to the throttle or something.
Proud owner of that wheel.
I can't believe they actually built this car
Nothing is impossible.
@SurvivorFirst actually, 50G is survivable... how many G's do you think a driver experiences when hitting a wall sideways? I know I've smacked a wall at over 100mph sideways after biffing a corner, the black box (data recorder) had a transient reading of 78 Gs
WOW!!!!! I NEVER KNEW THE X1 WAS MADE OF WOOD!!
I hope red bull
put this into production at some point
congrats on your win last week vittel.. :D third is better than fourth..
haha mark webber's reaction is just like wtf is this insanity
@fizzer82 thanks for the back-up... it was actually an oblique hit in my case, and let me tell you, 3inch seat-belt sure do stretch (and leave bruises!!!) when you hit like that... NOT something I would like to repeat!
Now that they've built a scale model, they should build an engine, and fully realize this car's potential in the real world, sure, it would take fighter pilot training to be able to withstand the g-forces, but if there was a sanctioned race series for x cars like this one, it would be awesome
@Oockeshoek From '83 to '89, Honda produced 1.5L V6 twin turbo engines for Formula 1. The RA168E, the last of the breed, produced over 1000ps@12500rpm during qualifying and detuned to 700 during race. The X2010 uses an engine with double displacement of 3L with twin turbo, easily producing over 1500ps @ 15000rpm. Modern F1 engine outputs are nerfed by the FIA. X2010 has a modest power output to provide power while still being relatively reliable. It can be stronger, the technology is there
Omg if that car is not the future of F1 racing I will DIE..
The song that starts at 2:00 is called Leiana - Dirty Car
I was hoping someone would say in the comments... thankyou! :)
@ what is the name of the first music on the begging of the video?
@Powertampa it's 8 lateral g which is borderline for the human body
Because the Veyron's engine has to be drivable in normal traffic and has to be able to do so for more than one race. This car (if built) most definitely does not have to take part in regular traffic and is built for one purpose only, to go as fast as possible and probably for one race only, after which it will have to be checked and rebuilt
F1 need this. Period.
@mrmadd001 There is a fan underneath the car witch sucks the air out from underneath the car. The result is a high amount of downforce produced at a stand still.
What is the name of the song at 2:00
the song at 2:00 is called Dirty Remix-mike Elizondo Leiana - Topic
What about the first one in the beginning of the video?
@pcatp well they could use one of those special suits that can resist that much speed, I think they used it for that one car that went 700 miles per hour
I was kind of hoping it'd retain its 4 cyl motor as per the gt6 soundtrack... but that said... that is awesome! How about an inline 5 cyl so it evokes the sounds of the v10s of yesteryear?
@Powertampa
It's survivable, just not for a very long time. Fighter pilots and top fuel dragster drivers hit those kinds of numbers but not for extended periods of time. The blood drains from the brain and almost literally suffocates. Pressure suits and techniques exist to combat extreme g's but it's not practical to do over the course of the 2 hours of an f1 race.
the song is dirty car (remix) from leiana : )
What i want to know is where they got these specs, 1483bhp out of a 3L v6??????
what is the material the body is made out of? cus that looked like wood...
@danzigloco i wasnt really thinking when i commented the first time, i was thinkin in terms of american car, muscle power v8's. but a very small v8, such as the size you mentioned, would be alright. I think they just use a 6 for the weight factor, sometimes is not as efficient to have those extra 2 cylinders if they bring too much weight and not enough power...
this guy looked at all advancements in physics and engineering and gave it a giant middle finger
@kayu38
The car is "under constrution", they've only made models of it, its not actually made or working as they want it to be. In other words its not as fast as they want it to be... :)
The dude have a lot of pressure, horde of players want him to win so we can download this new car for GT5 !
Wow, this is pretty cool to watch, still would be nice if they built an actual working car! Oh well, it's close enough, and looks awesome!
Is that model of X1 is ready to drive?
De tune it slightly. Remove that fan from the rear and you might have something that could race in the "real world". I'd love to see Red Bull build a working prototype of this and run it up the hill at Goodwood...
Or enter LeMans
Why should they remove the fan? Do you think that it is fake? It was actually used on a F1 car 1978. It was banned, beacuse it was too good.
Look it up on google or something! "F1 car 1978"
raskemenn4444
,it was very unsafe too ,people didnt like the fact the fan was like a blender on the chapparal 2j,depends where and at what angle the fan is i guess,but large spinning blades attacted to a car are a no no
-GA- Mancsfinest As long as it`s at the rear end of the car and no one overtakes it should be fine. Relax XD
No, but I understand the problem. As long as they make the car in some way I won`t complain ;)
raskemenn4444
,sounds like exciting racing,lol 8-0
no, the g-forces would be crazy for a car, imagine going round a sharp corner at 200mph
this car drives so good!!!
How many laps do ya reckon you could do before blacking out?
best car ever ever exist is a monster!
@DJGTFO that why it's call a "fan car" so it ca go that fast in corners. there only have been to cars like that in history and they both were banned after the first race.
so its a front engine front wheel drive car?
@MrAnnihilated it has 1500hp how much more do you want?
@Discofreestyle Actually they are just around 700 horsepower in the F1 cars
@mattman937 Thats vertical g force, so something completely different on what you get in this machine.
i hate when people say this is a fake car just because they don't believe it can do what they say it can do.
@Oockeshoek This question bothers me as well , how can a normal aspirated 3 L V6 engine produce 1500 HP? It's mental , the bugatti w16 8L has 1200 bhp, but it has 4 turbos and it's 8L..... mad!!!
@castorabc9
is duping copying your data to a external hdd then recopying it back?
@Powertampa Na, a trained young man can do 11 horizontal G for 60 seconds and be just fine although passed out.. US air force used to do that out in area 51 with rocket sleds using horizontal Gs. One guy did over 50 Gs for several seconds.
The hard part about this car would be staying alert while being knocked around and pulled about so much. I would think the winner in this type of car would be a real athlete.
This is what the Formula 1 car looks like in 2020 and beyond
1483 hp 3 litre engine ? 0_o
What is it running on ?
@BadAssDownUnder101 it's just crazy though, how much a V6 can do.
@Juzh123
youre absolutely right. i released i added one too many zeros
I'm the 7th person asking for the song title (tried Shazam and the like, with no results...), if you know the title you'll get a ton of thumbs up!
@Powertampa
The stig has an x2010 and goes to the park in it to feed the ducks
@castorabc9
and btw, i have piled up a great amount of cr.s actually it will soon be enough to buy a f1 i have heard that f10 has higher hp compared to f2007 which one would you recommend, if you have used them both, if not would you recommend me buying f10?
whats that pink stuff they used to model the car?
@castorabc9
lol cool way of thinking then how do you get back the data? do you erase data in ps3 after ending the car?
is it like...drivable I mean its probably not like the game but is it drivable at all?
because if its not why isn't it?
I mean you don't have to have a million hp or anything just something so its drivable
can you imagine seeing this as a kid in a parade?
Too much cornerspeed results in the driver suffering from fatal acceleration pulling all of their blood out of the brain.
@@PragmaticAntithesis which is why i say they should remove the driver cockpit and replace it with something that can turn it effetively into a giant remote control car
they should build it with everything (enginge etc.) and then drive it with a remote control.
Yes i get it , but how did they manage to get that much power out of a 3L normal aspirated engine?That is my question
someone knows the name of the program that he designs the X1 prototype 2010 model? It seems the last version of Catia
@NovaScene it is legitly real but it is still being modded to live up the computer models.
Did that thing just say V6?
@tohtorigyro I just thougt you couldn't, since the 800 bhp F1's had V10's and the Veyron has 16 cylinders
@radu10101992
Its twin turbo, and it revs to high hell (15000rpm)
@Tastyigor very hight octane petrol and I think that`s possible because in 2013, formula 1 will be limited to 1.6 litter and they will choke out 750 hp
this one is gonna haul ass
...its easy to drive...uhhmm, I dont think so.
if you try to go as fast as possible no but thanks to it's mechanical grip and huge aero downforce then it's not that hard to lose control
Actually it is easy to drive, you just have to get used to the speed
is this actually a real car? or just something they've thought was possible to make and put it in gt5?
Oh shit that can be the coolest thing ever, to drive a car with 2000+ hp and a sucking fan at the back. Made for regular people that want to save in fuel.
Actually it has like 1400 horsepower
@Oockeshoek its f1 they dont use regular production engines like most ppl
@ghosthunter2006 that his the real model?
but.......will it blend?
@MyTennis2009 Thats vertical g forces and not horizontal g force, i do my research!
@SurvivorFirst Actually the human body can easily survive dozens of instantaneous Gs. Race car crashes are often in the 15-50 range or more. Here's a quote regarding a NASCAR crash: "If during the impact, you’re 25 to 30 Gs or under, we consider that to be a moderately low impact,” said Sicking, who had not yet received any information on Gordon’s hit from NASCAR when we talked earlier this week. "If you’re anywhere above 30, that’s a hard hit.”
The highest survived decel was ~180Gs. google it
i have no idea what the model consist of, but yeah, i'd guess it would be much heavier (even though still damn light)
posibbly this is what F1 cars that will be looked like in the 2 centuries later
Is this car faster than F1 cars?
Hum... Dont think... 420km/h. Neh, I dont think is faster...
To compare this to an F1 car would be to compare an F1 car to a Formula Renault.
1:46 the awkward moment when mark webber rocks up and realises theres no gt5 events named after him
@BadAssDownUnder101 it dont take that long actually, all you need to do are the seasonal events.
i got 3mill and got from lvl 22 to lvl 25 in 3 days.
You could throw twin turbos on it and maybe change a few other things, but it just seems a bit far-fetched. I could see getting it to maybe 1000hp, but that extra 500hp would be hard to squeeze out.
3 litre V6??? wasn't it turbine powered?
a bit confused here - i can't find anything at all on youtube on this car that isn't a fake simulator. is this real or not?
i think the made a model of the car but idk if the model car is capable of driving as it is currently situated
I had to watch this twice because it is so shocking
How the hell did they get 1,500 bhp out of a V6?
Don't get it: 3.0L V6 with 1503HP? Why has no one ever did that before?
