THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!! I was doing this with iron-on stabilizer first and cutting first, as per other RUclipsrs. This way to start is soooooo much easier! I wanna do applique again, now. The other way made me want to give up!
Glad I could help! I'm surprised others are telling to cut first? The patterns are usually made with the placement stitch and cutting stitch for this reason. Even if there aren't two, you can always just back up and stitch the same one again. con weist it is lots of fun I shared this with my group on fb Stitchaholics Anonymous designs for fun so others would see how easy . for over 14 yrs I embroidered but never appliqued Now I love it
I too thank you for this video, I also am very intimidated by the embroidery machine. I need to get the spray adhesive and embroidery scissors (I've already downloaded a pattern), then I can get started. Thanks again very informative for a beginner! :)
Finally, you have the same embroidery machine I do. I was about to purchase the same stabilizer from Amazon. How do you like it and what needle do you recommend to use with this machine? Lastly, what brand of tear away stabilizer do you use?
Hi Ola! I love my Innovis 4000D. I hope you love yours too! I love to use Sulky stabilizers but they can be pricey. Sometimes at Joann, I can get some stabilizers on sale or when they have 50% off a single cut, which makes it a good bargain. But this isn't Sulky brand. I have purchased Sulky stabilizers through Amazon many times also. I always use Schmetz needles usually something like embroidery needles 90/14 size. I have a functionality series of videos you may be interested in here, www.needlepointers.com/main/youtubecontent.aspx?RUclipsPageID=98. At what point in the video did the machine do the quilting to make the diamond patter type of groove? I saw it twice and missed both times.. thank you!
Hi Claudia! I didn't show every step in the stitching because that would just be redundant. It would have stitched that sometime between finishing the tack down of the fabrics but before the satin stitches which finish the edges. The machine stops after each color so you can change threads if needed. Hope this helps. Happy Stitching!
+Kasey Perkins Hi. Thanks for the question! When doing machine applique, you do not need to put any stabilizer on the applique pieces. You do have stabilizer behind the main piece of fabric though. This is enough to stabilize everything. I hope you enjoyed our video. Please be sure to "Like" and to subscribe to our channel for more videos!
Thank you, I believe this is where the problems I am having lies, my needle starts to get gummed up about halfway through and then the thread starts to tangle on the bottom and pulls the fabric down into the machine or creates birds nest.
Hi! Embroidery machines use designs which can be transferred to the machine usually through a USB drive. The design/pattern tells the machine where to put the stitches and when to stop for the next color. You should be able to purchase patterns and for your machine you use the .JEF format. Hope this helps!
Hi! In order to use your embroidery machine to embroider around the cut out letters, you would need a pattern made for those letters. If you have letters already cut out of fabric, I would recommend using this video tutorial on how to sew them down: ruclips.net/video/mL9UCS5AYW8/видео.html. Happy Sewing!
+freetosewandcraft1 Thanks for watching our video and your question! This pattern comes on a CD-ROM. I copied the files from the CD to my PC and to my USB stick I use in the embroidery machine. I have a video on how to copy files to your USB drive for using in your machine: ruclips.net/video/cgCjXuDLL9E/видео.html. Most embroidery machines will either hook directly to your PC or use a USB stick for loading patterns. I prefer to use the USB stick.
Thank you. I have a Babylock Elmore Plus. I have to do the same thing. I wish I would have looked around more. I like your machine better, especially the way you lock the hoop in.
