I grew up in Oakland and saw quite a few concerts at Berkeley Community and Zellerbach. I was a high school senior in '69 when a buddy and I cut classes to check out the People's Park demonstrations on Bloody Thursday and got caught up in a police sweep/mass arrest. I started at UC Berkeley that Fall and lived through the ROTC and Cambodian Incursion riots. I watched the 1970 draft lottery on TV in the Student Union with great apprehension. Memorable times...
Those little brief conversations to people you obviously don't know are hilarious! Lol... you are plum crazy and I love it! Just subscribed!! My E-Cells 5 Star Dual battery arrives today!
That fact that you could get from the Bay Bridge to Telegraph & Bancroft without getting your bikes jacked is amazing🍻 Hey you passed right by blondie's and didn't stop for a slice🤷♂️
The bridge of terror thing. Yeah, when there's not enough room to get over, and you're going 10-15 mph below the flow of traffic, it's excruciating waiting for people to pass you. Especially when you have mirrors and you can see them slowly creeping up. People act like it's some super complex Jigsaw horror movie challenge.
Awesome ride! I'm in Fresno and used to come up to San Fran before the craziness. ( Don't like getting human poo in my fat tire treads. ) I would not ride that route alone, but on a group ride with the formidable leader of the Chitheads, I'd feel a little safer!
I’m amazed that you did this all on this bike of yours. I grew up in Montclair. Good times. Strongly considering this bike. Stopped at their booth at the Electric Expo last weekend. Was on my paper route when the earthquake happened. Had stopped at a friend’s at the moment of the earthquake and were high five each other during the quake lol.
Thanks for the memories. Ive driven over that bridge a few times in High school I took my friends from Hoopa to Bezerkly "comic" book shops [yup someones a nerd in this car] ;) Orinda! Walnut creek, Spitzburg, antioch - been there a few times too have friends n relatives in that area. Its a lot different than is was in the 80's - I do miss the good ole days on telegraph ave - oh well and Jeff is in the Eureka area the last time I heard of him.
Battle of the Bay!!! My friend and I had just made it to the lot there at Candlestick when it hit. Took us a day 1/2 to get back home in Sacramento. Was a terrifying experience.
Oh man, did they give you guys refunds or were your tickets good for the replacement game? I have a coworker that was at the game as well. You must have had to take the golden gate bridge back?
I just rode my e-bike from the Oakland Hills all the way to treasure island and back yesterday. I’m looking for people to bike with, so we should link bro 😂
Beautiful ride bro! I'm from Oakland. I went to Pinole Valley High School. I did a lot of "acoustic" cycling as a teenager. I moved to the PHX area in 93 and stayed. I now have a carbon fiber Fuji and an Aventon ebike. Been looking at this Ecells bike for a while but still haven't pulled the trigger because of the weight. Tell me about that and also how you can stay in Cali with a Gavin Newscum theme environment!?
I’m amazed that you did this all on this bike of yours. I grew up in Montclair. Good times. Strongly considering this bike. Stopped at their booth at the Electric Expo last weekend. Was on my paper route when the earthquake happened. Had stopped at a friend’s at the moment of the earthquake and were high five each other during the quake lol. At times it looked when you were going 28 m.p.h. or more there was some significant “ghost pedaling”. Or was that not the case?
I think the gearing is actually one of his only gripes with the five star being setup to let you pedal along at 35+mph no gohsting if you want but it is not as great at letting you pedal yourself up steeper hills without reliing 100% on the motor to push you up. Kinda a give and take and this leans on the high speed side of the scale if i understand right. He on his last five-star switched the rear gear casette stack for one with a larger biggest gear and that helped. I plan to do the same mod when i recieve my bike at hopefully the end of this week...
@@psavar97Good to know. At the Expo Gator had mentioned that after 28 m.p.h. one may start to notice ghost pedaling. I wouldn’t have the knowledge to do what you said, but I’m sure a bike shop could do it(granted many of them don’t want to work on other than their own). Even though I could only ride up to 20 m.p.h. there even at that speed I felt the difference with the torque sensor. Just not majorly.
@@psavar97I just viewed again where he was in the lowest gear and had to stop. Granted I couldn’t 100% tell how steep that was, but him saying he was using the throttle and lowest gear and not being able to make it 😮. That’s concerning. Oh well can’t expect a 100+ lbs bikes can’t do everything 😢😂
That is one great ride from San Francisco to Antioch. And it wasn't all street. You took a bunch of off-road trails. Amazing. Looks like you did Power Level 3 all the way. Can you post a link to your route? I don't think I have the courage to try it, but wanted to see specific streets and trails you took.
Avoid this company! Here is the conversation I had with David Cleveland regarding my order! His exact response after I told him I was going to report him to the FTC was "Ok I appreciate your candor. I'm at your mercy." Nothing about stealing my money or giving me back what was owed to me. He originally agreed to a refund and here is his exact phrase that he texted me after I requested a refund. "Will talk to Rachel". (this is the office manager). "She agreed". "You are banned from ever buying from me again. Good luck in biking adventures. God bless you." This was followed with a video of a Wired step through that someone is shaking to imitate the wobble. I was not going to purchase the step through so it wasn't even a comparable bike. Also, he banned me from purchasing bikes he doesn't have and can't get. That's why I filed with the FTC for the two bikes I ordered. Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully avoid going through what I have.
Wow, that’s some excellent range. What a ride. Speaking of range, did you ever get the 2nd battery for your Motor Goat V3? And does the 2nd battery also come with a 2nd charger?
I ordered the first gen 2nd battery and it was shipped but ended up going back to GOAT because it was labeled wrong. Turns out that was a blessing in disguise because now there is a 2nd gen battery available which is 50ah which I switched my order to. I believe it will come with a huge 14amp charger, but I will know more in the next few weeks once it arrives.
@@shootthechit 50ah, that’s huge. It’s not listed on their website yet. What’s the price for that 50ah battery? Edit: Nevermind. I just saw it on their website. It wasn’t listed last week.

I’ve ridden from emeryville to treasure island and then ferry to embarcadero, then over golden gate up to Marin and back on the other ferry, another good ride. The port of Oakland thing is an urban legend, though, they’re just based on elephants. Have you tried taking the dual star up the summit trail on Mount Diablo? (Not the asphalt, the dirt) there’s a few sections with a 25% grade. The bike I tried it with crapped out after a mile of climb and I had to huff it back to Diablo Vista. That was some work on a toasted e-bike.
@jasonx7803 I have gone up the fire trails to the top of Mt Diablo but on my Soecialized Turbo Levo, I wouldn't attempt it on a hub drive ebike. I might do the ferry to SF at some point and do a loop around the city. I used to take BART or park but not a fan of either of those options these days
Yeah fair, I was doing it on a mid drive, but they sent an incompatible chainring with it (which I managed to work around by inverting the inner sprocket) but I had already ground down some of the casing with the original mounting. I don’t want to call out the manufacturer since this might not be an issue caused by them (the retailer offered a smaller chainring as an option and I wanted the torque, but it was meant for a smaller motor of theirs, not a supported config. Retailer admitted they shouldn’t have sold it that way, so they say they’re gonna fix/replace it, we’ll see) Once I get another I may try again but that’s gonna be a while. :/
I noticed far less chain rattle than your original Five Sar had. Any changes to the bike, or just different audio? Perhaps my years of wearing a headset have irreparably damaged my hearing... I have not seen Jeff.
