Barc organizes and smartly fetches important barcodes. They’re all over the place. Concert tickets. Reward cards. Gym memberships. Library cards. Weird payment systems. Barc keeps them all in one place, and helps you find them right when you need them.
Everything in its place.
Many barcodes you need to use regularly don’t already have a nice place on your phone to keep it. Barc can save barcodes from anywhere, whether it’s another app, a website, an e-mail, or even just a piece of plastic.
Finders keepers.
Hoarding every barcode in your life doesn’t help if you can’t easily find the one you need. With Barc, you can tag barcodes with relevant locations and dates, and Barc will highlight them when the time is right.
Saving made simple.
Most apps for tracking barcodes require the company that gave you the barcode to already have an app. Barc thinks you should be able to add any barcode you come across. Scan physical barcodes with your camera. Save images from websites or e-mails. If all else fails, Barc even allows you to add barcodes just by taking a screenshot. Barc supports QR codes, UPC, and EAN-13 barcodes. More formats are always being added!
Always close at hand.
Barc is built to integrate closely with the iPhone ecosystem. Add barcodes to your home screen for quick and easy access based on your current Focus. Build custom workflows in Shortcuts to make barcodes available from Siri or the Action Button. Sync your barcodes across devices with iCloud. Use Barc on Apple Watch to have your barcodes handy, even when you don’t have your phone.
Your barcodes. Not ours.
Barc keeps your private data private. Your barcodes are kept on your device and in iCloud; we don’t see them (and we don’t want to). We don’t share any of your personal information or shopping habits with third parties. See Barc’s full privacy policy at getbarc.app/privacy for more information.
Unleash Barc’s full potential.
Download Barc today and get started in seconds. Barc allows you to save up to 3 barcodes for free. If you need more, try Barc Unleashed with a free 2-week trial to save unlimited barcodes.

I was incredibly disappointed to see a subscription model for this. There is no reason software like this should require more than a one-time purchase. I'd be willing to pay $20 for this upfront, but never a subscription.
and considering google wallet does this already for free...
I’ve come around more to subscriptions. My assumption is that they allow developers to make a living at what they do best and that they incentivize regular updates and improvements.
I simply can’t agree more. Subscription is OK, but not for everything.
Everything has to have a subscription at this point
It’s not worth it. Maybe like 1 dollar a month subscription. Anything more is just greedy.
Don't usually click on random low view videos on my feed but this looks really good, hope it goes well!
Thanks for taking a chance on this one! 😃
the low view videos are always the hidden gems, and they support smaller creators bruh you gotta watch them.
You should do it more often! These days most videos in this site are either AI slop or soulless high production brainrot. Small and genuine creators are great to watch and we often could interact with them too 😊
Same. Downloaded!
I love the minimalism and simplicity. There's one thing I'm missing - I think it would be practical to be able to bump up the brightness quickly by clicking on the barcode, since the scanners sometimes don't want to pick up the code on low brightness due to screen reflections. Otherwise, I enjoy the app so far!
I can’t believe I forgot this one, since it’s in the version I built just for myself back in 2020. 🤦♂️ It’ll be in the next version.
The icon & branding is simply genius! Makes me giggle! Congratulations and best wishes
Glad to hear it! I’m not much of a graphic designer, but I’m pretty happy with how the icon turned out for this one.
I think it would better if we could add the bar codes in Barc to the Wallet app!! That would be more convenient!
Coming *very* soon! It just ended up being more work than I thought for the first release.
Looks great and I love the idea, but I'm done with Subscriptions. I'd rather pay for it once, until you make a major update and it's worth me upgrading.
I get where you’re coming from, but “major updates” aren’t really a thing on the App Store anymore. People want new features as soon as possible. Saving things for a major update that I can charge money for just means that I’ve built something that people want but I’m not giving it to them for selfish reasons.
That said, if you like the style of the app I built, but *really* hate subscriptions, check out my other two apps: Black Highlighter (blackhighlighter.app) and Kineo (kineo.app), both of which are one-time payments. Black Highlighter has been around for 7 years with only its one purchase, and Kineo has a history of 16 years with only two “versions” that were charged for. Barc is just me seeing what it’s like to get paid more than once a decade. 😅
Apologies if you’re getting this reply twice, RUclips seems to have eaten my original one…
Unfortunately, the idea of “major updates” isn’t really a thing on the App Store any more. Developers are expected to deliver features as soon as possible, on a regular basis. If I wait and don’t publish features until I have enough to make a major version update that I can charge for, it means I have the ability to make the app better, and I’m just not doing it for selfish reasons.
I totally get people having subscription fatigue, though, so if you like my style, but don’t like subscriptions, check out my other apps, linked in the video description. Both of them are one-time purchases.
@@cocoatype Understand from dev point of view. But make it more flexible such as maybe one dollar for another 5 codes.
Don’t tell anyone I told you this, but Barc lets you keep any barcodes you add while subscribed, so you can kind of fake this by subscribing for one month ($1), immediately cancelling, and then adding as many barcodes as you’d like for that one month.
@@cocoatype thank you. Will definitely recommend your app to my friends (but not the tricks)
One suggestion: to be able to change the square icon for each qr to custom image, instead of just displaying qr image. So it is faster for the user to find which QR they want
If you think I’m going to download this app even though I have absolutely NO current use for it AT ALL
You are sorely correct
10/10
Haha, excellent! Thanks for the download! 🤍
Normally dont watch videos from small creators like this but ik how it feels making a new product and wanting to give it out to the world... Good luck!
Much appreciated!
oooh you should add an nfc tag feature! W app idea 🔥
Ooh… I like it. Can you e-mail me at hello@cocoatype.com with any further info you have about how that might work?
Being able to automatically bring up the needed barcode based on location is a nice touch
Yep, and I’m hoping to make it even smarter over time; it’d be great if the Home Screen widget could just give you the most important barcode all the time.
i’m glad you showed up on my feed. never have i ever downloaded an app so quick. i was searching for it on the app store as soon as your initial intro ended.
Awesome! I hope it lives up to your expectations!
Hey, congrats on your new app. The interface looks great. Something I have said before is similar to what you said in this quote, "It's a bit weird for me to be saying that this is an app I hope you don't use, but really I want Bark to work the way that you want to work, rather than you having to work the way Bark wants to work." I think this is a great philosophy for web and app developers. Ideally, the apps in the marketplace would work the best when you don't need to use them at all until it comes time to interact with them.
I think that's the best way for apps to work and it's how I build most of my apps to function. My free app, Debigulator… I use it at least once a day, but I don't think I've launched it for reasons other than development for *years*.
Dude “BARC” with the logo as a barcode dog is awesome 😂
Thanks! 🐶
Straightforward and useful just like apps used to be. Nicely done mate!
Thank you! 🤍
Not sure why RUclips recommended this video, but I’m not complaining! This looks awesome!
I’m not sure why it’s recommending it to as many people as it is either, but people seem to be enjoying it! 😅
Please make it a perpetual payment rather than subscription
I just watched this whole video even though I have no use for the app or even have an iPhone anymore 10/10
I can't be *that* compelling of a speaker, surely.
Well designed. Seems pretty niche, though. Maybe you can get patronage from retailers or libraries, that need to scan barcodes for special discounts and such
Yep, a bit niche, but the people who want something like it (read: me) *really* want something like it. Enough that I’ve been really thinking about this for almost 4 years now.
You can add expiration date for coupons, etc. and send alerts.
Expiration dates are on the roadmap! One of the things I use this app for the most is movie theater tickets, and so I want this feature myself so that I don’t have to delete them manually after seeing the movie.
Hey, leaving this comment so more people can see barc, I love it
🤍
Probably the best recommended video I’ve seen that’s actually useful
Awesome! Glad RUclips seems to have brought it to so many people's attention!
Its a great idea, not sure if it already exists but adding folders might be a nice quality of life thing for people who want to add a lot of barcodes
No folders yet, but I definitely plan on expanding the organization options in future updates.
Wow. Your professionalism and character genuinely shines through, clean, well-thought and a great use case. As someone who hopes to launch an app one day, incredible job. Best of wishes, wholly!! 🎉
Aww, thank you! Best of luck on your journey as well!
This is great! I love this nice app idea. I can’t think of any app like it!
Stocard. Stores all your cards like loyalty cards, library cards and so on. Basically every card that relies on a barcode. Has a nice UI, it’s fast and 100% free.
Thanks! I've been using a version of it that I built just for myself for a few years now, so it's definitely been pretty helpful to me. 😄
Yep, there are a few other apps like Barc, but none of them work quite the way I wanted, so I built my own. 🙂
Sorry but I would not change using wallet for this app just because it’s second nature to me to double tap the Siri button and have all my important cards there. Good luck out there!
Fair enough! I’m working on integrating this more with Apple Wallet in the future so that you can have the best of both worlds. As I say at the end of this video, I want Barc to work how *you* want it to, not force you to work how Barc wants to.
I usually just use my wallet app to add barcodes. But this app makes adding barcodes easier and more conveniently sorted out
I’m hoping to have closer integration with the wallet app in the future, so that you can use both for whichever is better at any given time. Like I say in the video, I want Barc to work the way *you* want to work, not the other way around.
please add an option to display the bar code full screen horizontally. Amazing app btw
Great idea, thanks! 🤍
Well done mate! I like the location based approach. I currently use Stocard which is very similar. Very handy type of apps to reduce cards in your wallet.
Perfectly done and well thought out. Cheers on building and launching this.
Thanks!
beautiful application. my suggestion would be to add more info for the each barcode. for example, as a shop owner, i would use this app to store my items in. when i would scan or enter the barcode number, i should also get the price of the item, last update of the price, model code of the item etc. just a little advice. keep up the good work!
I think the minimalist approach of this app is what makes it good. Less is more
I get where you're coming from, but isn't that the whole function of a dedicated point-of-service system that handles inventory, payments, all that stuff in one?
Yeah, unfortunately, as some of the sibling comments point out, I think this is more of a completely different app. Thanks for the enthusiasm and kind words, though!
This is fantastic. Thank you RUclips algorithm
I am now in both awe and fear of the RUclips algorithm.
Good idea, this will be big
That's the hope! 😄
This is great, I made a similar tool last year! I like the widget use, really makes it quick and easy which is what I was going for.
Awesome. Yeah, I love the widget; I can combine it with Focus-based Home Screens to pop up just what I want, when I want them.
Great idea and app, although I would not pay for subscription for this function. But one suggestion is you can make it iOS wallet style, probably more familiar UI .
Isn't it a reinventing the wheel? It should be built-in and somewhat automatic in the default's Wallet app AFAICR, and Google Wallet on Android.
I find both of those annoying in many ways and this is just exactly what I needed, I for one will be getting it
Yep, this is what caused me to build Barc! Apple Wallet just really wasn’t cutting it for me.
I’d love it if Apple was doing this, but they’re really not, as the other comment points out. Plans are for Barc to integrate more tightly with Apple Wallet soon-ish.
@@cocoatype "as the other comment points out" and "both are annoying in many ways" are very ambiguous. I would instead find it unnecessary to manually add my flight into Google Wallet, as Gmail does it for me automatically, etc.
Great work man, It was a nice intro to the app.
Thanks! I'm genuinely shocked at how well this video has been received!
Looks useful! i hope you make more of this
Gonna keep it going!
Believe it or not but I am actually working on the same idea 😅. Great work btw!
Awesome! If you'd like, drop into our iOS developer Discord (linked at the bottom of the video description) and I'm happy to help out with anything you run into that I might have already seen.
Nice! Straightforward and pretty useful!
That’s the goal; Barc should be as frictionless as possible to use. :)
Love it! Why does my membership QR code display differently from the original imported screenshot?
Is it possible to add wallet support in the future? I love having access to all my membership options there ❤
QR codes have different "mask patterns" that cause the QR to look differently to support error correction if the code is blurry or damaged. It seems Barc is probably just picking a different pattern than the one the original used. It should still scan to the exact same data, though.
And yes, Apple Wallet support is coming *very* soon.
This looks great, I'm going to download it! If I could feature request, adding a custom color to the bar codes (also in the coming Wallet-feature I read you were adding) would be amazing!
Thank you! Both of those features are now in the pipeline. Definitely way more people asking about the Wallet integration, though, so probably that one first. 😅
This is sick, gonna be big
I sure hope so!
Nice app! But could you please make regional pricing more accessible? In Turkey, an annual subscription costs 200 TRY, which is even more than $5 for US users
Yıllık 200 iyi gibi aslında ama
I’ll look into doing this. I’ll reply here when I have something going, or e-mail me at hello@cocoatype.com, and I’ll be able to update you as soon as I have it.
Sometimes people need to see the numbers that display under it also (or what the qr code decodes to) can this be a feature also please?
Yep, it’s on the roadmap. Can’t promise a timeline yet, but it’s been a common request.
Minimal and directly on point
That's the goal! 🤍
Chucks hop shop! You must be a Seattle guy..
how do rotating authentication barcodes work? i.e. LA fitness.
what I miss is wallet integration. I would love to have a way to generate wallet passes and use that and only use the app to generate them
Coming soon! Definitely the #1 requested feature in this comments section!
So you created a FOLDER? For storing photos of bar codes?
It stores the data and re-renders them at high quality, not photos. And it finds you codes based on time and location. And it integrates with Shortcuts. And Siri. And has a Home Screen widget. But other than that, yeah, basically just a folder to organize your bar codes in.
Can you also add integration for apple wallet ? Then we can double click the power button and instantly see the code
Working with Apple Wallet is definitely coming very soon! It just didn’t quite make it for the first version, but it was definitely part of the original plan.
Im not sure how you would do this, but a frequent problem I face is when I scan the barcodes of the food I eat in my macro nutrient tracker , sometimes I might loose the barcode etc so its much harder to search for that specific item. could be a great adition!
Hmm… a good idea but I’m not sure how I’d make it work, either. Most of those apps need to scan the code, which is pretty hard to do if the barcode is on your screen. I’ll think more about how I can support this use.
The algorithm brought me here, but I really like the app.
got it best wishes !!! I really like the idea of this !
Thank you so much!
Not a bad idea to have an option for some type of visual queue to barcodes since having a lot of them and all of them looking the same would quickly become a nuisance. Maybe an icon, or a part dedicated for a small graphic/image, or maybe even a color change for the frame?
Also subscription for this is criminal, I get your angle but please stop contributing to the hellscape of current reality where every single thing is behind a subscription
Good idea! I do plan on supporting logos/images for some of the Apple Wallet integration, but the idea of color-coding or providing small icons is a simpler option as well.
And I think I have a very different definition of "criminal" than you do. Hopefully the legal system does as well. 😬
What about barcodes that change? Or is it only for physical barcodes?
I’m scheming on it, but yeah, right now this app is for barcodes that don’t update. Doesn’t need to be just physical barcodes, but the ones from Ticketmaster that update over time aren’t compatible right now.
bruh it cost... I could make this app in 6 hours. And thats exactly what im going to do
Go for it! There’s definitely other similar apps out there, too. I just build the version I wanted. It took me closer to 80 hours, as you can see in some of the other videos in this channel, but I wish you the best!
Sick app, unfortunately I cannot use it as I’m jailbroken on iOS 16 but love the video (it requires iOS 17)
Ah, dang. Yeah, unfortunately Barc has a minimum requirement of iOS 17. I tend to try to leave my apps as compatible as possible, so this app will probably support iOS 17 for quite a while, if that's any consolation.
this looks really cool! is there any plans to bring this to Android?
Not currently, but I'm certainly open to it if I could figure out what all the equivalent features would look like.
this is really cool, I have no need for it but just incase having this would be so cool. if im at that location does it go to the top?
Looks nice, but I don't support subscription apps. 👎
I get it. If you like my style, but don’t like subscriptions, check out my other two apps, Black Highlighter (blackhighlighter.app) and Kineo (kineo.app), both of which are one-time payments.
Great design! :)
Would love to see a way to add codes to wallet as well :)
Would be incredibly nice
Definitely coming very soon! This was one of the major goals for this app, but the amount of work it takes means it just didn’t make the cut for the first version.
Yep, I agree! Definitely coming ASAP.
Why is the minimal target set to iOS 17, is there a specific reason?
Ease of development. I can look into expanding it; I'm not entirely sure what I did that was iOS 17-specific.
love the idea.. good luck!!
Thanks! 🤍
His name is Jeff!
Geoff, actually. But yes… my name Jeff.
I dont have an IPhone but this is sooo cool
Thanks! I probably won’t be doing an Android one any time soon, but… never say never.
Would it be possible to add a barcode to apple pay as a coupon so you can access it with the power button double click?
Coming soon!
What tech stack did you use?
Mostly Apple’s first-party frameworks: SwiftUI, SwiftData, VisionKit, etc. You can see the source code on my GitHub, linked from the channel page.
I just have one question, the scanner or laser they use to read these codes can damage my front camera?
Right but google wallet already does this right?
I mean, it does some of the things. But also, as far as I can tell, it doesn't run on iOS, and this is an iPhone-only app (for now). And yeah, there's other competitors on iOS, too. No law against there being more than one app doing the same thing.
Looks awesome, too bad it had to be a subscription. I wouldn’t even mind paying for it but a monthly fee for something that has seemingly no recurring costs of its own.. eesh
I get it, but let me attempt to win you over: apps *always* have recurring costs. There's always new features to be built, new OS support to maintain, bugs to be fixed. And of course, Apple charges us yearly just to keep the app in the App Store.
But if you really just don't like subscriptions, I'd encourage you to check out my other apps, linked at the bottom of the video description. Both of them are one-time purchases only.
How did you learn how to code?
I’ve been at this for… _mumble grumble_ years, so I learned from actual physical paper books. If you’re looking into getting into iOS development these days, I recommend looking at a video course like Paul Hudson’s 100 Days of SwiftUI: www.hackingwithswift.com/100/swiftui
A loyalty card app i use gens a new card every day or so to prevent misuse, like people stealing ur balance etc so hm
Yeah… that one probably wouldn't work. I have plans to look into *some* of the auto-renewing code ones, but I don't have the highest hopes.
Great idea but you will get so many more people on board if this is a $5 one time purchase. If I were you I would take a couple years of massive success before Apple integrates this feature into the OS.
Very cool, this would be useful when you can’t add something to Apple wallet.
Can you make this also for android I would love to download it
No plans for an Android app right now, but I definitely won’t rule it out. I mostly just am not familiar with what the similar features are on Android.
Amazing idea!
Glad you think so! 🤍
Wait until bro discovers apple wallet
Oh, I know all about Apple Wallet. It doesn’t do everything I want, but I’m definitely going to get Barc to work more closely with it in future updates.
@@cocoatypeI’m just fooling around man :) great video and product!
I love indie apps like these!
I love indie apps like these, too! All of the great indie apps out there inspire me to build stuff that I hope to be even a fraction as great as they are.
Please make it possible to add codes to Apple wallet
Coming as soon as I possibly can build it!
This is genius! Thank you
Thanks for the kind words! 🤍
No, thank *you*, random citizen! 🤍
I hate that apple wallet still hasn't figured this out for a number of accounts. I have a few like Tesco and Nectar cards. But man, just let me add random shit
A near-term goal is to allow exactly this through Barc; add it to Barc first and then dump literally whatever into Apple Wallet.
Good luck!
Thank you!
This looks so cool ❤
Thank you! 🤍
How is this better than Stocard?
What stopping Apple to implement this feature on the Wallet app?
Absolutely nothing. That is, of course, one of the terrifying things about building on someone else’s platform. My hope is always just to keep having more functionality than they’re providing.
Nice one homie
Thank you! 🤍
Let me guess it’s gonna be subscription based. 🙄
Yep… sorry if that’s a dealbreaker for you. You can check out my other apps, linked in the description; both of them are one-time purchases.
@@cocoatypeis it possible to add one time payment for lifetime subscription ? 😄
Nobody tell this dude about Apple Wallet.
Quite the contrary, *many* people have told me about Apple Wallet, and how they want this app to work with it! It'll be coming soon.
This is a paid subscription!?
Yep! I know not everyone loves subscriptions. If you like the style of this app, but don’t love subscriptions, check out my other two apps, linked in the video description. Both of them are one-time purchases.
want an apple type launch video for it?
Sooo…. Basically what Google pay does, but with an added subscription on top? Nope, thank you…
I would love if it could add barcodes to wallet
Coming soon! I promise! 🤍
Love the name
Glad you like it! It was originally just a codename, but my early testers convinced me to keep it.
nice tech. y ou worked hard
UM APPLE WALLET WANTS TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION?!
sometimes, yeah
YOOOOOOOOOOOOO THATS CRAZY
Haha, thanks! 🤍
Pls make one for Android
I don’t have any plans to build an Android one right now, but I’m not going to say never. I’m just not as familiar with all the equivalent features (like Shortcuts or widgets) on Android.
The app doesnt support any of my barcodes lol
boo… I’m adding new barcodes as quick as I can. Send me examples at hello@cocoatype.com and I can get you into the beta as soon as I have the support you need.

add apple pay!!
I’m not sure what you mean by this… what do you want Apple Pay to do in Barc?
apple wallet! sorry! add the barcodes into wallet
my dumb ass brain says i can make it in 2 weeks. Nice products tho.
I did this as part of a hackathon, so I kinda *did* do it in a pretty short timeframe. If you look at the other videos on my channel, you can see a lot of the building of it.
