Great job buddy! I recommend this video for anyone in need of guidance in this area. The mechanic approaches the problem intelligently, and at just the right pace. Thank you.
WOW. Absolutely no need to remove the radiator or fan. I did have to move the auto trans dipstick tube to gain access to the top bolt, but that was it. The bottom bolt is right in your face if you crawl under the car. It took 35 min to remove and replace the starter on my Corolla.
Hi Peter, thanks for your videos! They have been a lot of help! I would suggest you try adding subtitles to your videos, your English is perfect but I can imagine some people struggling to understand, however I understood perfectly :) thanks again
very good. the other instructions elsewhere ie remove battery and tray, using long extension to remove top bolt, then working under the car seemed awkward although I did it with a much older saloon model. Might be an idea to change radiator if changing from the front. Only a few pounds for a reconditioned one on the NET. The radiator on my Corolla saloon did clog up and I replaced it. It was probably about 15 to 20 years old at the time. You've cheered me up. The American guy was using flexible extension bars and it seemed VERY difficult. Thanks
ty soooooooooooooo much for this video. saved me a ton of money. I did it on my 2000 Toyota celica gts. 2 bolts, that little wire and the little nut is all it is. went in from the bottom, jacked it up. ty sooooooooooooooooo fucking much man. would pay you for this vid.
Thanks for the video Peter. Couple of questions: for how long can you start and idle the car without the radiator? When I refill the amount of spilt coolant, do I have to "suck the air" or "pressurize" the coolant in the system in a 2006 corolla? What are the risks if i mix the coolant with an equivalent but non geniune version?
Kiitos videosta .
you're awesome thanks for this! One question, can I go from underneath and simply remove the old one without removing the radiator etc..? thanks again!
Hi, the starter could be possible to remove without removing the radiator. I took the radiator away, because there is risk of radiator damage with tool.
There's no need to take the front of the car apart all you need to do is take the 2 bolts off one on the bottom of the starter access from the bottom of the car and the other is on the driver side of the starter exactly 180degress from the other then remove the pigtail and the nut above the bottom bolt and boom it pulls right out.
The correct term is actualy channel lock. And that is also the name of a company thats been making them for 100 years. It got its name from the different grooved "channels" making it ajustable. But if your simple yea it looks like a parrot. Lol
+Peter Finn No, i go house to house to take care of my patients (like a delivery service) so my car gets crank up a lot.. about 7 to 8 times per day. I have a 2014 toyota corolla :)
You can get at the top bolt with an extension and you only have to remove the battery. All this other business of pulling the radiator is totally unnecessary. I wonder why the newer cars have a direct drive starter instead of the gear reduction one used in the 98-02. The connectors look the same and the bellhousing looks the same, I bet you could put the gear reduction style on the newer car if you wanted.

Absolutely. You did a great job and simplified the process for everyone. Keep it up. I wish you success!
Thank you for the video. My 2000 corolla did not start today. It just clicked when I turned the key. I will be changing my starter tomorrow.

Thank You.
You don't. You can just jack the car up and go at it from below. 3 bolts and swap.

The engine can run for a few minutes, then it must be turned off. And cool the machine for 30 min, and repeat
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor thanks for the reply
Great video! This helped me alot! Thanks!
Great, and Thank You.

Hi, Have you test a new battery first or charge the battery? Battery could be empty.
awesome!! very helpful. now I can do this myself!!!
Thanks for feedback.
You can just jack the car up and go at it from below. 3 bolts and swap.
Great video! Thank you for taking the time!
Excellent demo.Thanks
Thank You.
Great videos
Glad you like them!
If I have a manual transmission will the starter be in the same place? Can I change it just like you did in this video?
Hi, Yes. This video works with manual transmission.
Thank you!!

this guy peter is making a federal offense on removing the starter. view other videos on the simple way of removing and installing the starter.
very nice, and only 17 minutes to take it apart while talking about it. mechanic told me it would take 2 hours and $600.
Thanks for comment.
Great video. Thanks
Thanks
I put in a new battery and alternator. Car turns over but, it doesn't hold the run. Could the starter need to be changed?
good video thanks Peter, I think that it would be easy just remove the radiator for someone like me no access from underneath .
markgenki Thank You for comment.
Thanks dude!
spider man Thanks Sir.
my 2006 corolla S wont turn on and it doesnt make a click when i turn the key. do you think its the starter or something else?
Good vid !
CarsRcool Thank You.
nice video. who makes that ratchet? thanks
+Jason Stringer Hi, this is standard ratchet.

I guess he didn't have a hoist, though you can do it with a jack and stands easy enough.
"That tool" Is Parrot Grips mate:)
Thanks!

I hope Toyota Echo will be similar to this
Please check. If parts are similar, then work is Ok.
Thanks
Welcome
great
Declan O Connor Thank You for comment.
Corolla VVT-i 2005; no need to remove radiator. There's more space...
Thanks for comment 👍
Wouldn't it be easier to just remove the collector?
Thanks for feed back. 👍😀
Any signs that the starter is about to go bad? I don't wanna get stranded:/
+Stator Yes. Starter is bad, if it makes unnormal sounds when starting. Like small sound or long sounds or bad sound.
+Peter Finn Thank you peter. I am a visiting nurse and my car gets at least 7-8 starts per day. i dont want it to fail while at work. :)
Hi, do you mean, that you must start 7-8 times and then your car motor starts to running. And is your car Toyota?
+Peter Finn No, i go house to house to take care of my patients (like a delivery service) so my car gets crank up a lot.. about 7 to 8 times per day. I have a 2014 toyota corolla :)
