Fun fact: in italian these things are some times referred to as "stronzi di mare", which translates either literally to "sea sh*ts" or metaphorically "sea assh*les" (second one if we take the second meaning of the word "stronzo": inept, stupid, of malevolent). I have a vivid memory of some kid at my holiday place who once fished out one, got stinky water sprayed over his face, and promptly shouted: “now I get why they're called assh*les!”

It's honestly kind of accurate. Vomiting involves the muscles of your esophagus working backwards to push your stomach contents out (which is not what they're usually doing, and hence why you often feel sore after vomiting).
