Rustler looks better than the GTA remastered trilogy combined. Indivisible a great hybrid between a fighting game and turn based rpg. I also have my eyes on Goblin Sword as my next purchase for looking like a mix of Altered Beast and and the classic Demon's Crest.
"Tie your shoe laces and get a moon" You guys have really captured the feeling of 2 guys down the pub talking about games. Really enjoy your style and taste in games. Long may it continue.
Hollow Knight is a perfect game that I bought and completed 3 times on 3 different platforms and it still costed me less than a single triple A game. What more can I say?
Hollow Knight is the definition of this topic for me. It's not my favourite game by any means, but boy does it make almost every other game seem like poor value in comparison.
Hollow Knight is excellent. I like to say it is the best value available on the eShop. It's priced so well. I just paid more for Age of Calamity DLC, on sale.
I tried getting into hollow knight but I just couldn’t. I got the dream nail and just had to give it up. Not for me. Weird because I love Metroid and DarkSouls so I figured it would be right up my door. Loved the lore though.
Brilliant list. My favourites from this year are Disco Elysium, Hades and Deaths door. I'm just starting Eastwood. What I love about indie developers is they put their heart and soul into games and build it from the ground up not just money. I honestly think the switch is a great platform for indie games. Have a great Christmas.
@@cleverdusty honestly, Hades might be the one to change your mind. The story is so well integrated that it makes it not feel like a rogue lite. It's definitely worth trying. I've hear that Children of Morta does something similar with story, so if you've tried that one and couldn't get into it, maybe Hades really isn't for you. Otherwise I would recommend trying it if you have some degree of interest in it.
I tried to get into Hades. And then I finally got it. It opened up. And it still couldnt keep me. I decided to stop trying to make myself like something bc people told me it was so good. Disco Elysium. I've been waiting for a sale but I give up and will purchase full price raw. Indifferent towards it when it released before. But all of a sudden I'm interested. Deaths Door. Not for me.
@@InnerRise I think you can sus out whether you're going to like Hades or not pretty early on, so it probably just isn't for you. However, it does get better over time as you gain understanding of the mechanics and how to tune the game to your preferred play style. While the gameplay is excellent, it's really more the story that needs to drive you forward. So if you're not hooked in pretty early, it's probably not something you're going to enjoy if roguelites aren't your thing. Since Death's Door isn't for you either, are there any top down action adventure games that you do enjoy?
Loved this more casual style of video with you guys just chatting about each game. I have always stayed away from Cuphead for no good reason, and this may see me picking it up.
Hades was definitely it. The was really well done from the engaging story to the excellent music it was just what every game should aspire to have. I've heard good things about Eastward so I'm definitely looking to add that to my library soon. Every game here was spot on, well done.
Love the new format guys, you two really shine when you’re just having a chat. Great work! Definitely should be considered for some voice over work, hopefully the offers roll in soon!
I feel ORI needs a place on this list. Both games are amazing not to mention that they look and play absolutely fantastic on the Switch. Other than that, I think it a damn fine list that you two put together.
Hades. It can be said again and again. It is absolutely fantastic in every way, art direction, music, gameplay loop, the shear amount of dialouge. Eastward was a also a solid experience, and kept putting me in awe over how good it looks and use of graphics. I have yet to try Deaths sport, but it is only a matter of time! It is really hard to decide what to prioritize from all the good recommendations 😄
Great vid lads! Really enjoyed the chilled out casual conversation. Perfect for Monday evening viewing after a busy day at work. Looking forward to what the remainder of 12 days of SwitchUp has to offer! Also, when you mentioned the checkpoint flags in Demon Turf and wondering whether or not any other games have done so, Ori and the Blind Forest popped into mind. You could set your own checks from memory 👍
I honestly loved Sakuna. I was shocked it wasn’t at least made by a AAA or middling studio. 2 person team? Thats… wild. Also the way you guys talk about the games just makes me wanna pop a beer and chat with you. Would love to listen to a podcast by you guys.
A Switch Up Christmas Special!?! I'm definitely on it, man 😊 Thank you so much, guys, the amazing content you always post and share, this year, and the next one...and the one after and so on 😂 Bless you and have a great holiday 😉
Thanks guys. I’ve played more indie games than AAA this year and I love what they offer - Lost in Random, Tandem, and Tales of Iron comes mind as some unique voices and innovative gameplay that stand out amongst all the FPS games that dominated the recent Game Awards. A suggestion: Would you consider adding accessibility to your scoring framework?
I have a few indie recommendations: Spelunky games: Great rogue-like focused on platforming. The second one has online and both have tons of secrets. Really difficult though, the gameplay is accessible but there's many elements to learn to avoid death. It's pretty popular but just in case, Hollow knight is pretty much the best Metroidvania you can get and it's quite cheap even without a discount. If you want a horror game (emphasis on horror and not action) with a great story, please give Detention a chance. If you want more 2D platforming action with an average difficulty and tons of content, there's Shovel Knight. There's a reason why it's so loved a popular. For 3D platforming, there's a Hat in Time, which I enjoyed even more than Mario Odyssey. Such a charming game, with so much to do and discover, specially with the DLC. Another good option is Blue fire, which also has action elements and more difficulty. I want to describe many more, but I'll just put their names for now: River city Girls, Risk of Rain 2, Azure Striker Gunvolt (any), Dragon Marked for Death, Indivisible, Shantae (any), Overcooked, Gang Beasts, Monster Sanctuary and Blasphemous. There's many more though, sorry for the lack of racing games!
To be fair, Gunvolt and Shantae are made by third party studios that have gone independant with these IPs. Indie all the same, but not ground-up. But here's my two bits for this list: Wizard of Legend (roguelite), Tails of Iron (2d souls), Iconoclasts (puzzle metroidvania), Unsighted (top-down soulszeldavania), Celeste (precision platformer), Crosscode (puzzle rpg)
I do local radio in the town where I live, mainly for my passion and love of music, listening to this today made me think of my own shows, a hell of a lot of enthusiasm and deep regret of not writing down notes.
This was absolutely fantastic. I love the sit down and chat about games feeling. This would be an awesome monthly special? Or just every so often. You guys are so busy, but this video was probably my favorite that you guys have done so far. Very relaxing and enjoyable.
