Hi Hallowed Be Thy Game, dude this video is 10/10 without any doubts, I am 43 years old, and you had me rev'ed amped all da way up excited. Man your voice is bad ass. I downloaded this video right quick. Gem of a video homie. Subscribed 31 May 2023
Glad you made this list. Hate the industry today and wanted to just play games I never heard of and if it's not on Steam I'll get it on switch. Sadly steam has a lot of hidden gems but I don't see them anywhere but steam
My friend you’re the man. I’m 43yo, was born in 1980 so I grew up with the video game, and I arrived to a time where I’m totally tired of all the big titles on big consoles. I had all the consoles, actually got the PS5 and the very first Switch (and 3DS XL and DSlite, I still deeply love them, especially my Zelda 3DS XL LinkToThePast, my very first gold Nintendo stuff……..I was dreaming about that since…….. ZELDA 1 on NES, my cousin had this game I was totally amazed by that, at that time my parents didn’t want me to buy video games so I was dreaming a lot, and this gold cartridge, and then all the Zelda special gold stuff…..) Anyway. Today, I play only one console : my second Switch, the OLED one………and GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH……. This is so beautiful, all the 2D games with this screen are so GORGEOUS, in my bed in the dark with my AirPods Pro it’s such A BLAST…………. Actually, to me, the best games, and I’m VERY serious, are made by Nintendo. They absolutely marvelous for console, I’m blown away how well programmed these game are. And almost zero patch after being on the market, the games are already PERFECT from A to Z. Who do that today???? WHO??? Every Nintendo games are pure gems of video games. To me they are the last ones who really continue to make fantastic games, with a ton of gameplay innovations, who are capable to truly master a game on EVERY aspects, consistent from graphics to menus to sound effect to music to story to gameplay to animation to the whole atmosphere… They are the masters, the most respectful to the video game and the most respectable in the industry. Having 4K 120fps do not make a game. It’s just a detail… And that detail shows us today how much the big games absolutely didn’t evolve since DECADES. They are all the same and now it’s even more visible with 4K. Stupid gameplay stupid level design etc. Hopefully Nintendo still exists. But, I’m very very disappointed about the Focus who will not having an OLED screen………. Such a downgrade to my eyes…….. I don’t see how an actual little LCD screen capable to match a little OLED. On big TV it’s another story. I hope I’m wrong. Maybe 2 different models of Focus, a cheap one and an OLED one ? 🤞 Dude, huge thanks for your work, sincerely. Big salut 🫡 from France !! ViNZ.
I am so glad I came across your channel, and specifically, the hidden gems on Switch videos. The couple of games I’ve played so far that you’ve recommended have been some of the best games I’ve played. Thank you!!
Switch is like the antithesis of every Nintendo console that has come out since SNES. The library is so huge that I'm discovering new games almost every day.
Congrats on the new party member! Been enjoying the channel and having two sons myself, yours will teach you so much more about gaming that you didn't even realize you didn't know. Its the greatest adventure in life.
Dang, great list man! Indeed there were like 8 titles I'd never heard of but went right on my wishlist, and of ones I already knew I was impressed by what deep cuts they are... even the ones that aren't my speed, they're ones I can acknowledge are good at what they do. I normally expect lists like this to have a lot of eye-rollingly well known titles or things too big of hot-messes to deserve recommendations.... but it lives up to it's title. It's a fine list of hidden gems.
This is just what I needed to get thru the rest of the day of work Congrats on unlocking a New Member to your party. May the adventure keep on being a fruitful one my friend.
Ren please! I can’t keep up with the games I already have, don’t bombard me with all these top picks! Stop delivering great content, I can’t take it anymore!
Blazing Beaks is a fun dungeon crawler with huge risk and reward mechanics such as any drop you pick contains a debuff like either slowing you down, taking more damage or messing up your shots, the more you get of these the bigger the rewards you get. Its also a rather fun local co-op game.
The Switch is the best console ever made. Such an amazing little machine. When I bought my first one I really didn’t think I’d use it much at all but I quickly fell in love with it like no other console before it or since.
I appreciate your channel. Like you said, it's a celebration of the Switch and its amazing library. Most other channels I come across only talk about the need for a new Nintendo console now. I don't care much about performance, the Switch can run the kind of games I'm interested in just fine. I'm sure the Switch will be supported with software for a few more years at least. I want to see the library continue to grow, it's the system I enjoy collecting for the most. So thanks for such an elaborate show case.
Just subscribed to your channel. You did a great job with this video. Most guys only show cut scenes or still shots but you took the time to incorporate a lot of game play cuts so we can actually get a really good idea of how these games play and feel. I also like your commentary. You avoided stupid dry humor attempts in lieu of a well articulated script describing the games in a clear and relatable manner. I'm also blown away at how many games you were able to feature in this video. 70 titles! Well done. Keep up the great work brother.
Metal Max Zeno is definitely a spiritual Successor to Metal Saga for the PS2. Metal Saga is an RPG with you and several party members in Tanks and fighting monsters for Bounties. Sometimes the Bounties are for very strong people.
Love to see Touhou Luna Nights getting some love. I initially stumbled upon it on Steam and fell in love with it and grabbed it again on switch. Sprite work and animations is top notch. It's even better if you are a Touhou series fan which I am. Lots in this list that I haven't heard of so I'll definitely be coming back to this list for future reference.
The two games that easily caught my eye were Momodora and Lost Ruins. They were so captivating that I bought them almost immediately when I saw them in this video. I look forward to playing them on handheld.
@@HallowedBeThyGame Lost Ruin is pretty fun so far. I will admit that I made the fatal mistake of setting it on expert difficulty instead of normal. How naive past me was
You should've also added Seven Pirates H,Moero Chronicle Hyper & Moero Crystal H, Omega Labyrinth Life,Akiba Strip 2,River City Girls 1 & River City Girls 2,Atelier Ryza 1,2,3 And The Other Atelier Games And Mugen Souls those are pretty good games too.
Congrats!!! I have been loving your content, it’s really comforting and insightful at the same time. Really grateful for the awesome videos you continue to put out. Keep it up!
Congrats again on the little one brother! I recently completed Shining Resonance Refrain. I really enjoyed it. A jrpg that isn’t overbearing but doesn’t take away from the combat. Sword of the vagrant is one of the best recommendations you’ve ever given. Another game I recently finished and had a blast the whole time! Such an insane list!!!! You are the master my friend! Sincerely, thank you for the dedication, time and love you put into these lists to bring us absolute gold recommendations! Stay awesome brother! #HallowedBeThyGamers
I had so much fun with Shining Resonance Refrain! Hope we haven't heard the last of that series. Thanks for all the support on this journey man, it's truly been a blessing finding such an incredible friend in you!
@@HallowedBeThyGame likewise brother! The best thing I’ve got from the whole RUclips experience are the friendships I’ve made to last a lifetime! Thanks for everything! 🤘

Finally a list made from some passion! I looked at the games at gamestop and couldn't find a good one. Some cool games. How did you find time to play all these!? Lol
The song that was playing in the beginning and end of the video, it's from 7th Dragon 3 VFD isn't it? Congrats on your bundle of joy. Also I don't knlw if it's a hidden gem but Sakuna of Rice and Ruin is one of my all time favorite Switch games.
What an incredible list of underrated gems!! 😁💖 There is so much I've got to catch up on, but I do have a few unsung games which you can try out. Here ya go.... Spiritfarer (A multimanagement game about death. Beautiful, calming and absolutely heartbreaking. You're doing yourself a disservice by sleeping on it 😅 Well, I did too) Cris Tales (A game with the BEST time perception mechanics ever! See past present and future events cleverly placed on one screen. Its also a real arty one with vibrant colors) Bramble The Mountain King (Its a beautiful mythological folklore adventure with beautiful visuals and storytelling) Bomber Crew (Hidden gem alert! One of the finest management games you'll find.) Eastward (Although its better known than the others on our list, not many have tried it yet. Absolutely banger soundtrack and a very stark yet pretty rendition of its artstyle makes this game a noteworthy mention) Wish you the very, Bear-y best always, my buddy Ren!🐻💖
Sad to admit, but I only own three of the games on this list! God Eater 3, Shining Resonance Refrain, and ANNO: Mutationem. ANNO for sure gripped me with its amazingly beautiful, pixelated cyberpunk aesthetics and the gameplay and exploration was downright enjoyable! So glad to have been able to pick up a physical copy of it when it was available. LOTS on this list piqued my interest, hope there are physical copies of 'em!
I must admit I didn't watch entire video. I only stoppd to hear your opinions on games that I either played(great takes on fate extella Link(which is superior to umbral star) and Fairy fencer. Thankfully I found two games I might be interested in so I am really happy I watched. Thank you good sir
A solid compilation of recommendations, thanks. I own some of the games, and some are just not for me, but I have at least three interesting new games to take a closer look at. That's great. Iconoclasts is one of my favorite metroidvanias that doesn't get mentioned very often. Very likable and well written characters and even antagonists, an interesting world to explore, lovely pixel art, great sound design, the list goes on. Play Iconoclasts, folks. Narita Boy is a very stylish and entertaining beat em up that doesn't get the appreciation it deserves, imo. Katana Zero is a... side scrolling one hit death slasher something... I don't know what to call it to be honest, but I almost played the game in one session when I discovered it. It's super stylish, it has a mysterious main character and story going on, and it's super addicting and fun. Challenging but fair. Can't wait for a sequel that's hopefully still in the making. And last but not least, Hyperlight Drifter comes to mind. Finished it like five times at this point and I'm still itching for more. Sadly the devs decided to go a completely different route for the unofficial sequel, but that doesn't take away from how friggin amazing everything about the first game is. Hyperlight Drifter is pure ❤
Such a great video man! I think from your list I found 3-5 I liked. Unfortunately I can’t find the DYA games on physical release or Catmaze as a physical release.😢
Bro. Remember. One day ull reach the day where you never pick them up again. So always pick him up. Its a feeling ull miss. My sons already four. Time flys. Congrats ! 🎉
Nice video, I'll have to rewatch it when I'll need a few games to just enjoy. I do appreciate that you list lot of casual games, as those are getting rarer and rarer as everyone only wants "hardcore perma death rogue lite optimized" gameplay style nowadays and I sometime feel very alone when I just wanna relax on a game (aside from those farm sim game, I do love them but I wanna play other stuff too xD). Personnaly, my biggest pleasant surprise, especially for a game that I almost never hear about: Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. While it is a somewhat exiging metroidvania game, it can still be played pretty casually without much problem as the game is pretty forgiving on your death, it's easy to get a few level up if needed and the game often proposes several path at once to explore, so you can do first half of each path just to get more powerfull, get better items, before deciding to finish one path and beat its boss. Gameplay is pretty simple yet solid, but what put it apart from other games are its outstanding art style and sound track. Epic unique music during bosses, and quite relaxing/melancholic background during exploration: I was so charmed by its music sometimes that dying didn't even annoyed me because it felt like it was soothing me xD.
I never knew there were so many metroidvania games out there that could look *and* feel like playing a Castlevania once more. Thank you sir, for this amazing (an long) list of titles I feel compelled to try out soon! 🦇😄👍
😮 no way! 1 hour and 30 minutes? YES! 17:29 this is a PS VITA game 😊 I finished it on vita & it's a good game 19:59 Im getting the 1st one but the 2nd one looks like has framerate issues on switch 😢 issues like they become a problem I hope they fix it somehow Thank you 😊
Lots of good stuff there friend. It would made you think why some of them are hidden gems as they could go toe to toe with some of the best. Also, would add something. Planescape Torment. It is a port of old Bioware's unity engine games set in D&D universe. It is dark and gritty, and has one of the best worlds and stories. The switch version plays and looks amazing.
how do you find the time to play so many different games? and i ask with sincerity and respect. i work a job and try to manage a family but also love sitting down to play a game when i can. but i can't imagine playing all these indie games ontop of the other big hitters from nintendo and otherwise. How do you do it? like honestly, and do you have any reccomendations on dealing with an already massive backlog of games while still making time for newer titles?
I feel ya, also struggling with a gigantic backlog 😅. I don't think there're many solutions except maybe, play shorter games 😜. ( I can't do that, my backlog is mostly RPGs 😅 )
@@lambertar i know the pain. games like Hyrule Warriors, Earth Defence Force, Tears of the Kingdom, and Monster hunter. you could easily sink 100's of hours into and never see the end XD it's a struggle for sure. i have a few games from this list already that i haven't got a chance to even really play yet.
Ghost Blade! I'm in the credits of that one; cool game too. Edit: seems like a good list this. Already have many of the games gone over, though yet to get to some, but will save for reference. 👍
Fun fact for you: You said that you hope the developers of Dust come out with something new someday... But it was actually a 1 man show! Dean Dodrill was the only developer :)
Thanks for all the support on this series! like and subscribe for more hidden gems!
another list full of indie games that have as much quality as gba games god i wish monster hunter had more games or a fantasy game like that

Great Episode & Congratulations! 👍
😮 no way!
1 hour and 30 minutes?
YES!
17:29 this is a PS VITA game 😊 I finished it on vita & it's a good game
19:59 Im getting the 1st one but the 2nd one looks like has framerate issues on switch 😢 issues like they become a problem I hope they fix it somehow
Thank you 😊
Nice Video ^^ got some new games to pickup i guess xD
Hope you have a blast with them!
Another hidden Indi Rpg I recommend is Tails of Iron…
Lots of good stuff there friend. It would made you think why some of them are hidden gems as they could go toe to toe with some of the best. Also, would add something. Planescape Torment. It is a port of old Bioware's unity engine games set in D&D universe. It is dark and gritty, and has one of the best worlds and stories. The switch version plays and looks amazing.
I know this was a switch video but this helped me find great games on steam. Thank you!
how do you find the time to play so many different games? and i ask with sincerity and respect.
i work a job and try to manage a family but also love sitting down to play a game when i can. but i can't imagine playing all these indie games ontop of the other big hitters from nintendo and otherwise.
I got anno mutationem, and absolutely love it. The mix of 3D and 2D is perfect for a cyber city imo.
dude, this list is a hidden gem in itself
Awesome list
Thanks!
I don't know if you already talked about these games, but I recommand a lot "CrossCode, Bug Fables, UnderHero, Paradise Killer, and Omori". ;)
Fantastic video!!!
Ive just bought a Nintendo Switch and this video is a blessing
Ghost Blade! I'm in the credits of that one; cool game too. Edit: seems like a good list this. Already have many of the games gone over, though yet to get to some, but will save for reference. 👍

Psyched you found some that interest you!
Since it wasn't included, look up the Mary Skelter series. I was really caught up by the setting and the blood battle mechanic.
Thanks for this video. I love the hidden gep and I will add Koumajou Remilia Scarlet Symphony. A nice metroidvania
0:13 what game?
Fun fact for you:
You said that you hope the developers of Dust come out with something new someday... But it was actually a 1 man show! Dean Dodrill was the only developer :)
thank you for the list, I see many games here that I like
No problem!
