As a native English speaker, I have no trouble understanding Rain's English. I think he's doing a very good job. I'm trying to learn Korean now and I'm pretty much a failure. Thinking and speaking in another language is really difficult for a lot of people (like me), so I admire Rain's ability to communicate in English. I love hearing him talk.
I love the way he talks. I just love his hair long. All the movies he makes they are so good! his mom and dad did a good job!
yep, I'd be proud of Rain too if I were his parents lol :D

I am so proud of Rain. His English has improved SOOOOOOOO much.. he is really working hard. He understands every question asked by the interviewer... a couple years back, not much beyond "hello". I am very proud of him, and I know that he will get better and better... if he's ever in L.A. he should get an exchange partner such as....ME lol... I'm learning Korean, he's learning English...hahaha... perfect...
That voice/accent, the hair, the face and smile...SCREAMING!!!!
His English is pretty good, after all what do you expect from someone who didn't live in English speaking countries, I mean he's a singer and actor who's so busy in his career, the fact he managed to learn and speak English, Chinese and other languages for his fans is already pretty cool thing to do!

It doesn't matter how good or bad his English is..what matter is he tried his best! He is very talented!
He's so charming. He always makes me smile. And i just got so tickled listening to him speak English. I sat at my computer the whole time thinking, " yeah, yeah, you said it right, keep going, you are doing good." I think American's have the habit of criticizing without thinking about it the other way around. I know I don't speak Korean. It is a superiority complex we push onto the rest of the world. Like, "why should I learn their language?, they can just learn English..."

I am impressed with his English considering there aren't many Korean actors who speak English. His pronunciation is pretty good for a Korean and his listening skill is awesome. He even articulates his thoughts well.
Rain is an incredible Asian entertainer regardless of how well he speaks English. He is still functional and understandable. Really, that is all that matters--being able to be understood. Try speaking his native language if you are a native English speaker.
I heart Rain when he is himself speaking Korean. His English is definitely getting better and I'm so proud of him for trying his ultimate best. IDk what others say, its not easy to learn English as be as successful as him when you are in your 20's.
He is so cute oh my god. He's also a seriously underrated actor who has an aura of "coolness" and at the same time he is humble.

I'm an American and I enjoy his music even though I'm not fluent in Korean. I think Rain is cool. I also think his english is very good. Most Americans, who take it for granted just because it is our first language, don't realize how difficult English is to learn, so cut him some slack. I think he is doing a lot better than Jackie Chan did when he first came to America.
Rain's smile is fascinating. He's just....so cute and he looks so kind and sweet. Makes you want to hug him.

Gosh, how can you not find that accent absolutely adorable! His little funny ways of saying things, especially iPod, made me giggle and melt! He's sooo cute.

Oh and another thing! His voice definitely sounds lighter and more high pitched when he speaks English lol But then again in the 'Ninja Assassin' movie his voice was deep and husky, like it is when he speaks Korean. Not that it's a bad thing, just making an observation. I also liked this interviewer better than the other ones who were too 'wordy' with their questions or just kept firing questions one after the other like bullets X-/ I mean I know Rain's amazing but damn, cut him some slack!
He said "you know?" a lot. LOL.
His English is pretty good, gotta love that accent! I remember watching a TV show years ago where he was asked an English question and he answered in a very broken English. Look how far he's come.
I'm an Asian too (not a Korean tho) but I am so proud of him.

Rain interviews are always very sincere and honest. Well spoken English. Rain is coming to Washington DC on May 8th he is currently in the ROK army and will be at the World Peace Festival (private) event representing his country commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War. Everytime I see a new video of Rain speaking English, I can definitely hear an improvment. Honestly his grammar and pronounciation are great; I understood every word he said, and to be honest his accent doesn't really bother me, I think it's cute :-) English really is a hard language to learn but I think with more practice he'll be fluent in no time. In his 2010 drama 'Fugitive: Plan B' he had a handful of English lines, he spoke with a West Coast/California accent, very cute haha
Rain is the most important ambassador for Korea. Surely, I'm not the only one who has become interested in Korean culture, traditions, food, etc. because of him. He's a national treasure.
And for those criticizing his English, STFU. He has accomplished more in his 28yrs that you will in a lifetime. For that matter, can any of you can actually speak a second language?...DIDN'T THINK SO!!!
I'm so envious of him. I would like to learn Korean, but I don't think I'd be half as good as Bi Rain speaking English, gah. I'm so proud of him!

i think his english is adorable, its really hard to learn english for them and hes older its hard to learn languages when you are older especially one thats nothing at all like your own so i think his english is very very impressive and the way he pronounces things is sooo cute

well, when you're more fluent in such language and when you hear other people with a thicker accent speaking it you think it's horrible. i still love him!! he makes up for it with his dance moves!!! and of course the pretty face and the hot body in ninja assassin.

The way he uses "you know" and "yeah" in his sentences,, I'm just the same. I use them to buy time and utter the rest of my sentence. That's pretty natural for people who are learning English and don't live in an English speaking country.

I love this interview so much more than all the interviews he did when he was promoting Ninja Assassin. With the Ninja Assassin interviews you can tell that he was always going by this memorized script. Idk if anyone understands what I'm talking about but at least with this interview he seems way more at ease and more like his real self

Yes. I know. But considering his busy schedule- conserts, interviews,filming movies & making music. He is doing pretty good with the"in between" time learning English.Plus, his language is a deep contrast to English so that makes it a little more difficult.

I am with you... I have been studying Korean for 2 years and still cant put a full sentence together. The sentence structure, the social structure and pronunciations are so completely different from English. He should be congratulated on his efforts....besides he is soooooo cute... who cares about syntax and phonics anyway....

I agree.. I don't think that in this day in age, 2009, ppl should even focus on such pity things as accents. He's being considerate and he's determined.. This interview is MORE personal and connecting because he did it in English! He was awesome in Speed Racer, and he's going to kick ass in "Ninja Assassin"
Maybe he wasn't meant to bring music to America, maybe his destiny is to be on the Big Screen?? Either way, signing/dancing/acting in English or Korean, he is amazing and true to himself!!

aww, yay for Rain =) You know, it's easy for English speaking people (and me included) to watch this and laugh at his attempts, or get annoyed by his "you know, yeah" fillers, but come on. English and Korean are TOTALLY different, and both have odd, illogical rules and tricky aspects, and the structure and pronunciation. I say, give him props for learning this much, AND doing his other activities. It takes a lot of work, so I wish him the best! :D
I completely agree with you about the speech fillers~ Sometimes I feel like I'm hearing them say "Um" or "Like" more than their actual sentences. Once in my bio class, during lunch, my teacher suddenly sprang from his seat and yelled "get out of my room!!" because a girl had literally said 30 likes in about 1 minute.

I love his accent, but I just love accents and it's amazing to listen to the words we use everyday spoken so differently. So I always enjoy it, and even though I can't understand any of his Korean songs (save for the feelings they give me) I still LOVE his music! Wonder if I can buy any of his CDs over here.

I speak English, Spanish and know American Sign Language and still learning Japanese. My goal is to learn at least 5 language before I hit 30. Currently I'm 21yrs old.

ahm..honestly...my heart skips 1 beat per second while he's speaking.. i mean..yeah..his english improved so much...i just i dont know why..but still..i love him speaking korean than english..i just thought it change his voice when he speaks english..^^..i wish i could watch this movie soon here in our country^^..more power rain! go! you're the man^^
