In our 2018 Euro Trip we travelled to France from Black Horse Farm Caravan and Motorhome Club Site via the Eurotunnel or le Shuttle and this video diary is a look at the arrival, checking in, passport control, checking the gas bottles, boarding the train and arriving in France. The Tunnel crossing in 2018 was around £230 return. The train journey is 35 minutes. As this was filmed in September 2018 the cost will be different now. Also it depends when you travel, your type of vehicle and how many passengers and dogs etc. The up to date prices are on the EuroTunnel web site on the Tickets and Fares page. We booked the tickets in advance. We did do a video review of all the costs on the tour here ruclips.net/video/rj6SjY_E3Dc/видео.html

Hi. Love this trip. I used to go to France as a kid pre-tunnel days. I was always so excited! Just quietly, if it's light in the UK it'll be light in France! They're an hour ahead, but the sun reaches them first, no matter the time!
I have no idea how it works that I watched something from 9/11, which took me to a camera attached to a plane filming a flight from LA to Dallas, which then brought me here to read a comment from someone with the same name as me!
I’m 17 , 18 next year and I’m getting a motor home so I can travel Europe with my mates , this video has learnt me so much even how to turn and get into the right gear , thank you so much x
I've been in France for almost 40 times, by car, but never to UK, one of the reasons being I had no information how to proceed. Thank you for this video, quite useful for globetrotters (as I used to be) that prefer to discover the World by car.
Bob, thank you very much for giving us such an nice and elaborate tour through the tunnel sitting thousand of miles away! besides educating how to navigate through once one happens to venture through him/herself. Thanks a lot.
Super step by step video! We used the automated check in - purely by accident but it used number plate Recognition so was very painless ...the Euro tunnel Is an amazing concept 35 minutes and you are in Europe 😊
Hi Bob! I really enjoyed your video. I loved the way you specifically ensured that we saw every last detail on the road. I've never been to the Eurotunnel (or the UK really) but I was able to get a glimpse of the experience through your video. Hopefully one day I can. Cheers and greetings from Kenya! 🇰🇪❤️

1:08 - my grandmother used to live in one of those bungalows on the left, just behind the bus stop. Many happy childhood memories in that house. Seems odd seeing it on a RUclips channel. Great video. Thank you
OK about you using the tunnel. We have used the tunnel and the ferry and also the hovercraft when it was running many years ago. Where we live near Düsseldorf we go through Belgium through the Kennedy tunnel at Antwerp.. Many years ago before the motorways was finished to Calais we used to have to go up to Ostend on the motorway and then do about 40 miles along the coast road to Calais....it took ages !!!!. Safe travels .
Thanks Bob and Jenny , great video very informative especially for us newbies who have yet to venture abroad, have a great trip look forward to your next video 😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Really great instructional video thank you so much. We are planning our trip for hopefully when the restrictions lift and it's so helpful to have a video like this.
Very helpful for us as we're trying the tunnel in January 24 for the first time after bobbing around like a cork in a bathtub on the ferry last January. Cheers guys
Excellent video, as motorhoming newbies we are looking forward to getting to France in 2022. Especially liked the zooming on the road signs, I think it would be a bit daunting using the Tunnel for the first time without watching this. Thank you.
Great video and so informative Thanks for posting . Super tip about not following the van in front closely over the joins - tip woth its weight in gold.
Thank you so much for some much needed information on french crossing..thinking of doing our first journey crossing over to France and then onto Spain..first year with Motorhome.
I agree about the self ticket booth, there is far to little time to make a decision. I have seen a couple of near misses because of people dodging across. Apart from that bit it’s easy to navigate.
I used to take the Chunnel quite a lot, but now tit has been at least 10 years since I last went. I was always in a car, so I could only guess at how trucks, campers, etc; went.....looks like I guessed correctly. One thing that always struck me about the experience was, on the England end all signage was in English and French, but on the French end everything was strictly in the native language, too bad if non-French visitors got confused. This seemed very 'French' to me, but also surprising, because one would think that part of the cooperative operation would be to assure that the experience would be uniform anywhere within the Chunnel system.
I never really noticed the lack of English signs, I always enjoyed the whole French experience. Commercial trucks actually travel on a different set of semi open carriages train.
I've travelled over 20k miles in the USA by motorhome, and have been to all the European union countries. im interested in driving a motorhome in Europe as ive seen them in Gibraltar, Andorra and many in Sweden. That's very unfortunate. Here in Australia they're encouraging people to do road trips, seeing as we can't travel overseas. Problem is our state borders open and close with COVID restrictions every other day. We can go on a long road trip without leaving our state, as it's 7x the size of GB.
