This holiday has taken a lot of planning due to current covid restrictions and changes since Brexit. However, Mrs Slaw has been as organised as ever and has a colour coordinated folder full of instructions and bookings. Full details can be found in their last vlog - Travelling to France in a motorhome with dogs - what you need to know to get there and back in covid.
It’s an early start from West Yorkshire, but they have an excellent run down to Folkestone. You can check in to Eurotunnel four hours early, but they are even earlier so they decide to stop at the services just before the tunnel. However, Slaw misses it 😱 He decides to chance his arm and arrive an hour and a half before his window.
Eurotunnel let the Slaws in, but that proves expensive!
In Pet reception, the receptionist asks Mrs Slaw to scan the eldest dog, the female. Oh no, says Mrs Slaw, the eldest is the male. Not according to your vet says the receptionist! Mrs Slaw feels sick to her stomach as she realises that despite her methodical checking of the Animal Health Certificate, the vet has put the wrong dates of birth next to the wrong dogs 😫
The receptionist allows their passage much to Mrs Slaw’s relief! Finger’s crossed for the return trip 🤞🏻
Next hurdle, the receptionist tells the Slaws they are way out of their window and they can wait around for five and a half hours or come back in three and a half hours to check-in. Mrs Slaw questions this and the receptionist informs her that the check-in window is two hours before and two hours after your booked train. Or you can pay £83 supplement. After a quick conflab the Slaws decide to just pay the money and get off on holiday. After paying the money, Mrs Slaw challenges the receptionist and shows her the booking confirmation which allows a four hour before check-in. The receptionist doesn’t seem that bothered that she got it all wrong and points out that the Slaws are still outside of their four hour window. Really she should have refunded the £83, sent them away for an hour and a half then got them on the next available train. Hey-ho!
Next was a 35 minute queue to passport control. Quickly through the remaining checks, but no one asked for the declaration of honour or checked the food that was onboard. Just passports and vaccination certificates. A Doddle!
Once through the tunnel it was a two hour trip to Le Crotoy 1 aire. 9 euro for the night. Right on the dunes.
Good night friends!
Great video pal enjoyed it lovely couple and two wee dogs 👍🐕🐕
Beautiful couple. Kiaora from NZ
Thank you Cherrie ☺️
Love those dog baskets, but I don’t think my labradors will fit in one of those! I enjoyed that, loads of info for a newby like me. Bonne nuit zzzz.
Glad it was helpful! Bonne nuit 🇫🇷
I agree can't wait for more. Enjoy 🥂

Thank you P, K and Bentley!
Lovely
Thanks Kevin!
The first time we went to the south of France we flew into Nice airport and had two weeks in a house with a pool in Garéoult, just inland from Toulon, the French naval port.
We visited Port Grimaud and all around that bay area.
Have fun.
It’s a beautiful area Harry! We particularly love it because the campsite is on a dog friendly beach. A bit of a rareity in France!
Brilliant thanks for posting. (Saw your post on FB today👍👍)
Thanks Simon! Welcome to the channel 👍🏻

We have watched all of your videos, this has been our absolute favourite. Thank you for sharing. Currently in our own Scottish Motorhome adventure. J'espère que vous passez de merveilleuses vacances, et des moments des plus agréables.
A bit of a ‘booger’ at the Tunnel check-in, though. Is that why they call it the Euro Tunnel ? We want all your Euros... but your good ol’ English Pounds will do just as well. 🙄🙄
May that be the only tiny let-down of your entire trip.
Enjoy.... you have utterly deserved this long-awaited sojourn.
👌👌
Looking forward to the rest of journey.
Thanks Ken!
Great video emjoyef it from start to finish 👏
Thanks Linda!
really excellent first day video, full of info and advice, enjoy your trip you two, Loved the safety announcement movements, kind regards
Thanks Bazza! Totally impromptu safety announcement actions 🤣
Take care and stay safe happy travelling we looking forward to next year when we are doing the some 🚍🥂
Thank you Alexander! Hope you have a great trip 🚍

Thanks Margaret! It was a long stretch.
Hello Mr & Mrs Slaw. We have been watching you for sometime now. The last vlog was very informative and we are thoroughly enjoying travelling with you through France. We are hopefully going ourselves in October and have found your information very clear and detailed. Thank you.
Thank you very much! Hope you have a fab trip 🚍
Love your videos… have spent the last 15 years convincing my husband to come on my journey to buy a Motorhome and at last (thanks to the pandemic) we pick ours up in May. Your videos are such fun, so honest and informative I feel we’ve found some kindred spirits. Love that alcohol plays a part in your adventures, keep them coming 😘
Another great video and very useful/informative 👍. Have a great trip! ATB, Sue x
Thanks Sue!
Great video Mrs Slaw, we went to the Barnmouth Site in May having watched your post from there👍
We’re from Yorkshire too, had our van for three years, been to Scotland x3 and Wales but not ventured over the channel yet so your video is very useful thanks. Looking forward to following your adventures more.😁
Thanks Christian! Hope you enjoyed Barmouth as much as we did. Do venture over the channel. We’ve been doing it since 1997 (2013 onwards with a camper) It’s a great adventure 👍🏻
That’s a great video, very useful Mrs Slaws “top tips” about timings etc. We thought the pet check in was hilarious imagine you have to actually take your pets - that’s mental! Watching that on the iPad from the wonderful Hendre mynach site in Wales - trying to figure out which pitch you guys were on. Lunch at the lobster pot was amazing! We’re delighted for you finally getting away and a useful Aire too! Looking forward to following this trip!
Thanks Ian! Enjoy Hendre Mynach. I think we were on pitch 44 last time? Have lobster for me. I can taste it now. Divine ❤️
Really enjoyed your first day, looking forward to seeing how your trip goes, take care .
Thanks Peter! Slaw is just editing day 2 now 👍🏻
We've just found your Channel, so have watched most of your France trip. Fantastic Vblogs, especially the drone shots. We are hoping to go down to Spain for six weeks via Eurotunnel November 21, so all your covid information is great.
We use the French & Spain/Portugal Peage electronic Tags, very convenient & easy. The Van's got to be MGW of 3.5 tonnes though. Worth looking at & the administration is based in Harrogate now. Al & Jan. New Subscribers.😎🙋♀️
Hi Al & Jan! Welcome to the channel! Glad we’ve been helpful. Have a fantastic trip. Slaw is never fussed for a tag. I wonder why 🤪
Great video & yes dont foget to factor the qually in the slaws love a bit of formula one ☝️
Thanks Simon! We do indeed 🤣
Great video we are just on our way back in our motorhome from south west France we use park for night it’s really good but aim to be in the Aires by 6pm to guarantee a space
Thanks Keith and Sonya! Good advice re aires. Hope you’ve had a great trip 👍🏻
Brilliant 😂
Thank you!
Hi, so sad to see you return from a wonderful holiday, thanks for the roadtrip vlogs. Very good. Does Mrs Slaw ever drive the van and does Mr Slaw ever cook?
Thanks Phil! Yes to both questions 👍🏻 Our next vlog is me driving and you can find Slaw cooking on ‘Slaw reviews the Lotusgrill barbecue’ vlog.
I only found your channel a few days ago and im already binge watching. Amazing videos and such a wonderful couple!
Do you know the name of the little tune at the very beginning of the video?
Very enjoyable vlog love to go to France itsjust driving on the wrong side that scares me lol
Go for it! It’s not that bad. You soon get used to it. I found roundabouts the worst at first 🤪
Bon voyage
Merci Rob!
Been enjoying your videos for some time now but looking back to try and find info re Heads Up Display. Still not sure what yours is. Mine is poor in bright light and very very difficult to change speedo units. Enjoy Mrs Slaw`s French speaking. What`s French for "had us tea"? Hope Simon is fully recovered after his stint in hospital.
Thank you! Slaw is doing really well. I’ll have to brush up my French for that one 🤣 Our HUD is an Aramox A8 from Amazon a few years ago but they do newer versions 👍🏻
Thanks for the info. Will have a look@@TheSlawsAdventures
That was a great watch. We are heading out on Tuesday for our very first trip to Europe in our motorhome. Nervous but very excited! Just taking a week to Amsterdam for our first trip, then if that goes well we are booking a longer trip.
Did they check what food you were taking across at all?
Thank you! Hope you have a great trip. Only checks were passports, covid passes and gas off. No onboard checks 👍🏻
what document you need to travel with pet step by step ?
Great video! Where did you get your HUD and who fitted it?
Thanks & keep them coming!
Chris
Thanks Chris! Slaw got the HUD from Amazon and fitted it himself. It plugs into the OBD port 👍🏻
@@mrsslaw9242 Thanks for the response. Loved the British Grand Prix series btw!
Do you think the ferry is simpler to get on??
As a solo traveller, paying for the tolls will be a pain.
Hi Albert, we’ve been on both and there’s pro’s and cons for both. I would say the ferry is simpler and easier. You could get a tag for the tolls so you just drive through.
Tell you what, the guy in the Carthago wasn't hanging around.
He was tramming a bit!
Fantastic video really happy you made it we are do the tunnel next week, can I ask if they checked for food in you fridge or was it just the gas check
Thanks Gazza! We were totally prepared to be legal after all my research. They only checked the gas was off! No checks of food and no request for the Declaration of honour. Hey-ho 🤪
Mrs Slaw. Question ? I noticed you used the M25 do you get charged LEZ zone while using M25 or are you ok to use M25 as long as you don't exit it into any London boroughs I know you have to pay for A E bridge Thanks
Hi Michael, no charge for M25. Just the Dartford crossing charge (£2.50)
@@mrsslaw9242 thanks just gone round M25 no charge.thank you
Do you use Tesco vouchers to reduce the cost of your Eurotunnel crossing?
Hi John, we have done in the past. We live so far away from a Tesco though we rarely shop there.
Hi, are the French still confiscating dairy products like milk and ham? Were you searched when you reached France? Thx
We were so good in the planning and took nothing we shouldn’t do. However, no checks other than passports, covid vaccinations and gas off!
Fantastic video thank you. So informative. You obviously can speak French which must be a huge advantage - my foreign language ability is zero, which makes me hesitant to travel to France. I trust you’ll all have a wonderful, healthy and safe trip. Can I ask was it difficult to get the dogs vaccinated for rabies on the French side as I understand you need a health check and dog passport when you arrive OT soon after?
Thank you! Both our dogs were vaccinated against rabies and had Pet Passports. Although the passports are no longer valid (post Brexit) the vaccinations are still valid, so we got an Animal Health Certificate easily. Coming back into the UK the dogs just needed a worming tablet and health check by a vet. This was recorded on the AHC. No problems either going out or coming back 👍🏻
Thank you
Great viewing as always. Well done, very jealous. Did you take on water at the aire or carrying sufficient for the first night
Thanks Jools & Deb! We always carry at least half a tank just in case 👍🏻
@@mrsslaw9242 thanks for the info, have a great time
Passport control Pita !!! ,,, just hope we can back into EU and back to normal one day
It is a faff going on the tunnel. A lot easier on the ferry 🚍☀️
close it
