Great video and informative, we follow in your exact tire tracks on Saturday/Sunday, didn’t realise how many stops there were. One question was did you get section 8 completed on the AHC for poppy, seems the FB group said there is another stop to get that completed! Safe travels Andy, Bev and Beatrice

Our understanding is that is to do with if you are going to Norway or somewhere outside the EU. If in doubt check with your vet.

Enjoyed the video which we watched again before we embarked on our trip in early October. The pet check in information was useful, so thank you. I wonder why they make the route so convoluted though. Even through passport control and customs it is a nightmare. We have done a video on our experience which some may enjoy, obviously not linking to it here but a subtle plug all the same. We took both our dogs, the beauty of the Channel Tunnel (leShuttle) is that they did not realise that they were on a crossing. Santander is an easier route for getting into Spain but we like the ease of the Tunnel. We did a costing video a few weeks ago and realised just under 30 mpg and were amazed at the low cost of the Spain campsites for the facilities you get.
    Thanks again. P.

Every time we go through the tunnel they change the approach and car parks, I’m sure they just use the area to store all the cones and barriers. Have a great trip

Another great and informative vlog thanks. We used to do your way with an arrival at BlackHorse farm in, early p.m.on the ferry pitches. Then get up very early to catch the early shuttle. Now we go straight to France early afternoon, on the Shuttle and stay overnight in France close to Coquelles. Then after a good night's sleep and we set off on our travels early morning. Well done in Pet Passport. When we visited last time, the 5 dog owners were refused entry to France as the vet had not filled in the AHC correctly. They were livid. I was lucky as vet was spot on. I didn'y want to tell you that bit beforehand as I did want to make Jenny any more nervous. You are there now Enjoy!!

Did the outbound and return a couple of weeks ago. The advantage of getting there early was that you had space and some clarity. When we arrived mid morning it was chaotic because of whatever work was going, vans and caravans all over the place with no departure board in use, tannoy announcements that were inaudible and only one or two stewards getting people where they needed to be. There had been some capacity issues so we were delayed an hour and the overall outward impression was poor. Calais on the other hand was clear, precise and well ordered and we got an early train back, completely different.

Wow an early start for you all Bob, Jenny Victoria and I can sympathise we were exactly the same when we went to France via shuttle last year and as it was school holidays the queues at border control were awful. I also felt the terminal buildings didn’t have enough room for all the people
It is a rabbit warren around the tunnel and you certainly need to look I nearly went the wrong way! At least you are in France now and enjoy every minute

We have gone back to using the ferry, it might be a little longer on the boat but less of an issue with the departures especially with pets [the dog is happy sleeping in the van whilst we go up on deck] and at least we get to have a longer rest and refresh before the drive.

I can tell in your voices its a stressful time. Last year we queued from just after the check in desk until we boarded. Its difficult in the dark. We followed two cars at 0200 and ended up at the Staff Entrance !!. It took us 4 hrs just to drive 100 yards thru check in. Boarded a train at 0830 from a 0200 arrival. I find it all stressful. My wife also helps with directions which helps considerably. Great video look for the Drum Inn for a stop over before the tunnel. A lot closer.

The Pet Passport coming back from France, was temporary in May due to works. It is on the left as you immediately approach the terminal ( 9 o' clock on the roundabout as you go counter clockwise abroad).
On exiting from there, waiting is straight across the same roundabout towards the large buildings. A good large information board is there, snaking around the long and narrow lane is best done at very slow speed, to make the most of the turn.👍

Those checkin screens for the shuttle are notorious for not responding to finger taps. I think there’s a parallax error, you touch the symbol on the screen but you should touch it a few millimetres off. There’s quite a knack to it, plus of course even if you hit the right spot it doesn’t respond instantly. You’re not the only one to get frustrated with them.

I am impressed with how the Shuttle was seemingly straightforward. The only thing that worries me is we have 5 dogs and a tortoise. Don’t know what I would have to do for the tortoise, he is microchipped. What did Poppy have to do to pass through ?

You don’t really need to turn off the Garmin speed cameras in France. If you leave it on it won’t warn you of speed cameras rather it will tell you of a dangerous road section ahead. Clever way of Garmin getting around the French law.
