One of the little easter eggs in this video is they threw in a ton of autotune on Cher's "Believe" Because listening to "Believe" without autotune is like eating toast without butter.

Subscribed for more Pentatonix (PTX) and other a cappella. Their record label is very harsh with copyrighting so you may need to pause a bit with commentary and use image filters to get your reactions through. We Pentaholics are use to this and have seen their videos numerous times. We are here for the reaction. If someone wants to see it without interruption, they can watch the original video. PTX has an extensive song catalog built over their 13 year history. There will be songs you might like better than others, but there isn’t a bad song in the bunch. I am looking forward to more reactions to this Grammy winning band.
    Recommend their original, Happy Now.

Just to give some history, PTX has won three Grammys, many more in nominations, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, over 6 billion view, more than 10 million albums sold. They cover all genres. Pop, classical, rap, hard rock, traditional, jazz, country, folk, really they have something for everyone. Take that, home free. Lol seriously tho, to me ptx is on their own level. Because they didnt set out to dominate the acapella world, they wanted the mainstream. Thats why theyre the most populrar abd decorated of all acapella groups. I would recommend starting closer to the beginning so you can actually see the evolution to where they are today. I would go with Bohemian Rhapsody, imagine, dance of the sugar plum fairy, in daft punk. The last two are grammy winners. With daft punk I would suggest watching the official video first, then watching the private performance after because then you can actually see that they're doing it and there is absolutely no studio trickery. Just their voices. Enjoy the journey!

Virtually every reactor ever has been bummed when there isn't more! They had so much fun with this, and they pass that vibe on to their listeners/viewers. Their whip-smart arrangements (by the group themselves with their long-time arranger Ben Bram) are one of the things that set them apart form other a capella artists. Another factor is the way they sell the songs: they're always very into the groove of whatever they're singing, to the point where they're *living* the songs, not just performing them. As a total mood whiplash after this, try Sound of SIlence or Mad World.

Welcome to Pentatonix. Anything by them is fantastic. A couple suggestions... Somebody That I Use to Know (their first viral video), Hallelujah (their most popular), Daft Punk (first Grammy), and their Evolution series (Evolution of Music, Evolution of Beyonce, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Evolution of Rhianna, Evolution of Arianna Grande)

Welcome to Pentatonix (yes, you pronounced it right) or PTX for short. These guys have been nominated for 5 Grammys so far and won three of them...1st was Daft Punk medley, 2nd was The Dance of the Sugar plum Fairy ( a song with no words sung by a group with no instruments) and 3rd for Jolene...a collaboration with Dolly Parton.
Guy with the cool glasses, Scott Hoying: baritone, Guy with the high voice and leather jacket, Mitch Grassi: countertenor ( a very rare vocal range), the lady: Kirstin ( Kirstie) Maldonado: alto-soprano, guy with the deep voice and red jacket, Matt Sallee: bass, beatboxer in white jacket: Kevin Olusola.
They have over 200 pieces in their discography...some covers and some originals.
Most popular: Daft Punk medley, Bohemian Rhapsody, Kiss From A Rose, Evolution of Michael Jackson, New Rules/I am That Somebody, Come Along, Coffee In bed (original), Happy Now (original), Be My Eyes (original).
    Subb'd for more PTX.

Outside of the 3 a cappella groups, PTX has brought it more into the mainstream with winning 3 Grammys and having a star on the Hollywood Blvd, Walk of Fame, not to mention sold out shows no matter where they go. I wish radio would play more a cappella as I think people would really enjoy their music.

    Pentatonix a "brief" background.
They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that.
    The founding members are:-
    Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead);

Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”.
    Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease);
Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (NOT in this video) (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and
Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese).
Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on RUclips, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings.
Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma.
While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition.
They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his RUclips videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing".
Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours!
They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on RUclips), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building.
But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records.
Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on RUclips, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live.
Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers.
But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label.
They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys.
Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry.
Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group.
If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently.
It is an often debated subject among the Pentaholics as to just how soon we introduce the "Beginners Guide" as we don't want to overdo the introduction. This is a compilation of snips of a whole load of songs which PTX have released. It highlights each member with some of their solos and then a brief history in video. It is quite long - 14+ minutes and is a little dated now (Feb 2020) but is a good watch ruclips.net/video/lDxIfwfCmQE/видео.html&pp=ygUdYmVnaW5uZXJzIGd1aWRlIHRvIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D.
After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre.
Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/
Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work.
Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place.
They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Another nomination for Holidays Around the World album in the 2024 list!
Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. They married 22/04/24!
They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star!
They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23.
Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!!
1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to.
2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album.
3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.
    4. It is "Pentatonix" there is no "The".

There are lots of PTX fans (Pentaholics) around who love new reactors. PTX just celebrated 13 years together. They have hundreds of videos both live and studio versions of their songs. They have some of the most beautiful harmonies you’ll ever hear. If you want to see them on stage live, highly recommend their Hollywood Bowl 2022 or their 2023 Christmas livestream videos. The group started by winning the TV competition Sing Off in 2011. Members are vocalists Scott Hoying (Baritone) Mitch Grassi (Counter Tenor) Kirstin Maldonado (Alto) , Matt Sallee (Bass replacing original member Avi Kaplan) , and Kevin Olusola (Beatboxing, Cello and Tenor)
They do covers and originals as well. Three time Grammy winners, multi-platinum artists with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They collaborate with many top tier artists such as Dolly Parton, Kelly Clarkson and Jon Baptiste. They’ve had numerous TV special and were part of the Grammy’s opening act in 2024. They range from rapping to Christmas music. Most popular RUclips videos are Hallelujah, The Prayer, Mary Did You Know, Kiss From a Rose, Little Drummer Boy.

Welcome to PTX! I’m always on the lookout for Pentatonix reactions. Since you like medleys, I suggest their evolution videos. I suggest Evolution on Michael Jackson for the first one. It was an earlier one, so the bass is Avi, not Matt who you heard here. Avi was bass from 2011 until 2016-17, he is a fantastic singer and has solo material now, if you’re interested. The wonderful Matt replaced him, and that is the only change in personnel for the band, though you’ll find that Mitch and Kirstin change up their looks a lot and keep us on our toes, lol. It’s always them, though. When recommending Evolution of MJ, I like to point out Popspring 2016, which was an MTV recorded live concert video containing three Pentatonix original songs plus MJ. It’s a long video, but very entertaining, and it’s great to get a feel for them live. There is, of course, also a stand alone video of the Michael Jackson medley if you prefer a shorter one. I enjoyed your reaction! Subbed for more!

Pentatonix is fantastic. I have many faves by them - here are just a few: "Radioactive," "Kiss from a Rose," "Hallelujah," "Sound of Silence," and "The Prayer." The third of the 3 premier a cappella groups now is VoicePlay. "Warriors," "7 Nation Army," "Creep," "Carry on Wayward Son," and "Halo Theme" to name just a few of theirs. You won't be disappointed in them either :-)

While I have no doubt that Home Free could do an excellent job covering all of the tunes in this medley, somehow the video just wouldn't be the same without Kirstin flashing those big curls in her spots!
If you enjoy medleys, Pentatonix (aka PTX) has a number of them you could watch. They have a whole series of medleys called "Evolution of...", with entries for Music, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande - and in concerts recently, they've been doing a medley of Taylor Swift songs, so there may be a new entry into the series fairly soon! In addition, they won their first (of 3) Grammys for their Daft Punk medley/mashup, and it's pretty different from what you saw here!
Otherwise, for PTX I'd say just point your finger at their playlist and pick something - you'll have a hard time finding something you don't like!
Since you've reacted to Home Free and now Pentatonix, it's probably time to start thinking about the 3rd member of the a cappella trifecta - VoicePlay. They are another 5 man group (currently down 1 member), and they're known as "the theater kids of a cappella". They've done video game themes, a bunch of Disney-related videos, and they are fantastic at Halloween - they always have a special video especially for the spooky season!

Welcome to the Pentatonix family and the rabbit hole. So I really enjoyed watching your reaction I loved watching you get your 1st Mitch slap. 😄
A few things to know about them there are only 5 members and it's incredible how much sound comes out of those 5 members. Yes they do tweak the music videos And sometimes they double up their vocals For production songs Overall they Overall they do everything naturally they try not to do too much that they can't perform live for an audience. I've actually seen them perform this 90s melody I highly recommend any of their Evolution of series.. specifically Rihanna, Ariana grande, Michael Jackson.
    ruclips.net/video/7GMHqYxpnzk/видео.htmlsi=cADMA5iOw54bukGV
This is also 1 of my favorite live performances from them it was in 2016 It is quite long there's 4 songs 3 of them are Pentatonix original songs But I think you'll thoughly enjoy it seeing what they can do live.
1 side note the 2016 performance does include their original base Who Kaplan , Beginning in 2017 I believe the new base Matt Salle Came in and he's been with him with an ever since.
    Please Don't mind my spelling!
