Thank you for this. Yes a iconic song but by PTX absolutely stunning. Have to say, the end of Mitch's verse is astounding and then the angel voice of Kirsten. Appreciate you. Greetings from South Africa
The celtic vibe you mentioned at the beginning is Kirstie and KO singing a bagpipe drone note together. It. doesn't. end. for Matt's entire opening verse.
Nice to see you back with PTX! I also recommend their 2023 version of O Holy Night, and their live Vevo studio performances of Kiss From a Rose and Hallelujah (I know you've done Hallelujah, but this is a new release with Matt as bass and incorporating changes they have evolved since they have performed it at every concert for at least 8 years - so it may interest you). As we get closer to Christmas there is also a live Vevo studio performance of their gorgeous mashup of Christmas Time is Here/Pure Imagination.
The "Celtic vibe" is that droning note by Kevin and Kirstie in the first verse, meant to imitate the bagpipes that are often used for those solemn events you mentioned. The only reactor I've heard who identified the symbolic sound on his first go was of Scottish heritage. Most people don't pick up on it initially, but once you've heard it, it's impossible to un-hear it. Great reaction, as always!
This came out on their Covid pandemic Christmas CD. A song many of us needed and still do. Best version of this song I have ever heard. When I heard Kevin come in at the end the first time it just broke me. Ugly cry....
Your face when Kevin came in with his beautiful falsetto!!! If you've listened to Mary Did You Know or Imagine, you have heard Kevin's falsetto: it's a secret weapon that they use sparingly and with discretion. At one point, some interviewer asked Kirstin and Mitch which of them could sing higher. They looked at each other and answered as one: "Kevin." If you've listened to their cover of The Prayer, you can hear Kevin's top note soaring above everyone else at the very end.
This really hit me hard today. I just lost my mom. She was diagnosed with advanced alzheimer's about 2 years ago, but she has been failing for at least 3 years. To make it worse, she never knew that dad had passed away suddenly almost 2 years ago. His death anniversary is coming up next week, along with his birthday. I would love to have this version played at her funeral, but my sister hates ptx.
Let's see... you reacted to their cover of "Imagine" a year ago, and Kevin sang a whole verse at the end of that song. So why are you now all of a sudden so FAKE SURPRISED?? He sings quite a lot, though it is usually melded into background harmonies (when he's not beatboxing). He beatboxes, he cello boxes and he SINGS. It's what makes him a valued member of the group.
I think this is a re-post of the reaction he did over a year ago. YT stomped on his channel and deactivated/ removed a lots of his older video reactions for whatever unknowable reasons. He decided to re-post many of them. I remember seeing a short where he wrote about this a couple of weeks ago.
It's always nice to feature more PTX on this channel! Thanks for watching and let us know below what other videos you want to see!
Your first KO from Kevin 💗
Would love to see you react to The Prayer and Oh Holy Night

I love Pentatonix's version of this timeless classic.

I know! I think they breathe through their eyes!

Recommend their cover of Kiss From A Rose.
Grace. Unearned, unmerited favor from God.
Amazing that an a capella group can sound like instruments.. a capella.. instruments. And that ending... Angel Kevin activate.

Awesome group...awesome song....just THE BEST....🙏💖🌹😗
Great reaction!
Thanks for re-posting this one, bro. I forgot just how impactful this reaction was. 🤘🏾
I do believe that Celtic Tone you were hearing in the beginning, was the harmonies approximating Bag Pipes.

You are correct. This has ended up becoming our archive channel and many of the videos are not in the same order as originally posted

A big man would apologise once they knew better, Scotty. It says in the description this is an archived reaction. You're awfully quiet over there.
