They made this video in Kevin & Avi's apartment. It cost them $400.00 and they win their first Grammy for it.

Trust me, Gold is worth it. Now that you know it isn't what you thought, you won't be too disappointed when you hear it. I get so excited when a reactor discovers PTX Gold. It's a Kiiara cover, and the original is kinda weird and over-produced in my opinion, but Pentatonix's cover is like a perfect little diamond of an arrangement, and Mitch kills it dead. Avi and Kevin are kicking as the rhythm section. Daft Punk earned Pentatonix their first Grammy, so it's a go-to must-do, especially for new reactors to the group. I love it, but there are so many others I love even more. Run To You is a Pentatonix original song and very beautiful.

You'll find that PTX is at the pinnacle of mixing and mashing. Try their 90's Dance Medley for another that will blow you away.
I’d recommend reacting to the live performance of Daft Punk from the Hollywood Bowl 2022 concert. Find the live stream version for best quality. It shows not only that they absolutely can perform this live, but how they’ve matured in the 8 or 9 years since they first recorded it.
"Run To You" is a PTX original, written by Avi and Kevin (mostly Avi, who arranged it with Ben Bram, PTX's longtime producer/arranger; those of us deeply into Avi's solo original music can easily hear his touch in "Run To You"). Make sure you react to the official music video for the song. The live versions just don't have the audio nuances.

Kissed by a rose live version is fun. I also like Can’t hold us and New rules x are you that somebody for a different side. Coffee in bed is a fun original of theirs.
Pure Imagination, The Prayer, Kiss from a Rose, Amazing Grace and Imagine are all great choices. You really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose.

Run to You is one of their originals... Really enjoying your reactions, they are honest and refreshing and all Pentaholics love to hear people discover their amazing stuff. I don't think it's possible to only recommend one chart...I am very fond of their original HAPPY NOW. It's refreshing and like all their videos pretty amazing too... but The Prayer is amazing Mitch and Kirstie. Gold is an astonishing video that will show their talent so simply and directly it knocks my socks off. But pick whatever you think you'd like to hear. You can't really go wrong.
You know they won their first Grammy for this outstanding & creative video. It’s not about the song, it’s about the talent, creativity and how they used their beautiful and talented voices. This is not my favorite song either but I’m blown away by their genius . They’re at the beginning of their career here and I don’t believe they had a recording contract yet. This whole video was created by them! Not some recording company dictating what they can and cannot do! This was all done in their apartment! That’s impressive. I totally reject your review!

Truly a great mashup. Did you notice Kirstin's "Around the World" during Avi's "Television" and again at the end? I've watched this mv so many times and only realized that from one of the comments of the fans.

One reactor showed a video of Daft Punk in a person's house/apartment and it truly was just like this. I'd suggest looking it up if you want to as seeing a full video like this compared to a home video of them doing it just amazes me even more with their talent. I've seen them three times thus far and look forward to when they come to town next.

Love Again is an early original which is in the same vein as Daft Punk. It's great. I add my recommendation to others for Gold. It's 100% different from this one, and a testament to their ability to just sit on a couch and blow our minds.

I've watched each of your PTX reactions sir, & personally I think you should check out their series of "Evolution of" videos. They take an artist's catalog & do a medley of it.....live. They do 4 takes of a full run through & choose the best one to post. It's amazing to witness. They did Evolutions of MJ, Beyonce, Rihanna, Nsync, Ariana Grande, & one for Music through the ages. Definitely worth a watch & you get to see that it's them for real & they're better live!!

You need to start reacting to Home Free. Pentatonix was first introduced to the world on an acapella competition show called The Sing-Off in season 3 and Home Free won it in season 4. Both groups have 5 members, a beatboxer, and a great bass vocalist, but their styles are very unique. If you react to Home Free's Ring of Fire, you'll see a familiar face.
The genre is French House, a combination of funk, disco, techno, house, rock, and synth-pop. When a critic wrote about 2 guys making this music in the 1990s he said it sounded terrible. He wrote that the 2 Frenchmen making the music were daft punk idiots. They liked that critique and took on the name.

This is only the second time I have watched you, so maybe if you let us know what type of music you are drawn to, we can make better suggestions.
The "Gold" they did is by Kiara, who depends heavily on electronic manipulaton.
If you decide to see it, I second the idea of listening to her version, as much of it as you can stand, before the PTX version, which is stripped down, laid back, and kind of soft jazz.
They won a Grammy for the Nutcracker song, by Tchaikovsky, which will knock your socks off.
It was Pharrell on vocals of Get Lucky. Nile Rodgers from 70's disco group Chic, was on guitar.

Thank you so much for your honest reactions. I had a feeling you might feel that way about this video. I enjoyed it, but it is definitely not a favorite, simply because it doesn't showcase their vocal abilities. I still strongly recommend Amazing Grace, the Prayer, Oh Holy Night or Shallow, Mad World, Havana, and Can You Feel the Love tonight. I truly don't believe you will be disappointed. You must react to this next. It's a private performance Ina green room. Their on stage live performances are awesome, but this one is them singing without microphones with Avi still. I adore matt and I adore his version of this song. But this private performance is great follow up to the official video with sane artists. Try to tell the difference, except quieter due to no microphones. Pentatonix Run to you, is 1 of their originals. The gold by Pentatonix Is a cover of a kiiara song gold. Trust me it's an amazing just chill performance they're literally just sitting around on couple couches and they bang it out even better then Original song in my opinion. Mostly mostly because the original song is very . Mostly because the original song is very heavily reliant on electronic and They are just doing itinvention.
A warning, "Run to You" is a PTX original song, not a cover, and it will probably hit you in the feels. There is no beatboxing or percussion, just five-part harmonies with lots of crunchy bits. It's definitely worth a reaction, but it's not like anything you've heard from them this far.
You are one of the few reviewers (other than the PTX Hate Squad) who wasn't bowled over by this. (Filing that away for future reaction suggestions.)
I'm a bit at a loss to figure out what to suggest next. If you want to see a mashup with even more disparate origins, you could watch "La La Latch", which is a mashup of "La La La" by Naughty Boy (ft. Sam Smith) and "Latch" by Disclosure (ft. Sam Smith). Another odd mashup is "New Rules x Are You That Somebody" (Dua Lipa and Aaliyah, which I am pretty sure was not on anyone's bingo card).

With you bouncing around between eras of PTX I'm not surprised you are not the biggest fan of this one. Some of their earlier stuff, while good, isn't as captivating when you've started with some of their newer stuff and that's fine :) I saw PTX live with Matt and they opened the concert with this song and it was so bad. The song is hard and once you get off it's hard to recover the song. Some a capella songs you can bring yourself back into tune but there was no saving this one 😂 rest of the concert was flawless (I also think what Avi brings to this song is hard to replicate by anyone else)

This was supposedly done in Kevin's kitchen closet with $400 budget. They also have an unplugged version as a request from aake a wish patient which was done in Kevin's living room.
I wasn't too into this one but it did win a grammy so what do I know. lol Kiss from a Rose is their cover by Seal and it is really good. Imagine has such a good message and the end kind of joked me up a little wishing for the world to be as this group is. Religious and Color blind

Gold is amazing, and the reason they want you to listen is because Mitch sings the lead with his high voice. It's a beautiful song made even more beautiful by Mitch.
I LOVE "Gold" by PTX! I don't like Kiara's original. Rún To You is a more choral type original in 5 parts. So even Kevin is involved with the singing. In fact, Avi & Kevin wrote it.
