Yeah the autotune was deliberate, as an homage to Cher. For some goofy fun check out Scott&Mitch in Superfeuit - Hip Hop Goes Broadway. And don't skip the bloopers LOL

They do use sound engineers on their recordings, but the only unnatural affect added to this one was the autotune on the Cher part, added to honor her use of it as part of her artistic process on the song. I've seen them perform this live twice and it was just as incredible as this. Your son is adorable, lol! You may have the next acapella beatboxer right there.

Their mix engineer is Ed Boyer. Jacob Resituto here on YT interviewed him and talked about what he does and doesn't do for Pentatonix and other a capella groups.

Cher was one of, if not the first, to use autotune obviously like that, so they did it on purpose here!

They can and do perform this live. They do the bell tones easily and they have great electric sounds, especially Mitch . Hollywood Bowl 2022 has this live as well as Bohemian Rhapsody. And yes, autotune on the Cher song because Cher uses it for the effect and not because she needed it

5:17 - Watch their cover of Gold by Kiara. If you’re not familiar with the original-listen to it first. Then watch five people chillin’ on a couch, each with their own microphone do their magic. It’ll blow your mind.

Great reaction! Love your son's beatboxing. It's pretty darned good!
They do this live at the Hollywood Bowl 2022 concert. Best channel to get this on would be the Miles Reuben one. He has all the songs they performed separated into singles.
Scott has a solo album out called Parallel. It's really amazing and there are official videos for about four of the songs on it...Mars, Four, Parallel, Bubs. There's also a couple of recent singles out by him...Flaunt It and Mad About You ( there's also a Cinematic version of this as well...quite dark and primal!). And then there's his work with Mitch on Superfruit!

The autotune used by Kirsty was in tribute to Cher who used it in that song. They never use it except for something like this tribute to Cher

Awesome reaction Dude!!! I have really enjoyed watching your facial expressions while you listen. I made the same ones the first time I heard them sing as well.
Aren't PTX amazing??? They are so gifted. Each one could have a very successful solo career if they wanted to. I'm so thankful they are staying together to bring us all their beautiful music.
Scott and Mitch did a spinoff of their own called Super Fruit. It was like a blog where they joked around and sang. One of the songs they did was the show "Empire". Called the "Empire Medley". That is a live performance between the two and it is phenomenal. You will enjoy that one for sure. Would love to see a reaction to it please.
You are amazing dude! Thank you for your dedication to PTX.
Sending you love from Texas ❤❤❤

You can see them do this live in several recent tour performance videos (try Hollywood Bowl 2022). They enjoy themselves like wow when they perform it. Mitch is a very keen mimic (as you saw in Bohemian Rhapsody), and he helped the rest with some of the more electronic sounds they use here.

Enjoyed the reaction. PTX had their first concert for 2024 last night. They did a compilation of Taylor Swift In the Eras Tour I heard. Can' t wait to see it when they put it online. They did a wonderful job in the Evolution of Michael Jackson,,Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Rihana.
O Holy Night is mind boggling and impressive. U can check it out too

Hi! Subbing now, love finding new reactions to PTX! I was born the year before you, so yeah, all these were at high school and college dances (and the little bit of clubbing I did in the early days). Should have seen me going crazy singing and dancing to this in 100+ degree Florida heat at a PTX concert last summer!

Great reaction! If you really like Scott's pop vocals, heck out his single MARS, this song will check all the boxes. The live choir version is excellent as well and really lets you hear his entire range. Subscribed and still smiling. Cheers!

To do this medley, PTX was more than justified to use voice altering technology. It made the performance better, even if less "pure" acapella.

Yes they deliberately used auto tune because that's what the original song used so they were trying to pay homage to share So the auto tune is actually in place when they 1st start the song so matt Kristen Mitch Even Scott it's just hard to tell Cause they're pitching so perfect

I have to say - your 6-year-old is a MUCH better beatboxer than I am!
Unlike many of their medleys, they list the songs they perform in the description box for this one - I think they use 17 songs in this one.
The autotune on "Believe" is done as a tribute to Cher's original, where she used it for the first time in a song as an acoustic effect, rather than a corrective technique.
The original Daft Punk video is worth watching just for the visuals in it. As sort of a combination of that and the BTS version you've already watched, there is an excellent live version from their 2022 Hollywood Bowl concert also available - you can see just how closely their normal live concert version compares to the studio version. ruclips.net/video/a8PZ7_KMGM4/видео.html
