    Might have been worth the time to check the fan and compressor amp draw to confirm the wire terminal(s) at fault. Most would have replaced that capacitor as well and the orange wire.

    • @WeatherNut27

      I do like his mentality. Just replace and go. If it happens again then dig deeper

    • @Nighthawke70
      @Nighthawke70 Год назад +12

      @@WeatherNut27 I would prefer a more permanent fix after checking amps and thermal build up. there has to be a good reason why it cooked in the first place. And callbacks are a ding on ones reputation.

      @pl-mn2ro Год назад +1

      He must have done all the checks off camera. If he didn’t then the problem will still be there and he would have to come back for free as warranty so I really doubt he left without checking the amps draw and the cap values

      @@Nighthawke70A loose connection will do that as Amps will ramp up rapidly and heat will melt the wire

    Steve is one of the good ones 👍! Never tries to sell the homeowner something he can easily fix to maximize his profit. So many freakin crooks out here. 😡

    • @TheNicko773
      @TheNicko773 Год назад +5

      100% correct on the crooks. Had my handler changed out a few months ago because of a leaking coil. Noticed the guy opening up my condenser unit outside. Didn't think much of it, next day compressor would not start. Opened up the panel and saw burnt wire from the cap like this video. Noticed the terminal was loose to it. I suspected he loosened it to cause melt down because he was pissed I didn't want to replace the condenser unit also. Only 5 years old. Ran a new wire and its up and running. Gonna keep a close eye on some of them.

      @Fred-xo3ku Год назад +1

      @@TheNicko773 lucky you caught it. Many of these crooks go thru their day sabotaging units(looking for a call back) and stealing good parts to put in other unit and charge as new. 😡

    Nice vid Steve. Surprised that you did not check the capacitor as much burning that went on in there. Good fix.

    @rokustittsville2422 Год назад +17

    But why did they burn?

    • @danwesten2771
      @danwesten2771 Год назад +3

      Power surges, high amps and heat for a number of reasons, chYna parts, MexiCAN parts, all others besides USA parts, ect ect.

    • @Garth2011
      @Garth2011 Год назад +6

      Most likely a bad connection at the terminal, the crimp or a loose female to male spade. Once the red wire got hot enough, the insulation starts to flame and that burned the other wires above it, probably.
