  • On our first group overland trip, we head far off the beaten path towards the remote Kofa Wilderness Area to explore the ruins of the long forgotten Resolution Mine. Relatively well preserved, this fascinating glimpse into mining camp life tells the story of those that lived and worked the operation. The journey to get there is rugged and a long way from the nearest paved road, but well worth the effort. After visiting the mine, we'll camp out in the desert before returning back to the highway.

Your videos continue to inspire me to get out of the house, back into my old 4Runner, and get out to the beautiful places in AZ!

The building with the concrete table was an assay office. The scales were set on the table to weigh the pin head beads. Any vibration would give false results. Chances are that the legs of the table even went past the floor and set deep. The furnace is an old muffle furnace. I'm a retired assayer and mill designer. Great explore. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊

Scotty, what can I say? You did our trip to the Sheep Tank Mine justice with a superb video! I wish I (and my Jeep) would have been in better shape for this one. I was hurting when we completed it, but to borrow a verse, "The song has ended/But the melody lingers on." Wouldn't have traded it for anything. Yes, the Sheep Tank is 'way out there', but that's part of the allure. Thanks to you and Megan and Bob for this one. Well worth it, pal.

Agree, another great video. Really enjoy learning about the history of the mines you visit. Dare I venture and hope you will collaborate all that research information and write a book. I had pinned this mine when I was researching the GPS track for the AZPT. Your video will push this destination higher on the trips planned for 2024. Were you aware there is a natural arch on the East side of the AZPT? Thanks for sharing.

Kofa is a Wildlife Refuge not a Wilderness. Wilderness restricts all forms of access that aren't feet or horses. An important difference.

When within the boundaries of KOFA NWR or any Designated Wilderness area, flying a drone for any purpose is illegal.
