Hi Renee The first sweater is a Cowichan style and specific to the west coast of British Columbia/Vancouver Island. Check the label to see if it is authentic. They are knitted by Indigenous women and the wool is waterproof. Since the people were travelers you may have a treasure on your hands 🙋🏻♀️🇨🇦
@@KootenayBespoke Yes to the above. I have a vintage one of these that I paid over $400 for. I think they have come down in price but still very collectible and cool. Worn by The Big Lebowski also in the film of the same name.
So many of the people answering are like minded. Most of these sweaters are too good for the flea market. Travelers to cold climes, hikers, campers, would spend $$$ for most of these sweaters. They are super warm, wick perspiration, and are waterproof. $50.00 is cheap for the Irish, Peruvian Alpaca, Icelandic, Scottish sweaters. Woolrich, and Pendleton should sell for money too but not as much. One person at the flea market would buy them all and resell on eBay or Etsy for a fortune.
Be still my heart!!! What fabulous sweaters and knitwear. She me of the “oversized “ socks and mittens are knitted that way because they are intended to being shrunk in salt water. This was common when making fisherman’s wool gloves. They shrink to fit the wearer and are warm when they get wet.
I do VERY well on eBay with wool sweaters as you described. Not all sell well. Only the type you spoke of. And, yes, selling them AS IS with the photos works when you don't want to do the extra work. My base has been about $40 - $60 EACH... well worth a little extra for me.
Perfect timing for the winter. Amazing that you found all those sweaters right now, just as the weather's cooling down. You won't have any trouble selling them all no matter the venue. Woo Hoo!
I had one of the jumpers you pulled out in the 90s. Yep they were scratchy but quality and kept you super warm, so glad the chunky knitware it back in style.
You would make good money selling the Hilda, Pendleton and Woolrich sweaters on-line. If you do take them to the flea market, don't sell them too cheap.
I bought thrifted wool sweaters ( made mittens) and skirts for years! I had planned on making a wool appliqué quilt. That never happened but I saved all the cashmere with plans on making a simple quilted blanket with them. Got to love that thrifted cashmere as I’ve never had it for myself.
So many clothes and from different places. I wonder if they travelled and picked up a Jumper (sweater) in each country? The trunks were beautiful too. 💜🐨
Norwegian and Icelandic woolen sweaters are quite expensive as new; check the labels before reselling them. Best wishes and thanks for nice videos 🙋♀️
The timing couldn't have been better, finding all those sweaters to sell just as the weather is getting colder. It looks like they took good care of their things, so you should have no trouble selling them for a decent profit!
Renee, if the Cowichan sweater is authentic, I believe it's the most valuable sweater from the trunks, so please sell it online. I am looking to buy one! :)
Some of those sweaters sell for hundreds of dollars new. The buyers at the flea market will probably sell them all online - thanks, Renee. I would suggest a supplementary battery pack for your phone, a lot of RUclipsrs carry them.
Hi Renee. WOW! That place had a lot of stuff from all over the world. I am so happy you are taking them to Flea Markets and some others to good will. I hope you find more treasures for the Flea Market and for you to keep. God Bless you for all you do to help others. Please stay safe. Maria. 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑❤️❤️❤️❤️😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
More great stuff. The sweaters are great. Makes me wish I could wear wool. And lived in a place where there was the need for it. I know the trunks are not the stars of the show - but I have been refinishing trunks for a long time. Someone put a lot of work into those and all three look terrific (some light lining work necessary maybe - or remove it). Trunks aren't the hot commodity they were in the '80s & '90s (too bad for me - 53 waiting to be done in my basement) - but I would think you would be able to get $75-$175 for them on Marketplace. More if you didn't need to sell them immediately. Christmas is coming (look who I'm telling!). They also make great wedding / baby gifts - add an engraved brass nameplate
Beautiful sweaters so glad you found them the look like they haven't been worn much or some not at all love these videos thank you for sharing I noticed that you are getting close to 50 k subs that's great take care God bless 🙏🙏
I liked the thermal shirts you found. My question is: are you sure that light blue might be a color for you? I think some of the earthy tone clothing that you are attracted to do not always play up your beautiful eyes and complexion. Thanks for the interesting content today!
That is a treasure trove of grampa sweaters. That style is very 'in' right now. Just in time for sweater season- you can get $$$ for these on ebay or poshmark.
The clothes in the trunks are very nice quality. They didn't seem vintage to me with Chaps, Kohl's, J Lo, etc. Everything looks brand new and beautiful pieces from world travels. The trunks are beautiful. How fun 🌻🎃
Renne I know you don't like selling them online but some of these cost a fortune new certainly the Irish, Scottish and Norwegian. I'm sure they'd do well on line. You probably get sick of everyone telling you what to do🙄 lol. Just reading the comments and people are talking about trunks and I'm thinking swimming trunks I can't remember seeing them then the penny drops lol the trunks were in amazing condition too.
When you sell your sweaters, may I suggest you market them as “GRANDPA SWEATERS.” I’m a huge thrifter and my 16 yr old granddaughter has me on the lookout for very large men's sweaters. ALL the rage, right now!
To me it is mind-boggling what those people had in their house. They obviously threw nothing away & stored it carefully but it is sad that the clothing hasn't been passed on to someone who could have been wearing it all these years. The house owners just had too much storage space !!
I haven't shown all of the closets, but I'm venturing to say that some clothes must have been removed at some point... there aren't any pajamas, summer type clothing, undergarments, lounge wear, etc.
Looks like you are in my sun room...walls are the same color, as is the windows and trim! Lot's of heavy winter duds! I don't care for 100% wool garments either...itchy---itchy!! I favor vest sweaters...keep the back and chest warm, without the bulk. They had a very nice collection of sweaters...great, none from China. Speaking of clothes and such...better get your Halloween garments, candies, and jack-o-lanterns...was watching the news, and they had a clip on Halloween items in short supply! Boo!
I love the way wool sweaters look but I am allergic too wool. It gives me a rash. I once had wool pants that were lined. I thought they would be ok but no they were still itchy. At least I didn’t get a rash but I could not wear them.
This was so interesting Renee. Was the jumper with Edinburgh spelt like this?If so its pronounced Edinborough..crazy I know..wait till you hit on Irish spellings and pronunciations...eye watering.
"Eden-burg" is actually "Eddin-burruh" and that Scottish wool sweater was NOT cheap ... no doubt purchased on a trip to Scotland. And the Jantzen is likely quite vintage ... often highly prized in the Pacific Northwest ... here, where the company began. You didn't show it too much, but it looked 60s to me ... could be worth some $$$ on eBay ... probably worth the hassle..
OK if that’s a Cowichan Indian sweater it is pretty valuable. It depends on the pattern. I live in Cowichan and the women here make them and ship them all over the world. They last forever and are incredibly warm and keep you dry. I saw it had a label so if it’s a knock off it should be destroyed as it’s not saleable(much like Coach handbags). The Norwegian sweaters can also be valuable so check out carefully(brand is important).
Renee, That jacket that is Travel Smith is an expensive brand. They had some really expensive clothing. Maybe picked up in their travels. Please be carefully pricing them, not cheap that's for sure.
those big bulky sweaters would probably be of interest to Prop buyers for movies, tv shows and such. I can just picture the sweaters worn by stars on foggy beach scenes, mountains, like you said Rene', at the cabin by a fire pit just before the werewolf grabs them... ok, I made that last part up! I hope you research them before giving them away at the flea, you need to be paid for your work!
The only measurements I pay attention to when buying online are shoulder to cuff, shoulder to hem, shoulder to armpit, and armpit to armpit. Pictures tell me what the fit would be...blousy with a snug hem, shaped or tailored, or straight with no shaping or tailoring.
I forgot, or maybe you never said, are the people who owned it all deceased? If not, I can't imagine just walking away from it all, unless the lotto was hit so super hard---they didn't care, maybe only took photos & cherished things. Would love to help with a clean out as interesting as that ! Wowza! Please if you do another there, take that battery out of smoke detector. Please!
Looks like some nice wool sweaters. I do well selling them on EBay describing them as “ Bushcraft “ sweaters. Bushcraft is sort like traditional camping and is pretty popular today and it’s devotees love wool of course and will pay for quality. The word Bushcraft makes them find your auction I picked up a neat old Victorian black mourning cape yesterday, is in unusually good condition too.
I'm with Renee on selling clothing on line. People are often less buyers than renters and will find an excuse to return an item on your dime if they can. The flea market prices may be lower but all sales are final.
Hello Renee. I don’t think I would want to sell on line either. I mean measure the piece and all that uugggg . But I wouldn’t want to sell them so cheap at the flea market either. Some of them looked very interesting. I like my sweaters lose fitting. There more comfortable that way . Take care. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️☕️🫖☕️🫖🥰🥰💯💯💯💯

I agree. Renee should sell those sweaters online. Not eBay but a more upscale like Poshmark.
All the pure wool items you are never cold or sweaty.Sheepskin car seat covers, cool in the summer, warm in the winter.

What beautiful finds you found today. Awesome. I so enjoyed.

They had good taste in everything.
All high quality goods. With winter coming you should have no problem selling those right now.
