    • @ldnboy07
      @ldnboy07 9 месяцев назад +2

      Yup, he has peaked, has got the salary, sponsorships, endorsement deals that he wanted plus a rather lengthy contract as well. He doesn't have any incentives anymore now to make him work harder and play better except maybe to win a trophy which I suspect he doesn't even care enough for! It may sound strange for normal fans and for top, respectful players (who respect their fans, clubs and want to win for their clubs) and it should. Because especially for one of the most experienced player & a childhood supporter of United, even wirhout the money & the armband, he must be the one to rally up his teammates, work his ass off and show it with an example. Atm, he isn't doing and showing anything worth 10k/week, let alone 350k or so. He is always the weakest point when defending, his goals covered it up then but it is obvious now, as is the presence of massive numbers or fat rats at Old Trafford. He isn't a good football role model for the youngsters which is very important for the development of the youngins, the team & the club as a whole.

  • @jasonhutchinson8060
    @jasonhutchinson8060 9 месяцев назад +278

    Souness is right. Rashford only played well and put in a shift last season because he was in the last year of his deal. As soon as he signs a new deal his performance sucks, he refuses to track back and he has gone back to his true priority: being a social media star like his mate Jesse Lingard of TikTok. The faster we dump the overrated Rashford, the better. He has never produced consistently. Ever.

      That's 100% right no doubt at all ! I'm a United fan and have seen this 2 maybe 3 times from Rashford, as soon as he gets a new deal he slacks off. He has the potential to be a world class player still but I doubt very much that Rashford can do what he did last season, or even half of it consistently every year. This is what makes a top player world class, consistency and Rashford does not have this trait and if he did we would have seen it by now. He's a "form" player. It's scary when I truly believe this fact that I would pock a prime Young, Valencia or Nani over Rashford any day of the week and Rashford is the better player on his day.

  • @beatenbytheclown

    I’ll probably get stick for bringing up American sports here but Rashford looks to be what is termed in the NBA a contract year player. It’s often said that serial winners like Tom Brady and Michael Jordan hated losing more than they liked winning, to the point that it even caused them problems outside of their sporting careers. Indeed Brady famously left money on the table when it came to his contract just so he could have a better team around him. At this stage I think Rashford and pretty much the rest of the United squad don’t have that mentality. The likes of Casemiro and Varane have won it all and the likes of Rashford are probably like most people including myself, where the intense desire to win will be dulled if we’re sitting on a pretty fat pay cheque.
    Utd clearly have missed a step with player mentality when it comes to recruitment and any player who is serious about winning trophies won’t play for them until they sort it out. It always struck me as weird that Utd were ruled out of the running when it came to signing the likes of Kane or Bellingham on financial grounds when it seemed clear as day to me that neither player would even want to go there. They’ve got too many mercenaries or veterans looking for a last pay day in their squad. And surrounding younger ‘project’ players like Garnacho and Hojlund with those type of players will be mostly detrimental to their development. I’m not a Ronaldo fanboy but he’s looking more correct in his assessment of the club in hindsight.
    Rashford is a symptom of a larger problem.

    Unfortunately, Rashford is seeing the repercussions of being elevated onto a social pedestal during a period of taking the knee to certain demographics. He was bestowed with saintly powers which were neither deserved or requested by him. He has always been no more than an average player, but his star was raised to that of a social hero, a beacon for the oppressed in a period of cultural hysteria. This, in part, also explains his selection by Southgate, a man who never misses an opportunity to lecture to the rest of us from his own platform of self righteousness. I feel that all of this has cast an unfair expectation on Rashford. Perhaps these players should be seen as icons for their sport and not for ideological lecturing to the masses.

Maybe it’s a coincidence or maybe being the modern day Mother Theresa brings with it pressures someone in their early twenties cannot cope with.
