That was an excellent tutorial. And you did a great job of saying what is not in the video as well. I feel a million times less intimidated.
That undo thing was killing me, I had such a relief when you explained it was the autosave, you're a saint. Looking forward to joining the channel.

Tom, thanks so much for your videos on MS Project, they are clear and concise!
I have only used MS Project for Schedule Management and have not been able to effectively use MS Project for Budget Management. The projects I work on involve Fixed Price Contracts with a lot of different Trade Contractors. Since these are Fixed Price Contracts, it seems that using a Cost Resource would be the appropriate tool for Budget Management, but the problem that I have is that MS Project calculates the Cost Incurred as being linear based on duration. In my projects, the Cost Incurred has no correlation with the duration because the Cost Incurred is lumpy for each and every Trade Contractor. I would like to update MS Project with the Cost Incurred as I receive each Trade Contractor’s invoice, but when I try to perform Budget Management, MS Project adjust my Schedule Management and it does not understand that the two are completely independent. Unless there is a way to separate these two and not have MS Project perform calculations based on one or the other, I will be stuck only using MS Project for Schedule Management only. If there is any guidance you can share, I would be very grateful.

Tom - Having a bad day so could really do with your help. I have a project which starts at the start date but i need to show as a vertical line my contractual end date and then if i go beyond this then the tasks go red as we are now in the critical path. Hope that makes sense and thanks in advance

What is your opinion on not setting a start date until you have the project planned? other videos i have watched they recommended you wait until after to set a start date.

The thing about the start date is you can change it at any point until the project starts. Without a tentative start date how do you plan?

You never save the project. What file formats are available? Microsoft seems to be getting rid of the mpp file extension. Does this version have it?
