Great tutorial, thanks so much! I've been using Project for almost a year, but functioning basically as a to-do list. This has shown me how to easily place tasks in the timeline using the predecessor column! Off to browse your other tutorials, hopefully to find one that might explain how to nest sub-projects into a bigger master plan!
I have an in class scheduling final where we have to put a schedule together for a project we have never seen before. This was extremely helpful and straightforward, giving me a solid setup to build off of! Thank you!
Every teacher should strive to inspire students, making learning enjoyable rather than burdensome. Thank you, Alvin, for exemplifying these values and I've recently cracked my PMO certification from PMI in first try.
My pleasure! Could you please share this video with any of your friends or colleagues who you think might find it helpful? Spreading the word means a lot to me!
The video had given me very clear understanding of estimating project cost. I can now say how do people allocate time and budget for a project and a task. Thank you!
This is fantastic. By linking the training to a real-world example, it was easy to follow and understand. Subscribed, and looking up more of your courses. Thanks!
Just wow! i have been looking at so many video's but you have been the best tutor & have explained so well that now i am confident i can work on MS project plan. Thank you so much
@Beth Fuller, so glad you found the video helpful! Stay tuned as I'll release even more videos about MS Project and other software tutorials to help you manage projects more effectively!
Hi Alvin, I recently decided to pivot towards project management as a career, and have started to look at job descriptions. I must say this has been extremely informative considering this is the first time I have researched the subject matter. Microsoft Project was one of the requirements on the JD and this video has eased me into the program. Thank you.
Great Job. You should be a corporate technology trainer. You use the most efficient ways to demonstrate the techniques and your pace was just right being not too slow and not too fast.
It's very amazing. I was so worried after my sir gave the microsoft project assignment. But after watching this I think it is soo simple assignment. All thankz to youuu... Thanks a lot sir. Love from Sri Lanka ❤🎉
Wow. This tutorial video is like a 6G download to my frontal cortex. I’ve watched two other Microsoft Project tutorials that were about an hour each, and got zero mental framework. This one hits the mark. Well done!
Incredible job. Your presentation of the real-world example was exceptional and immensely valuable. Such high-quality content is impactful and greatly appreciated.
Superb course! It’s so easy to understand. Thank you very much for sharing this wealth of information for free. P.S.: Loved the 'The Office' reference.
Thank you Nam, I'm so glad the video was helpful! Microsoft Project can seem really daunting, but once you focus on the most important functions, you can easily learn how to create and manage your own projects using the software! Stay tuned for more videos about breaking into the field of Project Management soon!
Thanks a ton Alvin. It helped me a lot. I have problem, my start and end dates change, as soon as I put a different actual start and end date. Say if ther task took more time than planned iwant mpp to allow me to enter actual dates, it changes even the start and end dates..where am I doing mistake..?
Hi Alvin, why I cannot put on Predecessors, with selected number like for example 3,4 or 5,7 to the next line like your on your video in minutes 3:33? It is stated there is problem with the predecessors information?
Hi, Great video. I would like to use Microsoft project for production management at shop floor, with different machines, BOMs and so on, and track each line item of sales order, is it the right product, please advise.
Excellent video, one question! how do I set up a task with several labor workers starting on different dates?, I don-t want to add each labour on Resources Sheet, only put 100 Labours and then add for each task 10 labours... my problem is how I can put 5 labours start with the task start date and the rest 5 days later?
Thanks a million, Alvin. This was so informative and easy to understand, especially with the real life, every day project example used. I really have gained a lot of value from this video. I am definitely subscribed now and looking forward to learning more from you. God bless you, man. Cheers
Do u recommend that I enter multiple projects in one chart? For example my projects a, b and c consist of 3-4 tasks, should I create separate charts for each one or can I enter them all in the same one?
Why were numbers like 5 and 9 skipped in the predecessor column. Was it to allow for more time to take place in between certain tasks or just an arbitrary decision that really has no meaning? Just trying to understand as I am new to understanding PM. Thanks in advance
I don't understand something. At around 6:30 for task #14 you specify predecessors 8,11,13 but if 13 already depends on 11 being done why list 8, 11? Why not just have 13 as the sole predecessor? Your systems seems to suggest that if a late stage task required hundreds of tasks to have been completed beforehand, that each and every one should be listed as a predecessor.
@zoomingby: The materials required for building the platform are different than those needed to cut wood... hence the predecessor needs to include 11 as well. In the same way, the finalize design is to be completed before the platform work can begin.. and hence the predecessor 8. I hope it clarifies.
Great video.. Has everything a person need to understand how to kick start journey in easy to follow instructions.. Do you have a video on planning wizard error.. Getting message everytime I open ms project.. Conflict with line item.. Xx
That's correct, you'll need Microsoft Project to open up the exercise file. Hope that helps! If you don't have one on your personal computer, try to see if you can open this using MS Project using your work computer.
While Iam scheduling the activities the problem being faced is that the finish date of the predecessor is coming as the start date of the successor even after providing FS. How to solve this.
If my project includes dependencies on other contractors, how to show those dependencies in the MS project as they add to the project cost if not shown separately
Is there a way to have different tasks that take different amounts of time to end at the same time automatically? Basically, I give at end date for a project and it. I enter duration of different tasks and it automatically gives the start date
very insightful alvin! Question, ive been trying to perform subtraction of a custom field VS % Complete, but it results in #ERROR, any recommendation for this ?
Hi Sir. Good Day. I encountered problems with Microsoft project which is Publish Failure (error 23000)I suspect it was corrupted. I am thinking of how am I going to unpublish the workplan since it always fail to publish. Your response will be appreciated. Thankyou
