    MAGNIFICENT!
    One of the best performances!
The second beautiful piece - die Partnerschaft von attackieredem Zugriff und lyrischer Sangeskunst. Herrliche Annie Fischer! :-)

So glad you enjoyed it! Annie Fischer was a very great pianist. I recommend her Schubert and her Mozart Concertos as well.

@@punkpoetry He certainly understood Schumann better than anyone, even though he was far from note-perfect.

At long LAST I've gotten to this, James. It has been well worth wait. This is marvellous piano playing. Excellent all the way through, absolutely brilliant and more sensitive and deeply introspective than I would normally expect from this artist. I have held up Horowitz, Imogen Cooper and Martha Argerich as shining interpreters of Kreisleriana, which they are, but THIS is extraordinarily powerful -- a bold, almost masculine approach to this mystical work. Wonderful! Even so, I have always had -- and still have -- reservations about Fischer's basic piano SOUND. In loud and fast passages it tends to sound a little murky and often "clangy" to the point of harshness. The effect sometimes seems overly aggressive and overblown. In the lyrical sections, however, she shows an appropriate restraint and a remarkable degree of tenderness, while maintaining an admirable degree of continuity among the eight distinctly different wildly mysterious, sometimes boisterous children of Schumann's vivid imagination. Sound deficits or not this could only called a great performance.

27:00 To 27:43 the theme is short and in passing, but toughes the height of perfection

Overall a magnificent performance I think, full of fire and drive but also sensitivity. For me., it is very slightly marred by the tendency to rush in the last movement, but great playing for all that.

This is incredible! Can this be found on CD?

It certainly can! I had the original Columbia LP, and subsequently a double CD from EMI, and now an ICON box from Warner. There is also a live version also very good: I think this is the studio version. It has long been on of my favourite performances, along with Yves Nat and Horowitz.
