    Hey man! Loved the M&P 2.0 big hands video!! I wanted to comment but comments were turned off. I have the same gun myself. M&P 2.0 is not the red-headed stepchild anymore. More and more people know about it. It's an excellent pistol and the more I shoot it the more I love it. I carry outside the waistband. If you carry appendix just wear an undershirt. It's not that hot in Michigan anyway. Stay safe, and God bless!

      Yea RUclips has been weird about turning off comments to creators channels without telling us.
      Ha yea I do like the M&P it is in my carry rotation. That thing points so well. I just put the SRO back on it and upgraded the trigger with an apex flatty. Super nice gun. I still like the Walther best but my g45 and M&P are a close second

    I actually like the functionality of it being so big it makes it easier to hit. It it also helps for officers on duty if they use gloves.I disagree its a matter of grip and learning the grip on the pistol it took not very long but i can transition from my glock and my pdps the only pistol i carry or use on duty. I think there are ways around learning to use the pistol without cutting the slide lock i. Its also not the biggest deal becuase if you know tour gun you will realize you need to mag change even if it dosent go to slide lock

      My hand is big enough for none of that to matter. I have never had a problem with reaching the slide release lever. And of course you don’t need to go into slide lock but if I can modify it to achieve slide lock without messing with reliability of the gun then I’m okay with it. It’s a more than capable gun without doing this but I’d rather have it than no have it if I had the choice.

    Thanks for the video! Always enjoy them. And hey, there's nothing wrong with making the pistol work for you. That's called gunsmithing lol. I had the same thing happen when I shot a friend of mine's PDP. Meh. I had considered getting one, I do like the way it feels, but that, and some other problems people have run into with that pistol, made me decide otherwise and I ended up with another Glock. 😂. They just do it for me.

      Personally I like this gun way more than a glock. It took many many rounds and range visits to figure that out but the compact PDP just checks all the boxes with me. Especially with accuracy. Tightest groups I have ever shot was with this gun and Ive been shooting glocks for over a decade. The high bore axis took a bit to get used to but I like that it has a glock style grip angle but fits my hand a touch better

      @@MichiganDad Hey, if you are comfortable with it, party on. It doesn't check off the reliability box for me, like I said I've seen enough reports of various malfunctions on them to feel uncomfortable. Just like with Sig, you couldn't give me one of the polymer ones, although I think the older metal models are fine and I own two of them. I think if I was to buy another pistol, and I really didn't want to get Glock, I would go with H&K. But like I said, to each his own. Those are just my opinions and preferences. 😊

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  4 месяца назад

      That is exactly why I enjoy our conversations bc I also believe your point of view as well. I have actually had no malfunctions with either. But that is also with 6 thousand rounds through Glocks and only 1200 through the PDP. I’m more comparing a Glock 19 to this compact PDP. My extra large hands love the compact PDP frame over the compact Glock frame. That is where having large hands suck. But who knows I am going to keep carrying and shooting the PDP to see if my opinion changes. I do really like what this modification did to the functionality of this gun 👍

    Stiffer after market mag springs solved my problem of slide lock failure. It does lose one round capacity wuth them, but no carving on the weapon needed.

    If you have to alter the gun the gun is not for you.

    • @MichiganDad

      When you have giant man hands sometimes you don’t have options with guns. This is only compact where my hand fully fits on the frame and it barely fits. So if I have to modify it for it to function 100% then i am going to do it.

      @@MichiganDad I think you have to adapt. If you watch hickok45 and his son who have catchers mitts for hands, they shoots ccw guns by adapting to the size. It's amazing I'm sure you watched his channel before.

    Definitely would wanna do this but it makes the gun ugly.

      I get it. But also I would always choose functionality over beauty. And this mod makes this gun function like a champ.

    Which version of the PDP do you have?

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  4 месяца назад

      It is the 4” compact. It actually fits my extra large hands like a glove which is a miracle in itself. I use the medium back strap with it

    I was having the same issue. Saw serval videos and it looks like a grip issue, of the user riding the slide lock with strong side thumb. This video is an alternat way to address it. It's worth a peak.

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  4 месяца назад

      My issue is not my right hand thumb it’s my entire left hand. Ppl don’t seem to get this. When you have XL glove hands like I barely fit into an XL glove. My left hand completely covers the whole left side of the gun. So my left hand palm covers the slide stop on most guns. It’s not a big deal but cutting the lever works for me bc it puts the Slide stop lever slightly in front of my left hand palm so I’m not covering it up.
      I watched this video when it first came out and it’s actually terrible advice. Your right hand thumb is important in grip. It should wrap around the beaver tail and up. This helps secure the gun. After figuring that out my right hand thumb is always been pointing up which has helped with recoil control. Scott from modern samauri project explains it better.
      And I refuse to have a passive grip. I like the palms high grip.

      @@MichiganDad No problem were all trying to help each other. I'm having that problem with my PDP and this is the first thing that made senses I'll be testing this week coming. I'm hoping that I don't need the same pistol mod you did, and I can make the grip adjustment. I'll check out the video when it drops.

    • @MichiganDad

      @@timothyjackson1779 My philosophy is don’t change your grip bc of the firearm design. If the hands high grip works for you then keep it. You don’t “need” slide lock but it is nice to have it. My Glock is like 50% slide lock 50% not lol I just live with it.

  • @alexhanson8697
    @alexhanson8697 4 месяца назад

    you likely didnt need to go to all that work and ruined a slide stop lever for nothing. This isnt a hand size issue, you just need to change something to lower your grip on the pistol. Many high level shooters talk about it being unnecessary to be up so high on the grip, whether you have small or large hands. Typically the only problem large hands cause is not having enough grip on the support side of the gun for your support hand to make contact with the pistol. Which can be fixed by swapping to large backstraps typically. Heres a link to Mason Lane explaining and showing this really well. Ben Stoeger has a few videos explaining grip also. ruclips.net/video/5ePH4d3WZv0/видео.htmlsi=YPsr0HHjR6w7xE--

      Trust me on this I’ve tried every grip out there. I didn’t start with this grip. But for me this one works best by far. Not everybody fits into a little box. You need to understand, just like I tell my students, there are many different ways or techniques to achieve the same goal.
      You don’t even need slide lock as a shooter but I wanted to create a video that was kinda unique. Something that would help ppl.

    • @alexhanson8697

      @@MichiganDad sure everyone’s hands are different but when you say “this grip works best for me” it’s hard to quantify how valid that opinion is. Sorry for throwing some shade but I can’t see anywhere if you compete or what class shooter you are, if you shoot a uspsa match and are like a D or C class shooter, your statements about proper grip don’t carry much authority. I hope someone doesn’t see this and decide to cut on their gun and ruin parts when it’s most likely they needed to just adjust their hand lower. Maybe I’m mistaken and you are like an M or GM class shooter, if so I ld love a more in depth video on your grip and why you need to hold the gun that way
