Thanks so much for watching! Let me know some of your favorite memories from what season 4 of Yu-Gi-Oh! has to offer!
Are you planning to go through other yugioh series after this? If not, are you also going to go over all the other movies?
DAMN YOUR FAST ASF
you can't leave out GX, right?
30:00 my favorite duel from this season
Are you going to do the dark side of dimension with the next video, also are you going to do the other yugioh series as well
I will always remember Yami Yugi losing that duel to Raphael. He was more hurt about losing Yugi rather than losing the duel
Especially as he lost by proving Raphael right about the darkness in his heart by using the Seal himself making the loss a point of hubris.
The Pharoah losing that duel is still one of the most shocking and upsetting things to ever happen lol it felt like a nightmare, and then poor little Yugi's soul gets taken away to top it all off 😞
I actually wanted Yami yugi to keep the seal and go bad guy for a while and possibly take out dartz while with the seal. Would have ben more intresting then the tired old my friend is gone gota save him
@@agreb25I was so upset when they pulled that swerve and let yugi get taken by the seal. I really wanted Yamin yugi to go bad guy and go for darzt
kaiba cares more about winning than yami...well he cares more about not losing rather
This season makes Mai a standout character. Leaving aside the love triangle thing, it shows there is some real PTSD going on with her after being in the Shadow Realm.
You really would after shit like that. Lets not forget "Shadow Realm" is a nice way of saying "you dead".
@@maximumrisk2004the shadow realm is very much a fate worse than death.
@@cui8789 Actually yeah, the way they depicted it certainly felt worse.
Except that's not what they actually focus on. What they focus on is her inadequacy as a duelist and her feelings of inferiority compared to the likes of Yugi and Jonochi. In fact I'd argue that this arc basically assassinated her character by making her betray them after 2 seasons of building up her friendship with the group only to rip it away and not even have the decency to try to repair it after its done. This season left Mai worse off than before and most people fail to realize that.
@@dustinvance243faxxx but Mai still my favorite character
The bit where Kaiba casually writes a check for the sports car is one of the best flexs in anime
His dub voice actor absolutely killed it that season too. Like, he was always excellent but I feel like they let him be just a tiny bit more playful in this season and it's great.
I remember this part of the series better for its Abridged version.
Kaiba freaking out over Yugi losing a card game. Such a fun scene.
Fun fact!
This arc is weirdly enough one of the most accurate Atlantean myths ever. In the original mythos, there ARE characters named Timaeus, Criitas, and Hermos, and the element of orichalcum is all over the place.
I really hope you continue this series past the original characters. GX was my shit back in the day!
I won’t lie, I really enjoyed Season 4. Really took character flaws and put some real consequence to it. Was some stuff crazy like infinity? Absolutely but damn if the stakes wasn’t hype even if absurd at times. Plus Doma felt like such a genuinely dangerous force and not just one person
One thing I really liked about the dub of this season was that Wayne Grayson, Joey's VA, was also playing Dartz.
Grayson is versatile
Didn't he voice shadi too?
Yup @@theentity5201
he does some characters in the GX dub as well
WHAT
Next you'll try to convince me that Kaiba and Brock from Pokemon have the same voice.
My favorite part of that season was, "Draw! Monster Cardo!"
Doro!
Same I was waiting for it
The abridged series noted this too
We know chances are if we’re watching this video we’re pretty much caught up with the abridged series as well
"DORA!! MONSUTA KAADO!!"
Raphael: "Are you good, or are you evil?"
*(The Seal of Orichalcos appears on Yami's forehead, then zooms out to an Evil looking Yami)*
Raphael: ..."So tell me, how do you feel? Hahaha!"
I'll never forget that cliffhanger, that final shot of Evil Yami gave me chills.
The fact you're gonna finish this before YuGiOh abridged finishes is honestly wild af
honestly yamis overkilling weevil with berserker soul was most memorable for me since it showed his rage.
I enjoyed the pure insanity of season 4, but I mostly enjoyed the duels. The Yugi/Weevil and Joey/Rex rematches are among my favourites. But the Dragon fusions were amazing. It's great to see them finally being made into real cards in the last couple years.
What I really enjoyed the most about this season is that a storyline was still written for Mai Valentine. She is my favorite character. Yes it’s sad that they kind of missed the mark with her story. It’s important to note that in the manga she wasn’t really seen again after her duel with Marik (season 3). So her being written in to season 4 as a character that actually had importance to the plot was very nice for a Mai fan like myself.
Simp
I agree they did kind of miss the mark, especially with her duel with Rafael not being shown which I will die mad about, but her arc is definitely one of the strongest arcs in the entire show and I think she honestly gets more overall development/growth than any of the other characters except Yugi himself.
The deeper reason for Yami using the seal of orichalcos to me is this, Yami Yugi knew nothing about his past at the time, ever since he first appeared his whole goal was to win games for Yugi, his whole identity was to win games for Yugi, without that he had no identity. And when his identity was on the line againat rafael, he used the seal to save his identity
(litterally just me rambling.)
Yapping
I will say that Yugioh mostly did filler quite well. Having it tie into the main plot in major ways. The virtual world arcs explores the backstory of Seto and his relationship with his step father. Using the original manga as inspiration, since this anime skipped over that section. While also giving more screen time to the Big Five. Whom just disappear from the Manga following Duelist Kingdom. The Doma arc uses Dartz as a dark reflection of 'The Nameless Pharaoh' and causes said Pharaoh to doubt himself. Confronting the darkness in his heart that was seen in the original chapters of the Manga. How his lust for victory nearly became his downfall. While also giving Joey and other side characters some love and development. Also as a sidenote. The two duels with Raphael are my favourites in the series. I just love how Atem uses Eatos to free Raph from Dreadscythe. Showing that Eatos never truly gave up on him. This connection between duelist and monster spirit also plays a key role in the final arc. As we learn about who exactly the Dark Magician is and why Seto is obessed with the Blue Eyes White Dragon. And who was that mysterious women he saw in his vision during Battle City.
Just a shame that the filler arc after the Doma one is the worst out of all of them imo.
I also like how the sequel spin off series, Yugioh GX would expand on the duelist, duel monster relationship. Even making one relationship the main focus of season 3. Damn that Light of Ruin, using Yubel as an ace in the hole.
Jordan you’ve been pushing these out I APPRECIATE YOUUU
This is the best filler arc ever. Real stakes, meaningful character development, and great villains. It has it all!
It bridges the gap into the final arc so well. If only more anime filler could succeed where this one did
I remember being so excited when someone named Raphael (my name) not only showed up in the series, but also managed to beat Yugi.
I love that season 4 rteally gives Joey a purpose and a place firmly in the world , hes always kind of looked at as a great but not one of the best duelists but until this arc and he really comes into his own a one of the legendary duelists of all time , even truely earning the respect of Kiba seeing him as an equal .
My favourite arc in all of Yu-Gi-Oh. Yugi sacrificing himself to save Yami was completely surprising to me. I absolutely loved every minute of it.
the thing i love the most about that duel is yami didnt need to win the duel, rapheal didnt play the seal and was gonna win without it but yami's bane got the best of him , he wanted to win reguardless of there being no stakes to that battle, it showed that while the pharoh is good he still has flaws that yugi helped him overcome by the time he was ready to leave the world.
@@reverse7503 yeah definitely!
With all the power of the Millennium Puzzle, I BREAK THE SEAL!!
My boy is better at using the power of the Millennium Items than the Pharaoh, I'mma just say it.
Also, it is rather important to mention that, every monster that is captured by the seal of Orichalcos gets 500 ATK points. In each episode. 😆
I believe we also need at least one flashback to Yugi's soul being taken per episode please, just in case the viewers forget.
Absolutely love that you’re uploading the other parts in quick succession. Thought I wouldn’t even see a part 2 until after the fringemas
This is a major part of my childhood as well. Thank you for covering it.
Thank you!!!!! Definitely enjoyed this series. Yu-Gi-Oh was my jam growing up. So many hours spent dueling
When Yugi lost to Dartz, I remember just how crazy that was. All my friends met up at school and were shook. So unexpected, but so good
@@frewthelookingglass860 yeah Raphael- my bad. But still crazy 🤣
Making me want to rewatch the entire anime. If only there was a Yugioh Kai
There's YuGiOH abridged at least :)
New episodes weekly. The best joke of YGOA
It existed, but it's pretty worse than Kai. Don't worth at all.
The Joey vs Valon battle was the best of the season, I still think about it to this day
My man said "heard you like the first part, heres the other 3" blessin us this holiday season fringe
This may be a hot take but this is my favorite season of the show. It always had the highest stakes for the Pharoah to me and gave the most weight to the show on the rest of the world which I love.
The fact that these videos are getting cranked out so quickly and with such good quality is awesome. Great Job!
The Waking the Dragons Arc embodies the best and worst aspects of Yu-Gi-Oh. And I love it for that. It shows what makes this show so great and so frustrating at times. Sadly as much as this season was a high. We're about to hit what I consider the lowest point in the series. Not the stuff with the Pharaoh. But the Tournament arc. God...however that's for next time. Until we meet again mein friend
Dawn of the duel was great but yeah the tournament arc and the capsule monsters arc were my least favorite
The waking of the dragons is a filler arc lol,
By Yu-Gi-Oh standards (even compared to later series), the Oricalcos arc was really, REALLY dark.
This is one of my favorite seasons and its crazy how good it is considering it's just a filler season
I don't care what anyone says, this is my favorite season. I love it so much. The writing, (dub) music, and animation are so enjoyable. It's very over-the-top but honestly I think Yu-Gi-Oh is at its best when it's at its most over-the-top. It gives SO much character development for so many characters, actually made me like Joey (I couldn't stand him as a kid before that), and gave me one of my first bara crushes in Raphael. I see why some people feel like it's "interrupting" the main plot but I feel like the development that Atem gets from this season is far beyond anything in any of the other seasons, even the final one. The actual tone is fantastic and it's just got so much fun world-building to work with.
Also, I counted and you said Orichalcos approximately the same number of times they flash back to the "The Seal 🦭 only needs one of us, so I'm letting it take me instead" scene 😂😂 (Is the season perfect? No. No it isn't.)
I love that gamer supps plug. One of my favorite skits
Although I love the fact that Mai is a big character in this season, I wish they would have changed a few things.
- I like the PTSD angle and wish it was explored in a different way. She could have started the season off as traumatized but still one of the good guys, slowly going darker and more revenge driven and finally falling to the Orichalcos like Yami.
- It would have made more sense if she went after Marik instead of Pegasus and giving her an on screen win against Marik where she is struggling to win, doubting herself and then finally using the Seal of Orichalcos that Valon gave her to finish him off. It would have given her another much needed win over a big character and driven her into darkness. Then, after Joey and others realize that she has gone too far they face off and Joey loses like in the anime but Mai still realizes what she did was wrong.
- I also wish she was included in the final season. Things were left pretty sour with her character at the end of S4 so I wish there was some resolution.
This season was so RAW! So many badass moments that improved the show.
Thank you so much for uploading all these parts back to back !! I really appreciate it
Glad to see the upload! Was getting a bit scared there! its 11:47 my time, was worried you might miss that deadline, but you made it! Thank you so much for the work you put into this Fringemas! I'm sure you've been busy as hell, but just know you've been producing some quality content across both channels! Been loving it this year!
This mad lad really uploading hour long highly edited videos every single day for Christmas. MVP.
I have strong memories of seeing 4kids tv airing this season while I was at the gym with my parents when I was younger. I was a sucker for this whole season and storyline and even upon watching the full show, this remains one of my favorite arcs. The emotional stakes for everybody were so intense and real - the Pharoah truly coming into his own and developing as a character (essentially having his own form of the hero's journey) instead of just being this mysterious other spirit that just....exists inside Yugi that only the main characters really know about, the villain group all having their own backstories and traumas leading them to the bad guys, the emotional stakes and symbolism in every duel - with the 'themed' decks of the bad guys all relating back not just to their preferences, but to their backstories and how they came to be, the way the previous shadow games arc actually has residual consequences, the symbolism in both of the duels with Raphael - especially how whoever played and controlled the power of the Seal lost the duel, signifying that darkness doesn't win, etc.
Just really really good storytelling and action and cool monsters and battles and really good character stuff too - really impressive
I am very much enjoying these recaps of this show. I loved watching this show growing up, I've even won a duel or two in my life! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been loving this series. Thanks for recapping the series.
Blues Tyrant Dragon is a dope fusion and Joeys Red Eyes Armor is so freakin cool🔥
The Transition for the ADs is perfect and even has nostalgia feels.
Agreed
The only rhing is dislike about this season is Mai's voice actor changing. It's a pretty good side story. Lots of cool characters.
I remember hating this change when I was watching.
This has been fantastic. Each video has been great in the series. Congratulations!
I cannot tell you how much I'm enjoying this series brother; the nostalgia is hitting and I'm also very happy I don't have to watch over the entire series now 😅
Keep doing what you're doing man. It is truly appreciated. ❤
I love you. Just when I need it a much needed dose of nostalgia! Thanks so much and I wish you a Merry Christmas man
Have a merry Christmas and enjoy your new year! Another incredible year of nostalgia with many more to go, keep up the hard work! Maybe we can see a ducktales video in the future? ;)
I can’t wait for the complete video of these episodes put together so I can go to bed with it playing
Really enjoyed the deepdive into this era of yugioh, I hope you continue this at some point with the other yugioh shows in the future
Jordan, I appreciate your videos. Esp. the pokemon ones and these yugioh ones are no exception! i haven't watched a lot of yugioh in years and I grew up with the original yami yugi anime and the older cards. I've been collecting the cards since day one and these videos are mega nostalgic! thanks!
Awesome as always thanks! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and all those who celebrate!
I am following this series just to see how Jordan will react to A CARD DUEL BUT WITH MOTORCYCLE
Merry Christmas and cheers for the vid
I hope you do Part 5! Absolute must after Binging the first 4.
I'm still convinced that season 4 is a fever dream I made up but, man, I wish there were character beats from that season that had been followed up on more. Namely Mai.
I'm loving these videos and it's bringing back so many memories of my enjoyment of this series.
This is definitely one of my top three seasons of this show. It's so memorable and leads so well into my top favorite season, season five. One and five have to be my favorites, though Joey vs. Yugi in season two holds a special place for me. Thanks Jordan!
i was in love with this arc as a kid
I remember Season 4 being basically my only exposure to the original DM anime considering I had a DVD that had the first 7 episodes of the series on it, and then just being a GX kid due to the Elemental Heroes being extremely reminiscent of Power Rangers. But WOW it's insane to think that Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon was used in this season made in 2003, yet wasn't printed into the TCG for 19 years until Battle of Chaos in 2022.
Hey its you!
honestly I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you taking the time to edit the OG 4kids tv break in there
I was expecting this after Christmas. Thank you for posting this
This has brought up so many good memories of watching this show every morning before school :) think you’ll keep it going and do GX?
Yo, this champ comes out with three, long Yugioh videos around Christmas is goated. Appreciate you Jordan
You're on a roll! So happy to see this series of videos.
This is hands down my favorite season, because it's emotional, and there are stakes, and it has some good call-backs to the original season, as well as foreshadowing to the last. My one complaint was the lack of Yami Bakura. There were so many interesting ways he could have affected this season - would he want the power, or consider it a threat to his own designs? If he got involved and lost, would Ryou pull a Yugi, or be unable to because of the way Yami Bakura operates with him? Would Yami Bakura's soul being captured fast-track the summoning of the leviathan, corrupt it, or destroy it? So many fun things could have happened.
Merry Christmas man now you can rest thanks for getting us through the busiest time of the year!
Jeez I completely forgot about this yugioh arc 😭 glad you’re making videos on it really enjoying the content
Best Christmas present ever, thanks Jordan!
Ah, the season of DRAW MONSTAH CADO!
Love your videos man.
Hope you continue yugioh series and even into gx, 5ds, vrains, etc
IT’S THE SQUEAL OF ORICHALCOS!
Maaaaayyyyn
Now whip out your deicks!
"Errgh, IT SHOULD'VE BEEN ME, NOT HIM, THIS ISNT FAIR"
I rewatch the series all the time so i Thank you for this
I was mindlessly scrolling for something to watch after work, thanks bro!
My favorite season thanks
Back to back to back! You’ve out done yourself jordan!
Finally, my favorite season! Valon was so cool
Please keep putting these out fast it's so enjoyable to listen to
Thanks for part 5 as well!
It really shocks me how this was not in the manga. I have a feel the creator helped out with this arc. This one if my favorite stories as I feel the steaks were real in this.
Why are spoiling us with so many good videos? Is this what they call a Christmas miracle?
Even in the dub it gave me chills when Yami and the Egyptian Gods chased the Great Leviathan into the sky. The Gods emerging from the clouds and Yami appearing and challenging Dartz with "Your move".
Your a king for these ty!.
While this filler season is okay. This at least for me marks the beginning of the tragedy that is "season" 5 of the original anime. That being said the "draw monster cardo" is a moment that stands toe to toe with any anime meme moment. I will absolutely die on this hill.
42:08: LoL. Sure bud. Its not like they'll have 2 filler arcs back to back after a filler season.
the abridged version of this arc is gold and very respectful to the actual lore
Omg yes im so happy that this is back to back
Love the content man. Will you do a GX overview as well?
This season was great. I loved the darkness this season brought.
love ur videos, just sub and merry christmas and Happy new year
17:30
In the original version, Joey Punched Yami right in the face to get a grip, very powerful. 😅
16:59….ahhhhhh all the memes that come from that scene alone haha
The day yugi lost to Raphael I finally understood why character development is so vital to a good story.
Brooooo yasss.
I for sure missed out on the last season & this certainly makes me happy to know what happened w out watching the eps, which I would love to but recently had a daughter😅.
Hopefully I'll get to rewatch t w her in the future😊
this whole filler arc is probs the best fillers in any series
Hey Jordan! Merry Christmas! Thanks for making this series happen. Can you also cover gx if possible? I really hate how they stopped the dub midway through....
3 videos in a row!?
Damn! Now this is passion.
This season looked nuts. Yugi still is wearing his school uniform and they were in Florida of all places.
