We haven't been back there since this ride, but I've been thinking a lot about it in light of the fires there. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by the horrible blaze.
Nice ride. 70 pounds of stuff seems like a lot between the two of you, especially for an overnight trip. Was that just testing out the new setup? Or did you find that you could have done without a lot of stuff that you initially packed?
Yeah, good call out. This was our first touring trip and we went into it as a precursor to a planned trip down the Oregon Coast. So yeah, we had more than we needed for an overnight trip. We've since acquired some lighter gear and found things we don't need. It's all a balance between comfort and weight, which is a game I think we all constantly play.
I don't know, it would depend on where you stay the night. As of today it looked like the campground at Leo Carrillo SP (where we stayed) is closed. It would also depend on whether or not any of the beach boardwalks are closed.
@@adventurebycycle7937 Darn, that is what I was worried about. Would love to find some tips on cycling while also being socially responsible during this strange time.

If I may ask were you parked your car in Santa Barbara? And were there any problems leaving it there?
Isn't Carpinteria just the best?
It's not to shabby. :)
