Oh my god, this video was heaven sent, Ive been planning on doing a LA to SF ride and I was planning on leaving in 3 weeks, well I live in SF so I guess I am doing this a lot sooner 😂😂 I’ll be in touch
@@LockedinCycling well, my initial plan was to take a train to LA and come up alone 😂 since yall leaving from sf in a group I think thats a much better idea, my family will also be glad I have company. I havent been on social media but I started following you on strava, will connect on Instagram later
@@thiagovilarinho937 hey, if you are still interested in doing sf to la, I will be heading down by way of SF, on wither friday, 3/27 or Sat, 3/28. Let me know if you care to partner up for all or part of the ride.
Will be an awesome and very hard ride. If you start like 5 miles north you can check out some of the best riding on the planet and an amazing view from hawk hill :) I live in SF and will keep an eye out for you lol.
Wow my first day I did 65 miles, I wasn’t really prepared with mileage because of a rainy month of May. The only thing I had going was a 17 mile daily commute round trip. My first day was to Pigeon Point lighthouse hostel south of Pescadero on Hwy 1. I think there’s only 1 hotel in Davenport (Davenport Roadhouse and Inn)? You guys are not that far from Santa Cruz but I understand you want to over extend muscles. I’ll see if I can join you for day 2 in Santa Cruz.
If anyone is interested in joining me, I am planning on doing the SF to LA (possibly SD) leaving 3/28/21 from HMB. I would definitely enjoy the company.
@Thomas Palacios I'm also looking to ride from SF to LA or SD this year (I was supposed to do Aids LifeCycle last year but it got canceled). I haven't finalized dates yet though. I'd be interested in chatting to see if our plans might overlap! Let me know if you want to connect to chat.
I’m planning on doing this trip on 3/28 along the 1. I am really looking forward to your post ride video. Also, Is there a particular reason why you opted not to stick mainly to the 1 highway?
He mentioned at the beginning that there were some discrepancies or some unknown in big sur. I know there was a section of 1 that collapsed and was closed for a while, maybe a whole year or so
Would you say the ride was mostly downhill? I was thinking of doing a reverse of this route and go from LA to SF but if the climb is hectic, I’d consider this exact route
Search in YT for “cycling west coast america” many bikers do it every year. Did Eugene, Or-Monterey,Ca, myself back in 1986. Just make sure your gearing is low enough, for the rest don’t plan to much, just ride and enjoy.🚴♂️
Cycling tips had a story on how it’s safe to ride in groups without maskIng up. All the pro UCI races don’t require mask during the races. But it’s your ride and sub group and you do you. I will continue to sub. and buy your linked stuff. You are one of the handful of cycling RUclipsrs that really enjoy and rewatch your stuff. Keep up the great work. Praying that you get more subs so your money problems will not be a thing. I hate to hear your struggles. I want you to focus on your channel, not worrying about bills. Cheers

CHeck out my route video you could just do it in reverse basically

Good luck. I will be following along!
I'm nowhere near you but I like how well planned out this is. Makes me want to do some multi day trips in my neck of the woods
That’s the point haha
That sounds like an amazing ride. I hope you're leaving yourself some room to get lost (the good kind). Good luck and have fun!
Yea we have a spare day just in case 🤣
That's proper. Nice route and I'm sure an amazing adventure. I can't wait to see the content!

I live down in San Jose, I might be able to follow from half moon bay to Monterey
That be awesome!
You have to go to Splash in SLO, I will buy you lunch or dinner if you do!

Fingers crossed you’re not facing a massive headwind during all those miles on the coast. I usually try to avoid PCH tbh
Yea we’ll have to see , I’ve heard this route skips the worst of the wind when we’re inland .
But the winds usually blow north to south, which is the direction the route goes?
I'm located in the Bay Area, I'd definitely be interested in getting things kicked off from Golden Gate to Half Moon Bay
Awesome ! Follow me on Instagram I’ll post to my story for roll out time the morning of
I think I saw 2 kids do this on fixed gear in less than a week from TJ to San Francisco
@@docouchi7929 that’s crazy

That’s awesome and yea that inn is the plan for Davenport
Lompoc is sketchy, I rode through there and stayed there last time I did a CA coast bike tour. But if you're staying in a hotel, you should be fine.
Thanks yea we may stay in marina instead
Baby wipes. Bring baby wipes.
It’s on the list!
My wife has done the Aids ride; another tip-plastic hair net for the saddle overnight. Keeps the dew/condensation off, and takes no space!
@@precitacj amazing tip! If we camp and do a route like this I’ll totally use that hack
Rumor said massive catering waiting in the last day paid by Michael! ....everybody...'for he's a jolly good fellow"!
Haha if my 10 cents from RUclips covers everyone then sure 😂
Come on you tube, throw Michael a bone! Or a few tubes and sealant. ..his going to need it! 😂.
Good luck in the trip, sounds like a lot of fun.
@@C.Medina hahaha I appreciate it and will need it!
Totally jealous

Hi Thomas, did you end up doing it?
did I hear you say documentary?? 😮
ThAts a loose term haha
day 8 - those corners on Mulholland are quite challenging and road condition there kinda sucks. So be careful lol
Good luck 👍🏽
Thanks for the heads up!
Would you say the ride was mostly downhill? I was thinking of doing a reverse of this route and go from LA to SF but if the climb is hectic, I’d consider this exact route
DO this route, its way less headwind alone this direction, Im not sure about climbing wise but, everyone says do it this direction
@@LockedinCycling Awesome, thanks for the heads up! By the way, did most of the route have dedicated bike paths or was it a lot of highway riding?
@@nicklopez9334check out my full series on it, it’ll give you the best idea it was mixed bag
Has any Randonneur/long distance rider written/done a video about doing SF - LA in one go? Can't find anything

Is it not smart to bike along the coast?
You can just route wasn’t possible cause part of the route was destroyed at the time
@@LockedinCycling I think it’s repaired now though. My friend and I are going from Santa Barbara to SF in 7 days and we will probably follow highway 1
@@archiepowell3522 good luck! It’s just a lot more headwind that direction haha
@@LockedinCycling I didn’t know that…we are only planning on 55 miles per day so not too ambitious I don’t think
@@archiepowell3522 yea winds a lot worse other direction that’s why we did sf to la
I think there is BLM land in Salinas that you could camp on for free.
