That’s awesome! It really is a killer combination isn’t it. And for gimbal work... wooo! I wish I had my gimbal out when I was making this video now. I would have loved to show that setup too.
Oh yes, i didn't know you have a gimbal ! I speak only for myself, but i believe in handeld, haha. I really like the way it feels in the video ( of course if you not shake as a sick guy, but if you know how to be steady enough, and with the stabilization in the a6500, it's just perfect for my kind of cinematic vlog style videos..) After my two last video speaking in front of a table inside my flat, i've realized that this is not what i like to do.. Haha yes I have the zhiyun crane v2 although it rarely gets used! I really only try to pull it out if I have a specific purpose for it. Other than that, I’m with you! No problem! Thanks for watching! Do you have lens corrections turned on in camera? That should fix your distortion before you ever get to premiere. And as for my coloring I actually just released a lightroom preset pack! You can snag it for $5 until the end of July using the promo code CHEAPPRESETS at dunnadidit.com/store I put out a video going through how to use the presets and I’m going to be doing more on my lightroom editing later too!
Hi! Thanks for the video. You mentioned the lense paired with the a6400 (or other models with no IBIS) should not cause any issues when taking photos. Can you still confirm it after more than a year? What would be the closest alternative to The Sigma 16mm but with lense stabilization?
I use this lens with my a6400 all the time. I also use it for video as long as I’m careful or have it on a tripod. I haven’t been able to find anything similar with OSS except for zoom lenses.
Without IBIS you may just need to use a slightly shorter shutter speed. With 1/60s you should manage always, by being careful and talking several shots if needed you should manage up to 1/15 s or even longer. Also remember that if the subject is moving IS is useless on short focal lengths as you need to use short shutter speed anyway.
Does this camera of sigma 16 have WiFi for sending pictures from camera to the phone? Because I wanted to know how to send photos from sigma to iPhone without using cables or laptop is there any ways Thank you
I'm getting the a6400 and a DJI Ronin SC Gimbal to shoot my dance videos with dancers of about 5 people and I will be looking to film some models as well. Will this do me justice with what I wanna do. I will be going back and forth with my videos. This shouldn't be too heavy for the gimbal right In UK it's going for £342 at the cheapest and the camera is £799 any tips you can give me. I've never owned a camera before
A lot of people's only con about this lens is the weight but man, I have to say, just like you, I like the weight. Definitely feels like you have a tough, great built, quality lens in your hands. I feel like a light weight lens would make it feel kinda cheap
Just ordered this lens. Honestly I didn't see much of a difference on the stabilization from off to on. If there was any it wasn't a noticeable difference. Mine will be mounted on my a6300 tripod for video so thank you for this review. Much help and great video.

You will have to use it in crop mode, meaning that you will lose megapixels and it will be like a 24mm field of view. But I’ve heard people say the results are still good.
Hey Dunna, you are awesome bro! ❤️ I was still deciding if I need the lens or not. But since you have recommended it several times I trust you because the end results look good. I using the a6400 and this will be great addition to my lenses. Keep up the good work, thank you! 😊 👍
I was recently in Japan and thought about buying this lense, but I mostly use my fullframe A7 III and i have a zeiss 16-35, so i allready have this focal length covered, because of that i forgot about this lens pretty quickly. I have a a6300 as a secondary camera and after i saw this video i kind of regret not buing one especially since it is almost 100€ cheaper in Japan (so it just costs 300€ there). At the same time, i think, that i am more interested in a fast prime with this focal length not this lens especially , so i might save up some cash and eventually buy a 24mm 1.4 or similar for my a7. (i bought an 50mm 1.1 instead for 250€ wich is a killer deal as well)
Nice! I totally understand the back and forth on decisions like that! There will always be deals and stuff if you decide to change your mind and get it though!
Sir, for landscape photography which one should be preferred Sigma 16 or Sigma 30 as I am very much confused. Don't want to waste the brilliance in order to save a few bucks.
Thanks so much Steeve! Greetings from Canada! Yeah, you definitely have some things to keep in mind but I’ve really liked all the portraits that I’ve taken with this lens!
Great review! I'm about to buy it for my a6000. I mainly do car show pics, toy pics and vacation pics( landscapes, scenery). I have the sony 50mm so I can switch to that if I feel I need a close up.
Oh man! That is such a tough question. I need more details. What are you shooting? Photo/video. Is it just personal use or client work? Gimme the details and I’ll help you out!
Dunna Did It wow that's kind of you. Im a newbie to all this although been researching for the last 6 months and want to pull the trigger now, I don't think I can hold out to the a6700. It's mainly going to be for video lthough I do want to get into still portraits, it's just that to my eye there is not much difference in quality . I'll be shooting golf courses and perhaps some music videos for friends with the view of charging money as and when I get better and maybe some wedding vids. I have about 2400 uk pounds , a6500 body is on offer at the mo for 1000, I could get maybe 3 half decent lenses. Do I get the a6500 and if I start to make some money out of it keep it as a b roll camera? Or just jump into the a7iii and be more future proof.,Many thank
To be honest, I would say go with the a6500 and a few decent lenses. It’s tried and tested and people generally love it. I’ve shot music videos on my Sony a6000 and they turned out great and made me enough money to buy the a6500 so you can definitely do the same from the a6500 to the a7iii. I’ve been eyeing up the a7iii as well, but the a6500 is still just so good that it’s hard to not suggest it for the price and what you get for it. It’s definitely a tough call to make but I’ve heard enough people say that the glass is more important than the camera to push in that direction for sure. Hopefully that’s helpful!
Maybe I'm being dumb here, but how do you vlog without a screen that can rotate your way? Do you just kind of know what will be in frame? Do you put that HDMI monitor on top of your camera and rotate it your way?
I’ve never used a monitor to vlog. Generally I can see where the camera is pointed and you get used to knowing what’s in frame. Pros - - you don’t get that annoying thing where the vlogger is looking at the monitor instead of the lens and it looks like they’re looking past you. - you really learn how to set up your camera cause you’re running blind Cons- - if you want to frame anything else specifically in the shot, it’s tough. - every once in a while your exposure will be off and you’ll have to shoot that shot again. - if you have a zoom lens, sometimes you forget you were just zoomed in and the shot is just your nose lol. Honestly I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years now and it’s never really been a big deal that I didn’t have a monitor. I think it’s one of those things that probably adds to convenience and makes it a bit easier but is totally workable without.
Hello Dunna :) I was planning for the Sony 10-18mm f4, Is this Sigma 16mm f1.4 worth buying over the above Sony lens? Or should I go for Sony if I can?
Dunna Did It Thank you for replying. I was planning to enter Astro photography, and night scenes. Plus I also wanted to do wide angle sharp landscapes. I already have 18-105 and wanted something wider than that.
For Astro, the 16mm would be great, you want to have a nice wide aperture so you can keep your iso down. :) I think I would go that way based on what you’re saying :)
Absolutely! I have a few videos out on this topic! But I’m definitely planning on doing more and updating! Check these out 1. Dunna you did it, the whole episode is Dope, the sound is on another level. I'm looking at the Canon side of cameras, can you do something on that? The T6i.
Hey Obie! Thanks so much! Little fun fact! I recorded all of the audio on this video with a lab mic taped inside my shirt, recording into an app on my phone! I think I’ll make a video about it! I don’t know a lot of the selections for the canon side of things but I know the sigma 18-35 is one of the most popular lenses of all time and it’s made for canon mount! Definitely check that one out!
Very informative video. Thank you! I have a quick question. I am planning to start my RUclips cooking show. Between the two options of sigma 30 mm f1.4 and sigma 16mm f1.4 which one do you suggest for a-roll and which one for B-roll. Also if I only buy one of them which one do you suggest. Filming is done in my kitchen. Thank you,
Proud owner of this lens! Amazing lens. I do almost everything w it. Vlogging, landscape, timelapses, astrophotography, potraits. Talk about 1 lens for all.
Yeah it could totally work for that, I think that has more to do with understanding shutter speeds than anything. But it would be wide enough to get a whole car in!
Thanks! It’s always fun to watch your review. I own Sony 35mm f1.8 and Rokinon 12mm f2.0 and 16-50mm kit lens on my 6500. I’m happy with both prime lenses, but wish I knew Sigma 16mm f1.4 earlier. Should I add this to my package?
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. This sounds like it would be a great addition to your kit. It’s more different from the 12mm than it sounds. This is more of a standard wide where the 12 is an “ultra wide”
Any kind of in body or in lens stabilization will never be as smooth as a gimbal, I use this lens on my a6500 and love that I can go handheld with the Ibis but I still use it on a gimbal sometimes when I want that type of look. Also, I really don't like having to carry around my gimbal all the time and it can be a hassle to set up and stuff so having the Ibis helps me get more reasonably smooth handheld shots. So in the end I would suggest the a6500 but don't expect to get gimbal looking shots without using a gimbal.
This lens is the one next on my list. I’ve been buying vintage lenses for my 6500 but I need a wide angle lens with nice aperture since I do a lot of low light. Thanks for video, it really helped and btw great photo edits.
Great video man, really appreciate the real-life test scenarios. Just getting into this stuff but primarily doing architecture and wide cityscape views, so I'll definitely be considering this one.
Which lense should I get for both video and photography? Sigma 16mm 1.4 or sigma 24mm 1.4 for sony aps-c. Later on I'm probably going to upgrade to a FF camera tho.
Thats a tough one. On apsc I would use the 16mm more but if you're going to upgrade later then you might want to start thinking about FF glass. Thats a tough one but it seems like you understand the predicament though so its just about pondering a bit and I'm sure you'll make a great decision!
For the NON-IBIS people, get a 300 bucks gimbal (theres a "somthing A1000" out there that would do a good job). Will beat any IBIS on any sony camera out there.
Yeah, depending on what you’re shooting a gimbal would be perfect for this lens! It makes a huge difference! It doesn’t make sense in every situation but it is definitely way more smooth than ibis or oss.
Great Video! I am debating on this lens or the Sony 18-105mm (Sony a6000) for my trip to Oaxaca. Lots of cool architecture and landscapes. Any thoughts?
Bryan Partipilo you wont do a mistake if you take the 18-105. You are very flexible with this one. For a Trip i wouldnt choose a wide angle over a zoom
I have been on vacation traveling for 2.5 weeks now and the 18-105 has barely come off my camera, it’s just so perfect for travel where you need to quickly change for certain situations. Especially if you’re traveling with someone who might not want to wait for you to change lenses all the time hah
I was eyeing the 30 & 56, never saw the point of the 16 for some reason. Until I saw your video. Now I understand why Sigma sells for so cheap, because the get free marketing from enthusiasts such as yourself who literally do most of their work for them. Infact, they ought to sponsor you or maybe let u test out their unreleased products, to give comprehensive feedback.
Haha of sigma wants to sponsor a video I probably would say yes... it just wouldn’t be a review video of one of their lenses because that’s a little sketchy haha
*What is your favorite lens? WHY?* 🧐

Yeah it definitely doesn't take out the big shakes from walking like a gimbal might. Little handheld jitters are definitely where IBIS helps.

I speak only for myself, but i believe in handeld, haha. I really like the way it feels in the video ( of course if you not shake as a sick guy, but if you know how to be steady enough, and with the stabilization in the a6500, it's just perfect for my kind of cinematic vlog style videos..)
After my two last video speaking in front of a table inside my flat, i've realized that this is not what i like to do..
So, i guess everyone has his/her own way to tell stories, mine is outside with my camera in my hand, haha ! See you soon Man ! keep working on your vidéos, they are really great to watch !
Haha yes I have the zhiyun crane v2 although it rarely gets used! I really only try to pull it out if I have a specific purpose for it. Other than that, I’m with you! Ibis in the a6500 and a few little hacks to keep things smooth. And I’m good to go! I totally get what you mean about the sit down videos. I think I enjoy doing both! Sometimes I don’t want the trouble of running around and it’s nice to just talk in one place. But sometimes it’s nice to adventure a bit!Cheers man! Thanks for the chat! I’ll see you in the next one!
Yeah, definitly, every Monday !
How does it perform in photos in daylight when compared to Sony 18-105 f/4 lens? Sharpness? Quality?
It’s way sharper than the 18-105 for sure.
Good review! I have a a6000 and looking to get my first lens and I think I am convinced!
Nice! I hope you love it! There’s an affiliate link in the description if you feel like supporting the channel when you’re ready to pick it up 😁
thank you for the vid! I use 16 1.4 alot now! How can I fix the distortion of it in Premiere Pro? And how do you color your pictures so sweet? ))
Freya - thank you so much! I’m definitely working on a LUT pack, but I am not quite ready with it yet! Keep an eye out though, it’s coming!
Lets make a alpha 6400 review and suggest us best lens for this camera!
It’s definitely on my list if I can get ahold of one.
you are the reason why i baught the sony g 18-105 f4 and i love it. Hopefully this lens too. i should get it on Tuesday.
Nice!!
If you watch your shutter speed hand held it's like any other lens on the planet (no problem). It's even less of a problem because it's so wide.
I have A6500. which is best in more portrait, less landscape photography and some stage performance kids video recording.
sigma 30mm or 16 mm.
30 would probably be better for portraits

He has the same coffee grinder as me, it's a good one :D
@@dunnadidit you also rock the same style, with the hat and that particular beard.....man!

@@dunnadidit hahaha LMAO really?
This same exact lens is compatible with the M50 right? Not like a different model or whatever?
I believe so! They created that version after I had made this video!
The Canon version has a mount for Canon. Otherwise it is identical. That is you need to buy a lens specifically or Canon EF-M.
Did The Studio Dunnas create the music for this video?
If so, were they fairly (or preferably generously) compensated for their work?
Unfortunately the studio Dunna’s were all booked up on this one! But when I hire them, they’re definitely well taken care of!
Is there an AF adapter that allows me to use this on a EOS-M such as Canon M50?
I believe they just made an EF-M mount version so you don’t need an adapter at all!

@@dunnadidit Great thanks!
No worries!
Hi, love you edits. Unfortunately I only have an iPad Pro... What could I use to edit maybe?
Lightroom mobile!
Does this camera of sigma 16 have WiFi for sending pictures from camera to the phone?
Because I wanted to know how to send photos from sigma to iPhone without using cables or laptop is there any ways
Thank you
We've seen this lens in action in the studio... Its AWESOME!
It’s my favorite lens in the studio!!
I'm getting the a6400 and a DJI Ronin SC Gimbal to shoot my dance videos with dancers of about 5 people and I will be looking to film some models as well. Will this do me justice with what I wanna do. I will be going back and forth with my videos. This shouldn't be too heavy for the gimbal right
In UK it's going for £342 at the cheapest and the camera is £799 any tips you can give me. I've never owned a camera before
I think it sounds like you’re on the right track!
Those edited photos are so satisfying!
Haha thank you! I love watching them become edited. It’s like peeling off the protective plastic on new electronics!
A lot of people's only con about this lens is the weight but man, I have to say, just like you, I like the weight. Definitely feels like you have a tough, great built, quality lens in your hands. I feel like a light weight lens would make it feel kinda cheap
4:03 When the GF shows up and your talking about your wife.
Hello! I'm trying to decide between the sigma 16mm 1,4 and the Sony 35 1,8, mainly for portraits and travel photography. What would you suggest?
Probably the 35 if you’re planning for portraits
I love how you reply 2 everyone so much :)
Thanks so much for saying that! I means a lot that you noticed! I always appreciate when creators reply so I try to reply as much as possible!
Yo man, watched a lot of reviews about this lens on RUclips, found your video the most convincing review for me. Thanks a lot.
Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
This video has sold me on this lens. I'm ordering it tomorrow
Nice!!
Just ordered this lens. Honestly I didn't see much of a difference on the stabilization from off to on. If there was any it wasn't a noticeable difference. Mine will be mounted on my a6300 tripod for video so thank you for this review. Much help and great video.
You think this is the best lens for travel , which includes - food , street , portrait , landscape photography ?
My main lens for travel that includes all of that is the 18-105 f4
@@dunnadidit Ive got the Sony 18-135 but would this lens be worth getting as i also shoot everything mentioned above? lens looks amazing just dont know if i need it along side the 18-135!!
P.S.. Awesome vid dude
@@karlsibbald2386 would also love to know this, as I have the 18-135mm too!
I would say one or the other is great! If you’re mostly doing photography, the 18-135 might actually be the better option. I love the constant f4 but it’s he extra reach would be cool too.
which lens is the best for Sony A6400 for videography??? Please ans.
Damnnn son, I have to say this is one of the most descriptive videos out there. Straight to the point, great examples and explanations. So good I’m tripping out hhaha subscribed!
Haha 😂 thanks Jaren! I’m glad my video had such an impact on you lol! Thanks for the support!
Hi Dunna, if you only have to choose 1 between Sigma 16mm 1.4 and Sony 10-18mm f4, which would you choose?
Sigma
i just got my panasonic g7 with its kit lens and its 25mm f/ 1.7
Ooh sick! How you like it?
Just picked one of these up for myself! I've had success using the lens for video on my a6300 despite the lack of stabilization.
Nice! Thanks for sharing! Hopefully that’s good confirmation for people looking into it!
Does this have a focus button on it?? Thanks
There are no buttons on this lens.
i have shot a RIDICULOUS amount of videos with that lens on my a7iii... I filmed a lot with it in the Philippines as well! I love it!
That’s awesome! How do you find it in crop mode?
@@dunnadidit I have no problems what so ever... I manuuueeeeever wit this joint. It's a very good all around lens for me. I just did some stuff with Bizzy Bone in Florida last Wednesday and Only used this lens.
I agree, this is THE lens. I also own one and no regrets whatsoever.
We got the Paul approval! WOOO!
Just got into vloggin (you can see footage on my channel with this lens) and was torn between this and the sony 10-18mm for my a6000. Got both and just kept grabbing the 16mm simply due to its insane bokeh and sharpness. Also the low light performance is just unbelievable...like its AMAZING.
I love this lens so much and I now realize why so many people are raving about.
That’s awesome! Someone was just asking about making the choice between those two lenses! Glad to know that even with the 10-18 on hand, you still like the 16mm! Thanks for sharing!!
Hunter Pauley how’s the stabilization with the a6000 for video? Is it too shaky?
LT not terrible but definitely noticeable...I usually stable in post production in Final Cut Pro within limitations obviously
I watched many reviews on this lens. This was the best one!
Thank you so much Charleen! I really appreciate that!!
Would you go with the sigma 16mm f1.4 or with the Sony 35mm f1.8? Main use is fotogrophy
I think the 16mm, I’ve heard good things about the 35 but I personally get more use out of the 16mm focal length on the crop sensor.
Subbed... Do you have any videos of your editing techniques? Your edited images looked on point 🔥🤙🏽
Thanks so much! I have a few lightroom tutorials but I’m planning on doing more! Here’s one that is a general overview of my lightroom process(a few months ago... needs updating lol) ruclips.net/video/Ar4BhGxxo8c/видео.html
Is this lens good for full frame cam? I am using sony 7ii. Trying to find a wide lens
You will have to use it in crop mode, meaning that you will lose megapixels and it will be like a 24mm field of view. But I’ve heard people say the results are still good.
Friend, does this lens make load noise while focusing AF?
Not too loud nope!
This is a perfect review! Mixed with the questions people asked it answered every question I had!
Hey Dunna, you are awesome bro! ❤️ I was still deciding if I need the lens or not. But since you have recommended it several times I trust you because the end results look good. I using the a6400 and this will be great addition to my lenses. Keep up the good work, thank you! 😊 👍
Nice! I’m sure you’ll love it!
My kind of photography is Landscape, Astrophotography and street photography, anybody knows if this is a good choice or maybe the Rokinon 12mm.
You'll be great with either one!
That being said, for me, 12mm would be a bit wide for street photography, I usually prefer my 30mm for street
Yet again amazing video. Watching from france. Keep it up man! I'm glad someone is also using it for "portrait" pics :)
That’s awesome! I have the 50 too and they are very complimentary!
Man I’m confused, do I get a a6500 with a couple of good lenses or a7iii with kit lens?
Dunna Did It thanks, I will checkout your go to lenses vid.
Awesome! Let me know if you have any more questions!
Pros -
- you don’t get that annoying thing where the vlogger is looking at the monitor instead of the lens and it looks like they’re looking past you.
- you really learn how to set up your camera cause you’re running blind
Cons-
- if you want to frame anything else specifically in the shot, it’s tough.
Just got this lens and I love it! Thank you for the video
Awesome! No problem! Hopefully you agree with what I said!
At 3:13 I think you got the edited vs unedited labels reversed?
Either that or I made the photo a lot more boring by editing it 😂😂😂
Indeed. Quite impressive :P
Lol 😂
Hello Dunna :) I was planning for the Sony 10-18mm f4,
Is this Sigma 16mm f1.4 worth buying over the above Sony lens?
Or should I go for Sony if I can?
I love my 16mm f1.4 but it all depends on what you need! Do you think you need it to go all the way to 10mm? And do you shoot in low light often?
Dunna Did It
Thank you for replying.
Dunna Did It
Thank you very much. That helps a lot. I will go for this 16mm Sigma. :)
That’s awesome! If you are going to buy online and want to support the channel, feel free to use the amazon link in the description 😁

My pleasure Ebrahim! Hopefully those other vids help out until I can make some more!!
Thank you,
I'd say A-roll - 16mm... B-Roll 30mm... and if you could only get one I'd go 16mm. Hope that helps!
Proud owner of this lens! Amazing lens. I do almost everything w it. Vlogging, landscape, timelapses, astrophotography, potraits. Talk about 1 lens for all.
Nice! It really is great isn’t it!
O man that's good to hear. What about rolling shots of cars?
Dunna Did It oh thank you for your quick response. That’s helpful. Looking forward to more of your reviews. Keep up the good work.
My pleasure!!
Hey man, new to your channel. Great editing and color grading!
Thanks so much Eddie! I’m glad you enjoy it!
Need a buying advise. Should I pair this lens with a6500, or a6300 plus gimbal for video shooting? Is a65000 Ibis sufficient to replace gimbal?
Any kind of in body or in lens stabilization will never be as smooth as a gimbal, I use this lens on my a6500 and love that I can go handheld with the Ibis but I still use it on a gimbal sometimes when I want that type of look. Also, I really don't like having to carry around my gimbal all the time and it can be a hassle to set up and stuff so having the Ibis helps me get more reasonably smooth handheld shots. So in the end I would suggest the a6500 but don't expect to get gimbal looking shots without using a gimbal.
@@dunnadidit thanks a lot for your quick response.
Seriously it's true to avoid the hassle by just go without setting up gimbal... Thank you
My pleasure!!
This lens is the one next on my list. I’ve been buying vintage lenses for my 6500 but I need a wide angle lens with nice aperture since I do a lot of low light. Thanks for video, it really helped and btw great photo edits.
It’s definitely a great choice! Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
I have just purchased this lens for my Sony a6000 . What should be the next upgrade for an armature photographer like me.
Great video man, really appreciate the real-life test scenarios. Just getting into this stuff but primarily doing architecture and wide cityscape views, so I'll definitely be considering this one.
Thanks so much! Glad the video was helpful for you.
Great video man! Love my 35 ART on my A7iii!
Wait!! How did you get either of those so fast! Didn’t they both just come out!?
How does the sharpness of the 18-105 at 18mm compares to the sigma? F4-f11?
The 16mm is sharper for sure!
Fast aperture for low light and shallow depth-of-field, autofocus like it is native, all for a price within reach.. Yeah it is too good and it's true.
Haha exactly!! You can’t make this stuff up!!
