    Offensive Ability does not work for Bows so ignore my belabored explanation about Finesse for this build if you're using a bow. I was explaining something I learned earlier in the day about Finesse but apparently was too dumb to realize this wasn't the best context for that explanation -- hence this correction!

      I noticed that too, It's funny that the skill icon is an arrow hitting a target, but it doesnt work with bows lol.

      Should points still be allocated into Finesse or no? love the guides btw, followed the conquered build now giving this a go to see what I prefer.

    Hey Almar. Thanks for the build guide and all the other TQ content you've put out over time. I've especially used your quest walkthroughs on your website when I first started playing the game a couple of weeks ago.
    There are a couple of misconceptions in this video though:
    1. Offensive Ability does nothing for ranged characters. Ranged attacks (Bows, Throwing Weapons and Staves) cannot miss with their attacks. The trade off being that they cannot crit either. Offensive Ability is primarily a melee physical stat, as that is the only damage type in this game that can crit.
    2. The percent increased pierce ratio on the Philip's items don't stack additively with the pierce ratio on your weapon. Percent increases to pierce ratio multiply the pierce ratio on your weapon. So the 28% on the chest + 24% on the legs give you a total of 52% increased pierce ratio, which then multiplies the pierce ratio on your weapon. So 25% pierce ratio on Bladestring becomes 38% pierce ratio instead.
    3. This isn't a misconception, but rather a small pet peeve of mine. Referring to percent damage increases as "flat damage increases" irks me a little. Flat damage is a static amount of damage that's added onto your attack, like the 20 pierce damage on the Philip's Legacy 2 piece bonus. Percent damage increases, like the ones on Tracker's Hood and Apollo's Will, are multipliers for your flat damage (although the mechanics behind which sources of flat damage get multiplied are a little confusing to me).
    You gave a shout out to Clex Plays a couple of videos ago. His videos on defenses and offenses were very good in explaining both of these mechanics.
    All that being said, thanks again for your content. I will always check out your videos for inspiration on new builds :)

      I said Offensive Ability did something for ranged characters? Huh, that's weird. You're right though it doesn't, it's exclusively for melee. Dunno why I said it worked for bows
      Also I am curious where you read about Pierce Ratio as this would be news to me

    • @AlmarWinfield
      @AlmarWinfield  2 года назад

      Ahhh I see, my explanation of Finesse and why it wasn't as good of an ability as it appears to be implied that Offensive Ability worked for Ranged characters. I should have explicitly said during that it didn't work for Ranged characters; In my mind I was explaining why the ability was less powerful than it appeared and I using my OA as part of my example.
      I just learned about Finesse not being as good as I thought so I wanted to talk about it and I try to give generalized advice that is applicable to as many people as possible which is why I went into the indepth explanation about Finesse -- but it's kind of dumb for me to do that on a build guide specialized for bows.

    • @GETTODACHOPPAH
      @GETTODACHOPPAH 2 года назад +1

      @@AlmarWinfield My apologies. You didn't explicitly state that OA helped your damage, but as you explained in another comment, your explaination of it could be misconstrued as such in a build relating specifically to bow attacks.
      As for the Pierce Ratio I got the information from Clex' video on Offenses in TQ, in which he explains that increases to pierce ratio are multiplicative with the base, not cumulative. Another source is a video from IceFreeze, in which he uses the Skeleton Darts M.I. throwing weapon, which has a 50% base Pierce Ratio, and combines it with Philip's Chest (30% increased Pierce Ratio) and Blade Honing level 8 (72% increased Pierce Ratio) to obtain 100% Pierce Ratio on his weapon.

  • @VnikXum
    @VnikXum Год назад

    As far as I know, the pierсe ratio is added multiplicatively, not additively. Thus, if the weapon has 25% and the conversion is 50%, for example, then the total will not be 75%, but only 25+25*0.5=37.5%.
