We take time out to have another look at IL-2 Great Battles. Following the career in RAF No.3 Sq ending I have received many suggestions. I plan to do several one-off missions in different aircraft and then put which we should start a career with to the vote.
Today we take up the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt as we head out to attack shipping in Port.

Action takes place on a 358 х 230 km map - The largest and most detailed recreation of the Battle of Stalingrad theatre ever modeled in a flight simulation with unique structures, buildings and landscapes.
Single-Player Campaign scenario follows the real chronology of the battle starting with Operation Uranus on November 19th, 1942 and continues to the complete liberation of the city on February 2nd, 1943.
Ten Legendary aircraft of the era have been thoroughly re-created using original drawings and blueprints from the Central archive of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

WHOA! The moment I saw Asch, I thought Bodenplatte. But this is actually two months AFTER Bodenplatte, so the Luftwaffles are pretty much useless by this time. If that IS Asch (Y-29) ingame, the devs really screwed it up. It had only one runway, and that was sod (grass).
4:10 - HOLY SH*T! That was a PERFECT drop. A bomb on the deck might start fires and such, and may even penetrate to lower decks, but one THAT close will cave in the hull below the waterline. That ship is a GONER!
8:19 - Guess where they keep the ammunition! Go ahead...GUESS!
13:28 - What was that again...the "Lightning?" That WAS a hard landing, if it rattled your brain THAT much! 😁

Very good plane with a very big aray of the type's of missions it can do. Fighter, escort, ground strike,...

P47 and Tempest... two planes most feared by German ground forces after D-Day...
I enjoy your videos, but I have to say, as a ground-attacker, you're a pretty good dogfighter. :)
Taff in Exile I love the videos. Have since I found your channel. I was discussing your IL2 videos with a friend from work who used to be a small aircraft pilot, and he says after watching a few of your landings, that you always come in way too fast. That is why you almost always bounce. Slow it down more and you'll land just fine, according to him. :)

Actually the Heinkel was very cool and the P-47, the 'flying tank', what's not to like?
But Sirrah, the hat that once 'was doffed in your general direction' is now firmly in place atop my noggin; you must address this obsession with yankee 'aluminum' , they can't even say it right! Return sir, to modern aircraft of laminate wooden construction, with Merlin Engines and .50 cal browning's galore!
The ground-crew; shall rebel, many hisses and boo's shalt follow, yea, your tires shall be over-inflated, lead weights shall thou be granted (in one wing only) and the canopy, sir, shalt be scratch'd at the 10 and noon positions!
Even worse, terrible lampoons will ensue....... no longer will a 'bloke/HERO make the traditional 'the last time I was this early' comment (such as ...the big bang was just a little...pop) no no no, it will be more like 'the last time I was this early;...Daft Taff STILL hadn't flown the MOSQUITO!

Taff, you've just flown one of my favorites, the P-47. It's gonna be a hard choice between it and the P-38.
I see some chaps still like the He-111...must be a death wish, lol!
Seriously, any watercooled engined aircraft is at a serious disadvantage when ground attack missions have to be expected in a career.
By the way, did you know that the P-38 had the highest climb rate of any other plane in the European theatre, except for the German Comet rocket plane?

This is directed towards anyone that may know. How hard is fly in this compared to War Thunder?
@teamstr259 - It would be comparable to the Simulator (full realism) mode in WT. Of course, there are differences, but it wouldn't be that different. If you can fly in one, you can fly in the other. That being said, if you turn on "Complex Engine Management" in IL-2, you add an entirely additional level of complexity, not to the flying itself, but to managing the aircraft.

I think in next year there will come out remake for the Mighty 8 (if I recall it correctly) so who known... 😉
Yeah, it's also suppose to have the B-24 and Lancaster, with walk-able interiors for the bombers and single aircraft or multicrew multiplayer

Just for curiosity’s sake, how come the last two U-Boat videos are private now?
8 50cal machine guns is a lot fire power when you concentrate it. The Jug is a stuff aircraft so push the envelope.
When will; be the next IL 2 series? I really enjoy them.
Next week video will have a summary of the last 6 videos where there will be a poll to choose the next aircraft to start a career series on. That should start in two weeks 👍

I do not think I have seen a good FW 190 campaign yet. While the ME109 series are the most iconic German aircraft of the war, the FW series was the workhorse with multiple roles given to it. Plus, it can take a hit better than most German planes so maybe you might survive longer. ;) I do like the HE111 and BF110 but your campaign may be uninterestingly short.
