Best review of the mower on RUclips. I just picked it up and mowed my first house with it today and going from a residential ztx42 to the 44 HD it was a massive jump and I’m super impressed!
I literally just purchased one. My question…I want to purchase a ROPS kit and I know they offer it for the zt hd 44 but there are no “cutouts” on the plastic fenders where they “go through” if you will. Does my mower have the proper fenders…??? Thank you for all your wonderful videos.
This is very good basic information for ZT mower. Thank you. One thing I noticed is that you say the deck is 10 gage, but the specs I see now for this mower is 7 gage. It seems that they have reduced this now.
This informative video, by far, exceeds any other video I found helping me make the best possible purchase choice for my application. Thank you👍and thank you to Greenshields Supply in Everett, WA.
You bet Joe. Glad they were able to supply you with the mower and service you deserve. We are always just up I-5 if needed, our 30 years + with Gravely helps us understand the parts and service you may need.
One thing I wish was different on this model, is the gas level sight. It is very hard to see the level as you are looking thru the plastic gas tank. Wish it had a guage or some type of better site guage. This mower is longer wheel base than the hustler 44 that I had used, so there are some areas that I can't cut as close such as corner areas. It is a beast!
Another thing to remember about Gravely, is that they don't transfer the warranty to anyone else. Only warranty the original owner. I just bought a ZT HD 44 with only 6 hours and found out about the "no transfer" rule. I've owned several brands mowers and have never had a warranty issue with any of them and always perform my own maintenance, so hopefully no major issues with this one. But it would have been nice to know it is covered in case.
Just bought mine today (June 30th 2022). Was considering the 48" HD as that's the same size as my present Snapper Pro, but I have a lot of small yards to do, that why I purchased the compact snapper pro back in 2014. This time however I decided to go with the Gravely because most of the other services in the area are using them and they come highly recommended. Yes I know this is a residential mower, but I do a lot of push mowing too, and as such believe this 44 with all its commercial components will hold up just fine for my purposes.
Part of that depends on the mower that you’re looking and comparing it to. As far as the HD, it can handle a rough lawn and if it is too rough for the operator we have many people that end up putting a suspension seat on that makes it a very comfortable ride.
First time buying a Gravely ZT HD 48". What do you recommend for cleaning grass clipping under the deck. I noticed there is no washout port. -Thank You!
Washout ports although they seem like a good idea have caused so many other problems. The Mo-Jack, a chain hoist, or car ramps work to get it into the air. We pressure wash (just make sure you avoid spindles) and then treat with an anti stick like Mo-Deck.
@@bowling8203 Hi Dan, I know it sounds crazy. I ordered the ZT HD 48 On March 2021 and just now will get delivered in 2 weeks. I will let you know as soon as I start using it 😀
I would like to see a side - By- side mowing in tall grass - with the Gravely ZT HD VS ARIENS APEX HD to see if the 800. To see if it is worth buying the Gravely . Both mowers are made in the same plant.
Love your video on the gravley zthd 44. I've been looking at the zthd or the Gravley ztxl. Can you give me help on these two. Wondering what the hd has over the xl for over a $1000. Would appreciate your help. Doug
If I have an opportunity I’ll try to shoot a video on that tomorrow and then I can send you a link. If you send me an email josh@carlsmower.com i’ll give you a quick break down
They have done research to determine where the air flow is low and high under the deck, we don't want to have the grass pushed over and not "sucked" back up. Josh
The Gravely mowers do use 5400’s on the commercial units This machine is one amazing heavy duty homeowner unit. That has the complete package. But if you’re a Kubota fan good on you.

This is a GREAT review of this machine. Best I’ve seen on RUclips. Mine came in today. Can’t wait to mow this evening!
You’re gonna love it
Have less than a few hours on mine and I can already tell it's the best zero turn I have driven
Looks like Gravelly is the Toyota of Zero Turns . Got a HD at work . It won't quit

Thoughts on a mulching kit for the ZT HD 44? Also, what about the 2022 model with 10 ga deck vs the newer model with 7 ga deck?

Best explanation on a mower I’ve seen. Wish you were in Maryland
Franchise 😉. Thanks for the compliment! I’m sure there’s a local dealer who can take great care of you!
Rough lawn question. Riding mower vs zero turn. How is the suspension in the seat for the driver with this zero turn?
Part of that depends on the mower that you’re looking and comparing it to. As far as the HD, it can handle a rough lawn and if it is too rough for the operator we have many people that end up putting a suspension seat on that makes it a very comfortable ride.
The deck is 7 gauge not 10 gauge per the GRAVELY website.
Really great job, well done
Excellent stuff thank you
Isn't this mower something like the Ariens Apex

How do you like it so far?
@@bowling8203 Hi Dan, I know it sounds crazy. I ordered the ZT HD 48 On March 2021 and just now will get delivered in 2 weeks. I will let you know as soon as I start using it 😀
What made you pick the 48 vs a 52” deck?
@@bowling8203 Coming out of a Toro 42” and doing great job I figured 48” will be the best step for me. Also garage space :)

Dang! This guy sells this sells this mower.
The mower sells itself 😉 I just brought the facts.
Do your machines have floppy belts? I just purchased a 52in zthd and the deck vibrates from the floppy belts.
That doesn’t sound quite right

Mostly just a stronger transmission
Probably a dumb question, but why are the caster arms at 2 different angles?
They have done research to determine where the air flow is low and high under the deck, we don't want to have the grass pushed over and not "sucked" back up. Josh
Can you recommend a jack lift for the HD’s 48” that won’t hit the middle scalping wheels?
I have had experience with these and they work well. www.themojack.com/mojack-ez-mower-lift/
Nice 👍
nice !
How much is the 44 ZT HD
Suggested retail as of June 30th 2022 is $6099.00 $ 200.00 off from my dealer.
Can't see the mower because of the on screen text.
Sorry. I am working on that. Trying to keep RUclips happy
not red?its orange new modele?
What color would you call it? I think it’s more orange than red but others say the opposite.
Can't find one to save my life...
😎👍🏼👍🏼
Nice mower, but no ROPS
ROPS are great in some applications. But we find in most they are simply tree limb catchers.
Kubota have ZT 3600 trans
