Just caught up on your "at home" vids...AMAZING recap...love the art, the food, the runs, the close-ups...love YOU! Can't wait for the next vid. HUGS. Uncle Henry and Aunt Patti
So fascinating to watch Bobby work. I wish i had a creative talent like that. It amazes me how artists have the vision to create from a blank slate. My daughter has a bit of artistic vision and did art class in high school so I know they teach techniques but your brain still has to have the ability to create it.
Really appreciate what you guys bring to our hiker community, great vibes and content. Discussing gear/clothing after a through hike is so much more valuable, in getting a better holistic experience of what worked and what didn’t and what you would change. Again thanks for the content!
I recently completed the JMT and tho not the PCT, the gear choices were no less difficult. I used silver light socks, after hearing about them and then also putting them to the test. Ended up with 2 pr + ingingi liners and enlightened equipment down booties. No pants, just shorts and dancer pants for wind/cold.
I can vouch for Injinji and darn tough. I love the combination. I did still get the occasional hot spot or blister but more due to shoes I think. Long sun hoodie is a MUST, IMO. Protection from the elements is so important. Agree about Amazon sun hoodie. Mine stunk after 2 hikes and did not really wash out. Surprisingly Duluth Trading sun hoodie is really great. I’ve been liking it. Great info. Thanks and happy trails.🤟🏻🥾🏔
It varies. I used super thin liners + fairly thin socks most of the time, but the shoes must be large enough. I used only one pair sometimes, like the warmest days.
Wearing 2 pairs is generally considered to reduce the chances of blisters and hot spots. Lightweight synthetic liner, with a lightweight merino wool outer sock. But now I've switched to Injinji pretty much exclusively, I mostly just wear them. I have several pairs of different weights, depending on weather.
I did the injinji liners with thin darn tough, Altra Olympus shoes. I never sized up my shoes, but some folks did. REI leggings are mid weight base layer tights. Medium are 6.25 oz light for the warmth. It looked like that’s what you were wearing Susie I used the same pair, unless you had a heavier version that looks similar.
Love watching even though I am never going to do any hiking. However I do own a lightweight cagoule. (cag - gool) is how it is pronounced here. It pulls over your head rather than zips up. We have lightweight 'cag in a bag' and a 'jack(et) in a pack' my husband I would take with us when out walking.
I have 2 frog tog raincoats and I like them for keeping dry, but mine don't have any pockets, which for me is a problem. I don't know if they are all like that.
Bandana! I can’t hike without one. Multiple uses. 100% cotton.
Welcome home!
Right on!

Thank you very much!
So, did Helene not affect you over in Chattanooga?🤔
Just some rain and some flooding. Not a problem so far.

Awesome! Thank you!
I’ve really enjoyed your videos. I recommend Outdoor Vitals for shorts/pants/sunhoodie etc. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.
I'll check it out! 🫶
Thanks amazing Hobitses. ♥

Thank you for this!!! 😁💜✌️🏞🌲🥾
You are so welcome🥰🥰
Really enjoying your channel a lot. Great to hear what clothing worked well on the trail and to see your writing and painting progressing.
Thank you very much!

Does everyone wear two pairs of socks? Seems like it would become tight and uncomfortable (for me).

Thanks for the gear reviews 😊
My pleasure!🫶
Thanks for sharing thoughts on your gear!
Thoughts on Down:
I wash and dry my down jacket and it turns out great.
Good stuff! Interesting! 🧐 perhaps I’ll do more research 🫶🫶
Hey guys, how are you doing with the storm. Central Va had rain and some tornadoes near us but we faired well . Be safe
We are well. Storms not so bad where we live in Tennessee
Did you have any problem in the desert with sunburn while wearing shorts?
Legs never had an issue strangely enough. We used sunscreen regularly on our nose ears and faces though, throughout almost the entire trail.

Oh that makes sense!!! Thank you for that.

I think they might all be that way
Hello again, thought I would go back to the beginning of your PCT hike and could not locate days 1 to 44. Are those filed under another name? Thanks
They didn't release any videos prior to day 45.
That is correct. Day 45 is our first. I am putting together vides from the beginning 🥰 they should be published soon!
@@TravelWritePaintI did read your written blogs or notes. The AZT bits were interesting as well. Later, I could not re-locate them.
Did you replace your water filters during your trip at all?
We actually went through 3 different water filters and systems so I guess yes!
Has anybody taken regular trail runners and glued a rubber bigfoot pattern on the bottom of their shoes? Because that's what I would do.
It must be done! 😂
Shorts with liners... another item I don't think I'd be comfortable wearing after a several days of no showers and washing it.
🤷♀️ eh 😂. I’ve found there are worse things. Tho I will say I always pack out wet naps
