    Notes (hope this helps)
    Morning Routine*:
    -Cleanse skin
*optional if you use a mask: apply mask and rinse off*
-Toner (also optional) gets the dirt and excess makeup + purifies
    Serums:
-Vitamin C on first (penetrates into skin, most effective, recommends putting on FIRST)
Note: Don’t use AHA/BHA with vitamin C: If you have to, alternate Vitamin C
Water based FIRST/after Vitamin C: “Buffet”, Hyaluronic Acid, Matrixyl 3000
    - Niacinamide (also optional, researched that it’s OK to use with Vitamin C)
-OILS (don’t use AHA/BHA with vitamin C): come before moisturizer to avoid pilling
    -Eye cream
    -Moisturizer
    SPF
*pilling (products are reacting to each other): wash face all over again and start over
    Nighttime Skin Routine
-Remove makeup (as advised per Hyram, don’t use makeup wipes!!), so makeup removing balm, oil cleanser, etc
    -Cleanse (double cleanse)
-*optional* Mask, leave on for recommended time, rinse off
    -Toner
-Water Based Serums: “Buffet”, Hyaluronic Acid, Matrixyl 3000, + Niacinamide
If using Retinal/Retinoids: *Do NOT incorporate Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, etc
    -Retinoid/Retinal (let it sit)
-Eye Cream/Serum (I personally use the Caffeine Solution from The Ordinary since eye creams are really just overpriced moisturizers )
    -Moisturize
    Morning No No’s
If using lactic acid, Salicylic Acid:
-DON’T use vitamin C, and alternate days of product usage
    Nighttime No No’s
-uses glycolic toning acid at night
-Don’t use any acids with Retina/Retinoids including the glycolic toner
    Note:
    - you can switch up days so one day you can use your glycolic acid, lactic acid, retinol, retinoid, etc.
-Using products all together will make your skin very sensitive and cancel out the benefits of the products
What to know which acid to use:
Lactic Acid: no oily skin, not acne prone (normal to dry skin)
-Benefits: clean inside walls of pores
    Glycolic Acid: ANYONE
-Benefits: dark spots, past acne scarring, redness, uneven skin tone, texture, fine lines and wrinkles (DO NOT USE when applying Retinoids/Retinal)
Salicylic Acid: acne prone (oily skin)

I just don't know how to layer these topicals with my products but my routine consists of CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser, CeraVe Hyralaunic Acid, Cerave AM moisturizer. I just found out that The Ordinary advises against combining their Buffet with vitamin C (ascorbic acid).
It is fine to mix Buffet with vitamin C derivatives (like sodium Ascorbyl phosphate, Ascorbyl Glucoside, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, etc). Just not ascorbic acid.

I am starting to use a cleanser that has salicylic acid (Paula's choice clear cleanser) and I also use a glycolic acid 10% toner three times a week, but I'm worried that combination might over exfoliate my skin. Do you think it's ok to use both AHAs and BHAs in the same routine three times a week? I have lots of breakouts and want to work towards clear skin. I always follow with HA and a moisturizer.
I love your channel! thanks for the great videos!

    • @SincerelyMissAsh
      @SincerelyMissAsh  4 года назад +1

      Hi Annie,
If you are not used to using AHA's and BHA's and now you are starting to incorporate them into your skincare routine then I would probably not combine the cleanser and toner together right away. Try using the cleanser three times per week like you said and see how your skin is. If you don't see any dryness then I would slowly incorporate the toner maybe once that week in combination with the cleanser and wait a few days and see how you are. If you are fine then the following week add the toner in 2 times that week (leaving several days in-between).. I would be doing this at nighttime..
Usually you don't want to combine strong acids with strong acids as it can irritate the skin more and cause more dryness but some people do and they love the pairing and see great results. So judge based on how your skin does and go from there 🤗

Aw thank you so much. I am glad I was able to answer all of your questions.
Niacinamide can be used twice a day but it all depends on your skin. If you have constant acne, black heads and oily skin then use it everyday. There isn't a need for twice a day but you definitely can.. I only use the Niacinamide when I am breaking out or feel some acne starting but when my face is calm and no pimples I don't use it.
As for the acids, you could use Glycolic one night, lactic the other night and the salicylic another night and repeat cycle again. If your skin is more sensitive then use one acid one night skip the next night and not use any acid and then the third night use another acid and so on. Does this make sense? lol! That is only if you have sensitive skin but if you don't then it doesn't matter what acid you use at night as long as you are not using all three in one night.

You shouldn't be using your glycolic pads along with your vitamin c in one routine. Vitamin C is best to be used in the morning and glycolic at night. As long as you separate the two you will be fine.

    • @SincerelyMissAsh
      @SincerelyMissAsh  4 года назад

      Hi there,
I would apply HA before the Buffet and/or matrixyl but everything else in that routine is spot on. Note: You don't have to apply Buffet and Matrixyl together as they are doing the same thing (Buffet has more ingredients) so maybe to make room for the Vitamin C use the Matrixyl on your neck..
Vitamin C can conflict with peptides making the vitamin c less potent. If you can use it in the morning that might be better (as long as you're not using acids) but if not make sure your vitamin c is completely dry before applying your buffet or Matrixyl.

Hello! The Ordinary website suggests not to use peptides (Buffet, Matrixyl etc) with pure Vitamin C (LAA/ELAA). So i am carefull about that because i also use the Buffet and for vitamin C serum i use Paula's Choice C15 Super Booster. The Ordinary website also says not to combine Vitamin C with Niacinamide so i am not sure about combining those two together yet....

    • @SincerelyMissAsh
      @SincerelyMissAsh  5 лет назад +1

      Hi there,
I read the same thing regarding the vitamin c and peptides but when I looked further and did some more research on this I read multiple articles that said as long as you wait until your vitamin c is dry before applying a peptide is fine. Combining a vitamin c with AHA's and BHA's is definitely not recommended.
As for the Niacinamide, I did see that on the Ordinary website as well but studies have shown that Niacinamide and Vitamin C work well together. The new Summer Friday's Vitamin C serum has Niacinamide in it as well to give you an example.

Skincare can be confusing for sure. You definitely want to use your Ordinary Toner first then followed by your Buffet etc... I always put my peptides first (buffet) before my other serums but when I am using an acid like the lactic I apply it first as it's a little more watery than the Buffet.

Us Canadians CAN get the peeling solution from Beautybay here is the link: bit.ly/2RhGZdQ it is sold out right now but keep checking back as this will get shipped here. I haven't ordered from Beauty Bay yet but I know some of my Canadian followers that have and had no issues.

I don't use a toner anymore in my skincare routines because they are really not necessary to have and I am trying to simplify my routines.. They are nice to use though especially if they have good ingredients in them... No, I wasn't meaning the toning solution from the Ordinary. 1. Serums come after a toner and before moisturizers and oils.
      2. There is no need to use the Copper Peptide with Matrixyl (use one or the other in one routine) and yes you can use it with Niacinamide.
      3. You could be adding too much Hyaluronic Acid. Use 2-3 drops and gently massage into skin.

Yes you can. Just make sure that the Vitamin C is put down first. Make sure your face is completely dry before adding the Buffet. • @SincerelyMissAsh

      Thank you so much!
I would not mix it with the Ordinary Ascorbic Acid with Arbutin because that is your vitamin c but you could in fact purchase a separate serum that is just Alpha Arbutin by the Ordinary. You can apply that water based serum first then your Tretinoin on top. Alpha Arbutin is also a skin lighter (more mild) to help with hyper pigmentation. You can use the Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin 2% in the morning though and the Tretinoin in the p.m.
If you don’t have hyperpigmentation concerns then don’t bother purchasing the separate alpha Arbutin.

I once worked as a cosmetician and was certified at that time.
