- Jumpers from around the United States and all over the world participate in the 30th Anniversary of Leapfest, the Rhode Island Army National Guard's largest, longest standing, international static-line parachute training event and competition. The Rhode Island Army National Guard holds Leapfest every August. This year, 20 teams of international paratroopers, including teams from Morocco and South Africa, will compete against over 40 paratrooper teams from the United States military. Supporting Rhode Island this year were Guardsmen from Pennsylvania and Connecticut flying CH-47 Chinooks, riggers from Ft. Benning and the Indiana National Guard. The winners of this year's competition are: Teams: 1st - the Paratroopers of 3rd Battalion Royal 22nd Regiment from Quebec, Canada 2nd - the Defense Logistics Agency - Riggers from New Cumberland, Pennsylvania 3rd - US Army Advanced Airborne School from Fort Bragg, North Carolina Individual: 1st - Captain Lance Jenson from the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion from New Jersey
I'm the first guy you see jump in the video. The Canadian. And I can't stress how amazing it is. I got out of the army last January and I wish the Rhode Island National Guard would open the contest up to civilian international teams. Because to be I honest I think Leapfest may have been one of the greatest experiences I've ever had.
CH-47's are by far the most comfortable aircraft to jump out of!

How exactly does a team win a static line jumping competition?
How does someone loose a static line jumping competition?
Do the twin rotors on the helicopter weave together as the spin or are they on separate planes of rotation?
