28:36 I think part of the reason you guys got so confused here is that there are 2 related but independent ways someone can begin to draw in Stormlight.
Option 1: Attract a Spren, and do things that allow the Spren to attach to you. This is how Kaladin first began to take in Stormlight, even though he didn't say the words until Teft told him what the words were AFTER he got hung up in the Highstorm. Kaladin's Honorable acts to Protect attracted Syl and allowed her to initiate the Bond.
Option 2: Become a Squire by SPEAKING THE WORDS and Connecting to a Radiant. In this case, the Words are opening the Squire up to the Bond, and if the Knight has a Connection back to that Squire then the Squire is able to take in Stormlight and essentially "borrow" some of the Radiant's abilities.
Yes, for the squire it is essential to not only Say the words, but to truly understand them. That solidifies their Connection to their Knight and allows them to borrow Stormlight in proximity, BUT, also allows that Connection to become real enough to reach through the barrier and begin to attract a Spren or their own
Ah that makes a TON more sense. Yes us casual fans sometimes get a bit mixed up
Great list! Apart from those, one powerful moment for me is when Shallan is in Kholinar and discovers that the people she’s trying to help are actually getting forced to wait for her and they hate her for it. She crumbles and Wit shows up and tells her the story about The Girl Who Looked Up.
It's a wild moment. I never saw that part coming either and a cool story from Sanderson to show that since she doesn't have actual streets experience, even Veil needs help!
Ooh you guys, the best part of the Lift-Dalinar interaction is the beginning! Dalinar is facing an army by himself and she just joins him. The two of them vs an army. And fighting the army “… with a book?” “Do you have a weapon?” “Nope, can’t read.”
This is also my fav joke
😂 Honestly the more I read about Lyft the more I like her.
Prologue to the Way of Kings, paragraph 14:
“‘Have you seen me?’ the man asked with slurred speech.”
Blows my mind that Brando literally teases Jezrien at the beginning of it all. What a genius.
@@burkeirwin579 none of us saw him the first time around
I love when Ashe finally finds Taln. And she’s breaking down in tears apologizing. And Taln is just like “4000 years, what a gift you gave them”
The Ashe says no you have to hate me!!!
Gets me every time. 🥲
Taln is the GOAT #bearerofsorrows
What a moment!! Love that. I hope we get a LOT more info on the Heralds in WaT
Hard disagree about reading Warbreaker after Oathbringer, I’d even go as far as to say you should read it before Words of Radiance. The scene at the end when Szeth is given Nightblood and he says “Hello, would you like to destroy some Evil today?” had me doing laps around my room. I think it’s such fun reveal and it doesn’t hit nearly as hard if you don’t know his character already.
Also the Graphic Audio version of Nightblood is great and I enjoy reading his parts in that voice.
Life Before Death. Strength before Weakness. Warbreaker before Stormlight.
Going 1 more book back! I don't like to suggest Warbreaker before WoR because it hints that there is a connection. I just try and convince people to read Warbreaker first in general. All because, as you say, that "Hello, would you like to destroy some Evil today?" SLAPS when you know.
imo warbreaker has the best graphic audio out of all of the cosmere books.
and to your point, i recommend warbreaker before even starting stormlight
Shadesmar mechanics:
If a spren is locked up in Shadesmar and is then summoned later in the Physical Realm in a different corresponding location, the spren would be transported immediately to wherever they’re being summoned :) These mechanics will be discussed every now and then. Deadeyes like Maya basically wander along the bottom of the bead ocean following the corresponding location of their bonded Shardholders.
Such a creepy vibe... But glad the mechanics are clear and make sense!
You guys should make a video of you taking the knights radiant quiz and then again, answering as eachother. Would be funny to see your reactions to how you see eachother
Honorable mention-Renarin helps bring down a thunderclast.
Worthy for sure! Most confidence we've seen out of him like, ever?
Thanks fellas.
Our pleasure :)
1x speed forever. The PERFORMANCES! Any faster is complete and utter insanity.
I just set this video to 2x speed and OH MY GOD THE ANXIETY. HOW DO YOU DO THIS?!
(Keep up the great work guys.)
Hahaha well you get used to it honestly!! My sweet spot is 2.25x and I feel like I get lost so easily when it's back down around 1-1.5x... but I do agree that a lot of effort is put into those performances and should be rewarded! :)
When you were talking about Brandon always being ready for plot holes, I began thinking of the Fused leaders in Rhythm of War and how they are bound to stone. My mind instantly begins wondering how they eat and perform other "necessary" bodily functions and Sanderson answers this about 1 paragraph later.
Also, regarding the Skybreakers. Nale states he is following the original inhabitants of Roshar. This implies that he is following the singers... however, Odium is not from Roshar so this creates a confliction as the humans follow Honor who is from Roshar.
He just knows you're ready for it!! It's so wild when that happens
You guys didn't mention how you Felt about the Scadrian Worldhopper who shows up when Dalinar goes to see the Nightwatcher.
Personally, I Felt it was really obvious, but I also Felt that it was a nice change for them to be front and center for a change.
@@Ms.Pronounced_Name I see what you did there haha
Those Scadrians are everywhere now!! Also, nice ;)
Szeth brings down a thunderclast!
Anytime Sword Nimi joins in is a big moment!
