The woman who has Vasher/Zahel inptisoned is the same one who gave Odium's Spren to Venli in her flashbacks. She seems to be a Feruchemist, but we don't have a lot of other information on her. As for the Painrial, it is the same type that Navani used. There is an illustration in "The Way of Kings" and it does kinda look like a gun. Oh, and the third Worldhopper is Baon from "White Sand", he's the bodyguard of Khriss there.
7:12 Dalianr and Navani were in singer bodies in that first vision. They had no connection to the humans who had just arrived on the planet, that’s why they couldn’t understand the language or gestures
Now that makes a lot more sense!! The spiritual realm visions were admittedly confusing for me (but I’m assuming they were supposed to be)… thanks for clearing it up!
Something that I think is being foreshadowed is Gavinor’s role in the contest of champion or something important. We’ve already seen him twice saying that his “Daddy” is talking to him, saying that he is a good boy. This is probably Odium trying to get his trust and then make him do something crazy like be Odium’s champion. The only thing if this is to happen is that Dalinar himself said that he’d sacrifice himself, Navani and even Gavinor for the greater good, which means that if Gavinor is to be Odium’s champion, Dalinar should be able to handle it.
Hey Jaden in terms of Mraize disguised as honor. My opinion is he said and did exactly what honor did in that situation. As we know Mraize has bonded a corrupted Spren like Renarin. And Glynn was able to tell Renarin exactly what to say in the visions so it is likely Mraize had them same from his spren.
I really think that Adolin doesn't want to be Radiant. If he really wanted to, he would have found a way. We've seen in previous books how some characters suffer from not being able to Radiant. Do we see Adolin suffering because of this? No. He doesn't even think about it in his head. Rather, he thinks, "As a simple guy with a sword, I'm no longer enough for my father."He does not suffer from the fact that he is not radiant, he suffers from the fact that his father is not at all what he thought of him, that he does not even have a choice, from the fact that even his best qualities are not enough.
To me personally, Adolin's change has to do with his growth. I think he even has this thought at one point, but i might be imagining it. In the beginning, when Dalinar was having the visions, Adolin confronted him constantly and almost pushed him to step down thinking he was crazy. He was soooo positive that he was right. Then when it became clear that the visions were real, Adolin had this moment of realization that he was the one that was wrong, and I think he felt kind of guilty and embarrassed on some level for putting pressure on his father. To me, this was the start of him growing up and being more introspective towards life and his relationship with his father as opposed to acting on his emotions as they surface. So even though he's upset with his father and wants to have it out, he's also taking his time and thinking it through, trying to see different angles and perspectives.
15:00 Most people I know who have been in therapy a while or have been in the disabled community a while do give the caveats and disclaimers as saying something will help and then it doesn't, is demoralizing and makes it feel like something is wrong with me specially because the thing that fixes the problem does nothing, therefore I am the problem. With the disclaimers, it is easier to frame it as the treatment that is not working.
Only interesting thing with the honorblades that woll come back is nightblood talking to them. Its s same they aren't used but hopefully they will later on
14:45 oh idk, I put disclaimers on things I say pretty often, in conversation. And I’m clearly not unique lol. To be fair, if you feel like that hasn’t happened much or ever in the first 4 books, then I can see being bothered by it in this book. Personally it didn’t bother me because it seems natural to me 🤷
I think dalinar isn't a well mastered bondsmith and the use of power has to do woth intent. Dalinar intention was to connect their languages to understand that. He probably needed to connect more bonds for cultural understanding
Szeth and Adolin are the best storeis hands down. I do think the changes in pov can be too much cause you want to stay longer with these guys. Not so much with others. Love neturo love for his son and staying with him. Even though it divided his family which is sad
I just reached your Adolin discussion and let’s just say I found both the Adolin doesn’t want to be a Radiant thing and the Adolin is still hung up on the Evi/Dalinar thing… RAFO.
You are talking about a wargame. This is literally a genre of gaming. Check out John Tillers Battleground and Campaign series. It lacks diplomacy per se but certainly has all the “commanding armies” angle you are talking about…similar to Towers.
Kaladin konsidering Szeth to be tien is I think just a strange way of him to try to understand him. Im like 95% sure he also had a "revelation" that elhokar was dalinars tien in book 2 or 3. Its a classic flawed way of trying to exactly relate 2 things that are not the same
@@NextChapterYT It didn’t feel forced to me - I could see that with how both he and Kaladin are great fighters and everything, Kaladin had always sort of assumed that he and Szeth were similar. Szeth is also older than Kal. Understanding for the first time that before Szeth was trained as a fighter, he was an innocent younger brother forced into service (and then worse)… it worked for me. He’s a version of Tien who survived and lost his innocence. Or close enough for it to make sense to Kaladin.
Jayden i think you are getting confused with the intentions of the power of connection. as far as language goes connection has the ability to translate what one says into the language of another as if they were growing up with you and conveying ideas as you would. i can say after learning spanish there are alot of phrases and between english and spanish that dont translate to eachother but you can still find a way to convey the meaning. as i understand it connection skips the step of conveying and inserts idioms and casual language to convery nuances that even multi language people cant effectively do despite being fluent. this is why some of those gestures and what not are not very clear to dalinar because their is no context in which the connection can explain it. not sure if that makes sense. connection is supposed to capture nuances that we would understand dut will not explain things that have no context for the other person. Connection also need a native connection to power. for example you could create a connection between two humans pretty easily as they are the same species. it would be even easier if they are from the same planet, continent etc. it would be much harder to create a connection with say an animal because the connections are fewer and farther between, though i suspect connections can still be made. an in book example is that it would be more difficult to create a connection with the humans and the parshendi than ti woudl be to eachother. the only connection we know about for the parshendi is that they are humanoid and in some way they both come from adonosium and that they both live on roshar. They explain this pretty well in sunlit man. in that he was unable to use connection with the native people of that planet until he had been named as one of them. this created a connection that could then be enhanced with surgebinding. we dont know everythign they can be done with connection of course but this is some of it. also i suspect that a bondsmith could learn a written language through connection. they likely just havent tried it yet
Wow! Thanks for taking the time, this makes a lot more sense!! I’m hoping we get to experience a lot more of the world-hopping nuances and see the intermixing of these powers more in future books. It seems so cool and has so much potential! Also I wish we could get more Dalinar learning to he a killer bondsmith. It would be awesome!
@ fortunately the time skip between era 1 and era 2 of stormlight is only 15 years I think. So none of the characters are off the table for the next series. Of course I’m only a little further ahead than you so I can’t say for sure

You have to remember that this change in Adolin and his view of his father happened when Adolin found out how his mother was killed.

I think Mraize knew what to say as Honor because of his corrupted Spren, just like Renarin knew what to say.
From what you said, I think you’d love diplomacy. It’s like Risk, but no luck involved. It also involves lots of, obviously, diplomacy

Enjoy the rest of the book, guys! I have a few gripes but it’s overall a really great book :)
So glad to hear! Excited to get there :)

@ There are things I want to say on this but you guys just have to read a little faster!

StarCraft… it’s a video game but it was a a real time strategy game
We are going to have to check it out!! Next Chapter might become a gaming channel 😂😂

Yeah I can see why he is trying to connect it for sure… just feels like he ‘discovers’ that in a way that is forcing it a bit

Try playing Hearts of Iron 4 its mechanics are very deep. You get to play actual countries in World War 2.
