That whole segment is what made the books for me. It worked so so well with all of the build up to that point. For us readers it was kind of annoying how those characters were not able to see each other's points of view to things, so when it finally clicked, it was very satisfying. That part where they tell each other their stories so as to distract themselves from the terror of the storm would've felt cheesy in any other book - but the way Sanderson set it up made it very compelling to read.

Fun fact, they WERE written as separate chapters and then combined, in a fashion. Brandon approaches writing Stormlight books one viewpoint character at a time, and writes their whole plotline for the book, then moves on to the next character (e.i. he writes Kaladin's entire plotline in back-to-back chapters, and *then* all of Shallan's chapters). Then after he's written everything, he goes through and shuffles the chapters together so they're in a chronological order that narratively makes sense!

I believe my opinion won't be a very popular one, but honestly... the scene that stands out the most for me in the Stormlight Archive is Kaladin's first bridge run. It felt so raw and honest, Sanderson really makes you feel the pain a bridgeman feels in every run. It feels special for me because of Kaladin's point of view, too. He always thought the war in the Shattered Plains was fought by men of honor, and he felt the bitter taste of one of the worst experiences a human could ever go through, brought to him by those he thought would be fair and forgiving. Plus, the writing on that whole section is just out of this world.

I can't even choose a favorite scene, but it's definitely not that one, nor the duel with Adolin and Kaladin.
The scene I always think of first, is the one where Kal and Shallan meet for the first time, and she makes him hand over his boots. I know it's not super dramatic or deep, but it's what I think of, okay!?
Also, the battle where Kal "kills" Szeth was so satisfying!
Also, Sadeas' epically anticlimactic death. XD
And, of course, when Syl freaks out and says "the one who hates" has come. I genuinely thought she was referring to Odium. Then it turned out to just be Szeth. (Dunno if this was because I'd previously heard vague spoilers about Odium's existence, or if he'd already been mentioned at this point.)

But what is that flying ahead of the storm, is that a cremling, is that a windspren, is that a skyeel (of course not), it turns out it is this man who has answered an important question about himself, he has re-affirmed his value system. He is glowing with the confidence, conviction, strength and the stormlight of having done so.
He arrives to protect those who cannot protect themselves, he arrives to save his lord from certain death. He is hope, he is the one sliver of hope when everything seems lost. He is Kaladin Stormblessed.

The POV switching is really cool in the the audiobook, cause Michael Kramer reads the chapters with male POV and Kate Reading reads the one with female POV. Even when Kaladin and Shallan are talking to each other, the narrator stays whoever the chapter narrator is. But this chapter, they constantly switch off. It really feels like a dialogue and you get these characters coming to their independent conclusions of “Amaram killed Helaran” and “I want Amaram dead even if it’s not the honorable thing to do.”

For me, the best chapter was the first Kaladin Szeth battle. The buildup to that moment where Kaladin and Shallans spren were being frantic leading up to Szeths arrival was just perfect use of anticipation (helped that I was listening when there was a thunderstorm outside)

Although it is multiple chapters and scenes, I think the part with Kaladin and Shallan alone in the chasms is the my favorite. It really feels like the culmination of literally 1800 pages spent with these two (mostly) apart. It's one of the best things I've read in all of fiction. the moment when Kal realizes that Shallan is broken, yet still smiles... the implication that he is falling in love with her... the way they start to joke more and more as it goes on... it's so good.

My favourite scene is the duel because usually i zone out during fight/battle/war scenes, no matter how hard i try i cannot pay attention be it film, book, audiobooks. But there are scenes, few and special, where i am 100% there, and that duel is one of those scenes, and i remember just stopping in one spot on my walk home while listening to this scene, it was so very special. And while there were a few other fight scenes in stormlight that i was into, that one stands out the most. And how i cringed when Kaladin highjacked the boon.

Yeah same. I have such a hard time visualizing such things, and I realized as I was reading that the color-coding of the Plate made it WAY easier to follow along in my head. When I know that X is orange and Y is blue, as opposed to just generic gray or whatnot, I can much more vividly conjure what's going on and follow people's movements. Simple, understated, hugely effective bit of writing there that helps those of us with that problem.

There was this relatively trivial moment during Kaladin's flying, when he soars up into the sky and grasp a view of the shattered plains. Kladin sees... "a pattern."
Kaladin's chapter suddenly overlapping with Shallan's worldview slapped me so hard that it trapped me in this brief moment that really doesn't mean anything by itself.
Kinda weird that it stays alongside with all the wonderful moments in the book, but I decided to keep it there anyway.

And while there are so many epic scenes (some of the best in fantasy, IMO), Kaladin, Dalinar, and Adolin vs Szeth is one of my absolute favorite parts (maybe tied with Kaladin getting his powers back). The book is amazing, it is hard to tell a a favourite scene.
I will choose my favourite scene based on my ability in that specific moment to picturit in my mind: My favourite from Words of Radiance is when Kaladin was fighting Szeth and Syl was helping him, transforming from a shield to a blade to a spear to a blade again. I was vizualizing it in my mind so well that i dreamed Syl was MY spreen and was doing so (thanks to Shallan's drawings lol).
However my favourite scene from Book 1 and 2 is still when Kaladin first made his Oaths and led the Bridgmen to save Dalinar in the Tower.
So many amazing moments, and most of all, a story so well constructed that it seems almost unfair to point out one moment in particular.

Elhokar breaking down in front of Kaladin was probably my favourite scene. I was so annoyed with Elhokar after everything he had done before, culminating in how he threw Kaladin in prison, but that conversation made all that annoyance fade away. You really come to empathise with him at the same time as Kaladin.
