This was my wedding song for my second marriage after a horrible first marriage. It’s a perfect song to express how I felt finding TRUE love. I didn’t think I would find it but it happened.
I so wish this specific version was released on one of her live albums…and I still want to know who the dude with the upright bass singing with her is!!
Rex Craigo There are a lot of pop stars who rely on studio wizardry to make their voices sound good on record, she's not one of them at allllll as her talent is for real.
Sara, your concert was the first concert my boyfriend (at the time) & I saw together and 4 years later your song was the first song played at Our wedding! Our wedding party walked down the aisle to this song and I cried as I watched from a hidden distance (happy tears of course!) Your music continues to be a special part of our relationship. Thank You for writing such beautiful songs and for performing them beautifully as well! Cheers to you!
Exactly. I always grit my teeth when a couple asks for this song for their wedding. Defs not the hardest ever, but she makes it sound easier than it is! :-)
Its pretty crazy how you can tell even just from hearing the studio versions of her songs how good of a musician and songwriter she is. I've heard some of her stuff at work having never heard of her before, and I could tell she wrote her own music and probably played multiple instruments just based on how well everything fit together and how tasteful her singing voice is.
I have been listening to this song for the last seven years. I kept waiting to dedicate this song to the woman whom I was going to meet, and now that I have met her, I dedicated this song to her. "Tell the world that we finally got it all right, I choose you". God bless you.💗
I discovered this for a friend who is teaching me the guitar part so she can sing over it. It's such a great song! I am blown away at Sara Bareilles' voice. Like, what a beautiful, refined, practiced instrument.
Phenomenal woman. She's so good it just hurts. One of the few artists out there who writes, sings and lives with her heart out on her sleeve all the while remaining humble and HUMAN.
She has such amazing demand and control of her voice. I wish I could transition from my chest voice to my head voice that seamlessly. She executes the range and amount of notes in the word "Choose" in this song perfectly! I'm thankful there are still popular female artists today who can actually write songs with meaningful lyrics and SING without autotune. Yay, Sara!!!!
I just discovered this song yesterday. It was playing in a grocery story. It’s been on repeat ever since. So beautiful. If I ever get married again, this is the song. ❤
Sara, thank you for your songs, I am a single dad of an 11 year old girl who is just getting into music more. I can put your videos on and be happy that they are just quality, music, writing, and singing. Some of the videos are quirky and funny, some are more serious, and some like this are just sweet, like my daughter. Awesome! Thank you. So much horrible stuff out there targeted at teens I am glad you are an oasis. I do know this Christmas she will have several of your CDs under the tree, and I can put them there happy that they will be come a part of her.
Let the bough break, let it come down crashing Let the sun fade out to a dark sky I can't say I'd even notice it was absent Cause I could live by the light in your eyes I'll unfold before you What I've strung together The very first words Of a lifelong love letter Tell the world that we finally got it all right I choose you I will become yours and you will become mine I choose you I choose you (Yeah) There was a time when I would have believed them If they told me you could not come true Just love's illusion But then you found me and everything changed And I believe in something again My whole heart will be yours forever This is a beautiful start To a lifelong love letter Tell the world that we finally got it all right I choose you I will become yours and you will become mine I choose you I choose you We are not perfect We'll learn from our mistakes And as long as it takes I will prove my love to you I am not scared of the elements I am under-prepared, but I am willing And even better I get to be the other half of you Tell the world that we finally got it all right I choose you Yeah I will become yours and you will become mine I choose you I choose you I choose you
Sara, can we agree this is a very tender song. You matter so much to me. I want to make sure you’re feeling okay about any type of directions, paths, and maybe even the trajectories that we might end up going with where this song, and, by default, our relationship is heading over the long term.
Same, it’s by far the best version, even out of the fan recorded live performances. Who is the Adam Baldwin-lookin guy on the bass singing backup? He’s totally the key
My daughter, Samantha turns 24 tomorrow...and I recently discovered she loves Sara. I feel so blessed that she has such talented women to inspire her. Given i had a near fatal heart attack when she was 7, every B-day I share with Sam (even by feeling her vibe through music) is just so freakin special. Thank you Sara
This song means a lot to me, I asked my wife to marry me by playing/singing this song with my guitar in a surprise party that me and our friends planned together. She couldn't believe it and was so shocked. Everytime I listen to this I remember that day and the love we feel!
Ms. Bareilles has impressed me so greatly. She has a huge voice, she is always on key using an amazing variety of passing notes (but never any wasted), and is a tremendous talent at arranging a song. Always , in every performance I've watched, whether cover or original, she "brings it." I am a huge fan of covers - but I don't think covers should be done EXACTLY the same. I feel like covers should be done as if the songwriter brought the song to the new artist first, and it's the first performance ever of that song. The performing artist has to bring something to the table. Ms. Bareilles does that - and then some. Somehow she blends the creativity of the original recording artist and her own take on the song and comes up with something both familiar and original. She is fully in charge, universally creative, and extraordinarily talented. She must have worked so incredibly hard to have the multitude of challenging skills she deploys in each and every song performance.
+ignited red She has a beautiful voice! ... after hearing her version of Yellow Brick Road, any time I hear Elton's version come on the radio I have to change the channel now ... nothing compares to Sara's version!
That little look over her shoulder to make eye contact with the bass player telling him she's totally vibing is really telling. This is a really tight performance...
Stay with your own style, don't let the marketers spoil you PLEASE! YOU do great work, keep it up, we need you. I may be 7 years late, but what you have in your voice is what keeps us going, don't let anyone tell ya different.
If this song doesn't make you stop and listen, I mean truly give you a moment of absolute attention, then I feel bad for you. This is one of those songs that just captures your attention and makes you want to feel exactly what she is talking about; whether you have it or not.
This live version is amazing. The sound quality is fantastic too. Sara is glowing with beauty. I've listened to this like 100 times over the years. I wish I could buy the uncompressed WAV file.
The sound quality of this recording is excellent. That is all Sara singing..... live..... playing a guitar.... she has many different looks, and they are all beautiful! She always looks as good as she sounds.....
The song is so perfect and cute and upbeat the original way, but it is SO beautiful and genuine the acoustic way. I couldn't 'choose' one over the other ;) They are both amazing!
This is the 2nd straight Sara Bareilles song I've listened to on this Christmas day...and it's amazing how important to the experience it is... that very first note...and then the rest. The first stroke of this artist is magical, is Heaven, is a gift...Christmas.
This song will always mean something to me. A classmate i had just met this month passed away in a motorcycle accident. He gave me this song to listen to the day before he died. He loved it!. He was an amazing person. Full of life!.. im still torn about it. :(
Sara, you voice is so beautiful and pure... This song just got me to tears to think of when I got married to my husband... You're an incredible artist!!
THIS WAS 11 years ago already. I love this song, ‘I choose You’ and Sara’s version of it especially with the upright bass and the camera work in the background and of course his vocals to her beautiful voice. LOVE the way Sara sings the words, “…. Love LETTER ” ❤❤❤ 🍃💞🌹
I wonder if you can elaborate on that. When I first heard the song, the bridge is what gave it away to me as possibly her song. It's pretty signature, but is there anything beyond that?
Matthew Shaulis I was just suggesting what you have well asserted, that her songs' bridges are her signature. Most songwriters, to my ears, treat the bridge as a throwaway. Lennon & McCartney, of course, are the big exception, and Sara possibly is following in their footsteps. But I also meant it as a play on the word 'bridge', because I think many of Sara's songs help build 'bridges' between individuals. I hope that answers your question.
drocpdp Another way to explain the bridge is by thinking of typical song structure. Normally we hear the first verse, then the chorus, then another verse, then the chorus again. The bridge would typically follow the second or third playing of the chorus and have a melody all its own, distinct from both verse and chorus melody. Often, the bridge would be followed by yet another, and usually final playing of the chorus. This song follows that structure for the most part, and as Chris Dang mentioned, the bridge here starts right around 2:48.
Sara about I CHOOSE YOU: This guy came after me and he was like: My wife and I really want to use a song of yours in our wedding but everything you write is SUPER depressinng ... and than I cried and I agreed with him!! And I went home and I really tought about love, and than I tough about WHY haven't I spent my energy in sort of articulating a song the way I hope and want to feel love in my life, and so I DID!
The voice of a Powerhouse with precise intonation and performance reliability of Joni Mitchell ..... a rare bird - a Songbird of enormous beauty like no other.
I dedicate this to all the people who are wanting to feel chosen. Do not try too long to change someone who doesn’t see your worth. Remember the perfect child you were and sing this song to them. Don’t allow anyone to make you competed for their attention. Choose yourself. First always. Now listen to Brave by same artist.
This was my wedding song for my second marriage after a horrible first marriage. It’s a perfect song to express how I felt finding TRUE love. I didn’t think I would find it but it happened.
Love love love this for you! Congratulations! Somehow Sara can make even the perfect moments even better.
I played this at our wedding last weekend. So much love ❤
This is the best performance she has ever given of this song. Honest, emotional, vulnerable ….spectacular.
I so wish this specific version was released on one of her live albums…and I still want to know who the dude with the upright bass singing with her is!!
Can I start a petition to have this version on Spotify? It's the best one and its not even remotly close.
Yes!
It’s the timing and purity of the voice. Better live than recorded.
Genius, level artist, and I don’t say it lightly
I walked down the aisle to this version of the song. So beautiful.
You are blessed ❤🙏
Even live her voice is insanely good, real talent here.
+Liam James EVEN live? What's that supposed to mean? She's good recorded but you expected her to suck live?Makes no sense.
Rex Craigo There are a lot of pop stars who rely on studio wizardry to make their voices sound good on record, she's not one of them at allllll as her talent is for real.
+Angie XtotheO So funny! And spot on!
Are you kidding??? Listen to black eyed peas on album, then listen to them on live. The difference is staggering.
Almost no musicians sound the same live as on the record
One of the best songwriters of all time....
Her voice feels like souls holding hands, its so beautiful and wonderfully moving.
Sara, your concert was the first concert my boyfriend (at the time) & I saw together and 4 years later your song was the first song played at Our wedding! omg the loveliest thing everrr! :’) stay strong!! 😍💕
+amf26 thank you! 💕
I'm planning to play this song at my wedding too. I even really think of inviting Sara to perform live during the ceremony. Simply beautiful
That's just so lovely...Bless You!!!
And yes, this indeed is one of the loveliest song i have ever heard
how sweet! I wish I witnessed that.
Beautiful song, but also just gorgeous poetry. "This is a beautiful start to a lifelong love letter." Chills.
Not the easiest song to sing. Yet she was always in control. She's really an incredible singer.
Andreas Novianto she wrote it right?
If you write and record a song yourself, you're probably able to sing it.
She did great 😊
Exactly. I always grit my teeth when a couple asks for this song for their wedding. Defs not the hardest ever, but she makes it sound easier than it is! :-)
What makes it hard to sing? I don't sing so I don't know.
This generation needs more artists like her. She's soooo great! I hope she visits Philippines. She has lots of fans here. :)
👍👍
😀😀😀 Sya talaga hinihintay ko
I agree! Pure beautiful talent!
Trueeeeee!
It's my dream to watch her live in the Philippines.
I have been listening to this song for the last seven years. I kept waiting to dedicate this song to the woman whom I was going to meet, and now that I have met her, I dedicated this song to her. "Tell the world that we finally got it all right, I choose you".
God bless you.💗
So sweet...🙂
Give it time friend. She'll come around.
Sara,always my favorite.
Notice how her pitch is perfect even live
Truly amazing🙌
She also taught herself to play all those instruments
That is one thing that really freaks me out about her voice. The upright bass player is in a class of his own also.
The simplicity of the performance and purity of her voice is simply amazing.
I discovered this for a friend who is teaching me the guitar part so she can sing over it. It's such a great song! I am blown away at Sara Bareilles' voice. Like, what a beautiful, refined, practiced instrument.
Sara's voice is out of this world.
Phenomenal woman. She's so good it just hurts. One of the few artists out there who writes, sings and lives with her heart out on her sleeve all the while remaining humble and HUMAN.
How can she be this underrated.?
I don't know?
Most people have bad taste. It's a case of the lowest common denominator appealing to most... And she's definitely NOT old!
Not anymore. A lot has changed in the last 5 yrs.
*Underrated by who? She has millions of downloads, has earned 6 grammys, and is a best selling author**
i rack my brain daily trying to begin to understand that. Or, that's she's 0-7 when it comes to Grammy's. She DESERVES A GRAMMY!!!!
I really really like that guy who was playing an instrument behind her while second voicing. He was totally feelin' the song while playing it! I lavet
I just discovered this song yesterday. It was playing in a grocery story. It’s been on repeat ever since. So beautiful. If I ever get married again, this is the song. ❤
Love is proper. My mother also means a lot to me. She sees you. She is so proud of you
Sara, thank you for your songs, I am a single dad of an 11 year old girl who is just getting into music more. I can put your videos on and be happy that they are just quality, music, writing, and singing. this lady has never written a bad song, she always stuns me...
Let the bough break, let it come down crashing
Let the sun fade out to a dark sky
I can't say I'd even notice it was absent
Cause I could live by the light in your eyes
I'll unfold before you
What I've strung together
The very first words
Of a lifelong love letter
Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose you
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose you
I choose you
(Yeah)
There was a time when I would have believed them
If they told me you could not come true
Just love's illusion
But then you found me and everything changed
And I believe in something again
My whole heart
will be yours forever
This is a beautiful start
To a lifelong love letter
Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose you
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose you
I choose you
We are not perfect
We'll learn from our mistakes
And as long as it takes
I will prove my love to you
I am not scared of the elements
I am under-prepared, but I am willing
And even better
I get to be the other half of you
Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose you
Yeah
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose you
I choose you
I choose you
Lovely
Thanks for the lyrics! perfect
🙄
Because everyobe here couldn't alteady hear.

I don't know how many times I've listened to this version and it gives me chills. Every. Time.
Same, it’s by far the best version, even out of the fan recorded live performances. Who is the Adam Baldwin-lookin guy on the bass singing backup? He’s totally the key
@@Miss_Camel Yeah. The arrangement between the two is just right.
@@nickrogers8588 also the best version of “gravity” is the one she did with her college a capella group, and I will die on that hill.
Everytime
When no one thinks you can succeed, when everyone calls you a failure, it doesn't take much to prove them wrong
I can't get enough of this girl.
10 years later, and first dance 10 years later to this song- it still makes me cry. ❤
My daughter, Samantha turns 24 tomorrow...and I recently discovered she loves Sara. I feel so blessed that she has such talented women to inspire her. What a beautiful post.
I hope you're doing well today and get to share moments with your daughter all the time.
God Bless.

Smoky old bar in the Village about 1966. My heart touched even deeper in this now. Sara, the heart spy.
Her voice is so pure and sweet it makes my heart melt
Ana Moura agreed.
A wonderful female voice! She sings, she writes, she is amazing! Listen up, world! You will love Sara too! How could you not?
She's amazing but the guy behind her is also wonderful. What a great team !
11 years later, I still come back to this song.
This song means a lot to me, I asked my wife to marry me by playing/singing this song with my guitar in a surprise party that me and our friends planned together. She couldn't believe it and was so shocked. Everytime I listen to this I remember that day and the love we feel!

Brian Zaborowski never heard her version, but gotta listen to it :)
me too, like 6 years ago, right? ;)
That little look over her shoulder to make eye contact with the bass player telling him she's totally vibing is really telling. This is a really tight performance...
There's just something about this girl. Lovely voice, nice music and tons of charisma. Lovely face as well by the way.
Stay with your own style, don't let the marketers spoil you PLEASE! YOU do great work, keep it up, we need you. I may be 7 years late, but what you have in your voice is what keeps us going, don't let anyone tell ya different.
God I love Sara Barellies one of last true music artists still standing these days.
If this song doesn't make you stop and listen, I mean truly give you a moment of absolute attention, then I feel bad for you. This is one of those songs that just captures your attention and makes you want to feel exactly what she is talking about; whether you have it or not.
Exactly what happened to me! this song is so catchy, it makes you wonder what she's singing about.
You have the voice of an angel Sara.
There is no one more beautiful inside or out. Heavenly.
Sara Bareilles is perfect.
In my mind you’re somewhere between joan of arc, katniss everdeen, and daenerys targarean, all mixed up in one outstanding woman, i love.
This song is ridiculously beautiful!
OMG it’s 2019 now and I’d never heard of this angel until I stumbled across her on You Tube tonight. Can’t stop watching. Soul food.
This live version is amazing. The sound quality is fantastic too. Sara is glowing with beauty. I've listened to this like 100 times over the years. I wish I could buy the uncompressed WAV file.
Not only is Sara Bareilles an Amazing singer, but she is just amazing at playing her instruments! Their rests in the songs are so together!
Watching Sara sing this song is breathtaking. What a talent!
I can't believe this only has close to 5 million views. To me, this is a better version than the radio version,I love it.
john yekel yeah way better
Write the lyrics, write the music, play the music, sing the lyrics, win award upon award........This artist is incredible.
The sound quality of this recording is excellent. That is all Sara singing..... live..... playing a guitar.... she has many different looks, and they are all beautiful! She always looks as good as she sounds.....
that was wonderful... it fills this gloomy hospital room like she is right here
What a beautiful human person.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever created, no doubts.
She’s such a badass
The song is so perfect and cute and upbeat the original way, but it is SO beautiful and genuine the acoustic way. I couldn't 'choose' one over the other ;) They are both amazing!
Eu amei essa música desde a primeira vez que ouvi.
Your comment is so lovely, as much as Sara's song!
Beautiful voice...beautiful song...
Is the first I heard this song and I already love it!!!... definitely I choose you!!
SHES THE SINGer..that never fails to make me automatically close my eyes..savor her every note..
This is the 2nd straight Sara Bareilles song I've listened to on this Christmas day...and it's amazing how important to the experience it is... that very first note...and then the rest. The first stroke of this artist is magical, is Heaven, is a gift...Christmas.
Whoever made this recording deserves an Oscar! I wish all the videos had this quality... Shes like here with me...
This song will always mean something to me. A classmate i had just met this month passed away in a motorcycle accident. He gave me this song to listen to the day before he died. He loved it!. He was an amazing person. Full of life!.. im still torn about it. :(
No longer in time and space
This song grabbed my hand
And I stepped into eternity
Now I realize I was always here
Sara, you voice is so beautiful and pure... This song just got me to tears to think of when I got married to my husband... You're an incredible artist!!
yes, her performance is amazing as always, but i'm captivated by her hairdo. so cute!
Notice how perfect every tone was. Such an angelic voice. Beautiful song. ❤👌👏👏👏🎵🎤
Amazingly talented and stunningly beautiful. ❤❤
Its been a year and I still prefer this version, so calming ^-^
"I could live by the light in your eyes." I audibly awwwed.
If & when I get married 💞
I freaking love Sara, I'm glad she existed.
I'm pretty sure she still does...exist that is. Please don't use past tense when talking about Sara Bareilles, I may have a heart attack.
I really hopes she wins this year at the Grammy. She deserves it so much.
THIS WAS 11 years ago already. I love this song, ‘I choose You’ and Sara’s version of it especially with the upright bass and the camera work in the background and of course his vocals to her beautiful voice. LOVE the way Sara sings the words, “…. Love LETTER ” ❤❤❤
🍃💞🌹
One of my MOST favorite performance.
O M F G !!!! Swearing like a sailor.... singing like an angel !! What a musician !
The bridge master ...
William Gabriel :-)
drocpdp 2:48 exemplifies a bridge very well. A bridge is often used as the part of a song that prepares/blends for the chorus, but not necessarily.
drocpdp Another way to explain the bridge is by thinking of typical song structure.
I choose you as my FAVORITE female singer-songwriter. Nobody else comes close.
She is my favorite female singer/song writer/ musician ❤️❤️
Beautiful , beautiful , beautiful , beautiful , beautiful song !
I'm busy, but cannot bring myself to stop listening, simply beautiful ❤️
ment to say "no matter how f'd up" this world is, it is a comfort to know there will ALWAYS be art.
He could have used one of my faves: One Sweet Love. Not remotely depressing. :)
So you might say she wrote a love song because someone asked for it, because he needed it (for their wedding)? ;-)
Best vocalist of my generation for sure, and I'm a Celine Dion fan too but jeez, no one has vocal control like Sara...
I got the chills while listening to this! I love this song and it makes me wanna cry every time! Her voice is smoother than silk! Beautiful!!!
The voice of a Powerhouse with precise intonation and performance reliability of Joni Mitchell ..... a rare bird - a Songbird of enormous beauty like no other.
My favorite song of all time! And this is the best version of it.
I just love this version so much!!!
I choose you. It is what everyone wants to hear from their beloved. And what everyone should say to the person they love.
Walking down the isle next May to this version of this song! Absolutely beautiful!!! 😍
love Sara, a high profile female artist who´s more about the music than the image.
