    I was with a group of 12 women that hiked Alum Cave Trail on Tuesday. We stayed overnight at the Lodge and returned the next day on Trilliium. It was awesome! Thank you for your video that helped prepare us for the hike.

    I’ve only hiked as far as Alum Cave. Does the trail get sketchy (narrow with vertical drop) after that? Thanks! Sub and Like added!

    • @adventuresfound7797
      @adventuresfound7797  3 года назад

      The trail does have a few points above Alum that navigates vertical and narrow passes. Although, I’m not a fan of heights, and I felt comfortable on those “sketchy” spots. There is a steel cable to hold onto at the steepest drops. You’ll do fine. Adventure on and thanks for watching and the sub!

    Agree that LeConte is THE classic trail to capture what it means to be on a mountain in the heart of the Smokies. Popular for good reason but still requires a lot from the pilgrim. I've been jonesin' for mah Smokies, watching a lot of trail vids.. i like your edit , style and sense of aesthetics : no complaining about conditions or apologizing for the clouds.. the play of mists was fantastic, gear data and historic references were pithy and brief, the mention of the evergreens' smell added dimension. Decided to like and subscribe even before the bear.. such character in her happy/intense berry munching ! .. what a bonus. To paraphrase Heraclitus, one never steps on the same trail twice.

      You’ll enjoy this hike! All of your senses will be refreshed and entertained. I used a combination of iPhone 7, Canon Vixia camcorder, and GoPro 5. Trekking poles are a benefit, especially on the way down to take some of the shock off of your knees. If possible, choose a day with a clear forecast so those spectacular views won’t be hidden in the mist. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Is Mt LeConte an AT trail? Did you hike up and down the same trail? We go in September and plan to hike up Alum, stay the night and down Blvd.

    • @robertloewendick2419
      @robertloewendick2419 6 лет назад

      Patty Boyd We hiked up and back Alum Cave Trail. The Boulevard Trail is about a five-mile connecting trail leading from the lodge to the AT. You’ll need a shuttle to return you to your car at the Alum Cave trailhead, when you finish your hike as the AT meets Newfound Gap Rd. Enjoy your hike! We’ll be hiking the Smokies in October - video forthcoming 😊

    Do all the trails that lead to LeConte have those narrow walkways that are on the side of a cliff?

    • @adventuresfound7797
      @adventuresfound7797  6 лет назад

      Yes, but there are hand-hold cables anchored to provide safe passage. I’ve heard many hikers of these trails, that have a fear of heights, weren’t bothered by these cliff walks. Their focus was on the beauty and adventure. You’ll do fine. Enjoy your hike!

    Does anyone that has done this hike before think someone 7 months pregnant would be able to do this hike? I am an experienced hiker but I'm just worried it'll be too hard now that I'm pregnant...

    • @adventuresfound7797
      @adventuresfound7797  5 лет назад

      Well, I've never been pregnant, but my wife has, so I asked her. She recommends that you don't (and I agree) make the hike up to LeConte while pregnant. Especially if you're currently seven months along, as the trail presents extra challenges of winter hiking of icy trails and bone-chilling winds and temps. Even if your seventh month is several months away, the trail (Alum Cave Trail) still leads away from any roadway which would make emergency assistance a couple hours from reaching you if you experienced trouble. Save this hike for when your child is eight years or so, for an exciting, family adventure! Congrats on your expanding family!

    How difficult is after Alums cave, I've made it that far before but it was an extreme challenge for me I get constantly out of breath and have to stop so much. We have reservations this Sept for the lodge and I am so nervous that I wont be able to make it.

    • @adventuresfound7797
      @adventuresfound7797  5 лет назад +2

      The next mile and a half or so, from the bluffs, continues to climb. Then the trail levels out some and offers a less-demanding walk. I’m confident you’ll make it just fine. Take your time and use trekking poles for support. Using poles on inclines spreads the work out to the entire body, as no poles puts most of the work on the legs - quicker to exhaustion. Do a few short hikes now with your trekking poles in prep for your September trip. Enjoy your adventure! And thanks for watching!
