It is INEXCUSABLE that you guys don't have a show on PBS or Netflix or Discovery Channel or something!!! The product you're creating is SO much better than 95 percent of what's being aired. We should start a petition to make that happen!
the Alum Caves trail up to Le Conte was my grandfather's favorite hike. He'd hike it up, have a snack while looking at the view, and then right back down the same day. The last time he hiked it was on his 89th birthday. He so badly wanted to make it on his 90th, but sadly he was too ill at that point. If he were alive today he'd be over 100, and I'm sure he'd still be talking about wanting to get back on this trail; it was his absolute favorite place to be.
Agreed, and the occasional “scratch” makes me smile. Love the passion these young men have for hiking, the wildlife, and the rules of the trail is inspiring. I’m 66 now and have a sketchy knee, but hiking on the weekends has blessed my health and psyche. Thank you gentlemen and keep at it!
You guys really “get” it! I’m a 65 year old woman living in an apartment in San Diego. I find small hikes i can go on around here, but nothing will ever compare to times hiking in the Appalachian when I was young. So beautiful!
These guys have the best cinematography and content in the hiking community. All of these episodes accentuate what being outside is truly about. As huge fan of Henry David Thoreau myself, it's really a treat to hear AA quote him. These videos serve to inspire people to get outside and you're doing a great job!
Thank you so much for the professionally crafted videos of unbelievable locations. As a disabled war vet and former hiker I appreciate being able to see the things I used to enjoy. Outstanding!!
I couldn't Curb My Enthusiasm for this one! 😁 Loved how you captured those spectacular vistas! That Patron scroll keeps getting longer and the shout outs more hilarious! 👌🤣 Well done guys! 👏👍
Guys thank you! ;___; I could literally cry right now because I am so happy. Life sucked and still does for the last couple of years and your videos really bring joy into my life each time. I watched most of your videos a couple of times already at least each one once ^^. Your videos are my most favorite ones on YT and at least my way to enjoy nature if I can't enjoy it directly right now as much as I would like to. Thank you for doing what you are doing. I guess I am not only talking for myself but what you do is special to so many of us. Keep up the amazing work. Cheers from Vienna~
Loved that first Smoky Mountain video I watched so much I had to see this one! Actually quit watching a TV show to watch this video glad I did. Definitely wasn't disappointed! We hiked alum cave trail to Mount LeConte during peak season one time and we got extremely lucky no one was on trail one of the best hikes we've ever did! Thank you for doing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Justice with this video!
I used to backpack with my young family and solo in the Smokies a lot. Mt LeConte Lodge is a special treat. We overnighted there to make it easier to pack in our 7 month old daughter. I have many bear encounter stories from the backcountry trips. And red squirrel stories.
I thru-hiked the AT 20 years ago (southbound - not as crowded). Now, among my short, infrequent backpacking trips, I watch you guys. You’re right. Don’t compare yourself to other hikers. What you’re doing is hiking and making beautiful movies with choreographed music. Great stuff!
There is a comfortable nostalgia that these videos have. I used to camp with friends in high school and it felt the same as these trips. Making coffee, hiking, goofing around, going pantless, these videos take me back to those trips.
Rewatching this again. I love the scene on the porch front where Andrew and Thomas are waxing philosophic and Bryan exclaims, "I got that orange drank!" Pretty sure that should be your next T-shirt.
Wow!! I’ve done this hike probably a dozen times but I have never seen it on video the way you guys have captured it. BEAUTIFUL! The smokies temps change like that year round. Awesome trip. Thanks for sharing!!!
Odds are that trap is for feral hogs, they are quite the nuisance in the Smokies! We were just down there a few weeks ago, our cabin overlooked Mt. Leconte, amazing views and an amazing park!
I found a girl there in the mid point of the last century. She was wonderful. Western NC. What she was ever glorious.. What a creature what a girl, she could do anything she set her mind to. It was like the Lord had decide to hide the world's best female in those mountains. 60 years married was more than worth it.
As a local, the Alum Cave to Mt Leconte hike is probably my favorite day hike in the world. I also highly recommend the Hughes Gap to 19e hike at Roan Mountain if you guys get back down this way! That’s an overnighter.
Scientists say that millions or more years ago the Smoky Mountains used to be higher then the Rocky Mountains are now. Time and erosion have weathered them down. Your videos and also your attitudes about life in general are delightful, and I'm thrilled that you share them along with the wonderful scenery of your hikes. Wishing you thousands more miles of enjoyable hikes and I'm looking forward to seeing each mile of them.
Love the shout outs almost as much as I love the post hike meal. The best is that the 4 of you are hiking again and taking us along! Excited for the next hike!
You guys find the beauty in everything no matter where you are. Last year I moved from Los Angeles to Northeastern Pennsylvania and have been super bummed missing the high elevation mountains out west. But watching your videos is so inspiring. It really lifts my spirits. The plant ID is so helpful. Thank you so much making these great videos. :)
The Smokies are amazing. I love the mountains out west they have the "wow" factor, but the smokies are amazing in their own right. You just have to hike through them to know what I mean.
One of my favourite episodes. Your channel is so relaxing and so calm. Especially this episode. Its just brought me back almost 10 years ago. I went up there but different trail. One of my favourite place on earth. I will be back again. By the way 👋 Hello from Thailand 🇹🇭 💕
Glad to see another one of your videos. Its been hard for many of us not getting out as often due to the pandemic. So watching yours helps a lot. Great video, filming, music and editing as always. Keep safe!
I hiked Alum Cave to Leconte 2 weeks ago. It was a beautiful first trip to the summit. I'll be going back this Saturday for a 15 mile up and down day hike. I am so glad to have found this channel. It is rapidly becoming clear to me that I'm only happiest on the trails. Luckily I'm blessed to live in the foothills of the GSMNP so maybe some day I'll see you all out there. Stay safe friends!
You guys are the best, great Smoky Mountains show. The four of you rock with the short skits you do at the end, excellent comedy. This one was no exception!
Sooo this is my first ever RUclips comment on any video, and I figured that if I’m going to finally get off my butt and start letting the content creators I regularly watch know that I value their content, I’d start with you guys. What started as “find something relaxing and boring to fall asleep to” turned into “this is much too captivating, now I must watch the entire thing” very early on. And here we are years later, still constantly checking to see when the newest video will be released. You guys are so relatable and great at what you do. You’ve inspired me to start creating my own content because I don’t see enough people that look like me creating the kind of content I like to watch. Just wanted to say thanks for doing what you’re doing in the way you’re doing it. You guys are awesome.
Did LaConte Lodge in '04 and '08. Great memories. Hiked Trillium with my 71-year-old mom and my husband when I was 18 weeks pregnant. Best memories. Thanks, y'all
A new day! You add the magic to the already magical great Smokey mountains. So entertaining. Thank you for the laughs the great Smokey mountains never disappoint
The sunrise sequence was breathtaking, the music really added so much magic to those incredible views. In these times of not easily being able to go on our own adventures thank you so much for taking us along on yours.
Man I know you guys hear it all the time but your videography is impeccable. You guys always have a great message a long with it too. Thanks for the content
Just found your vlogs. As a serious hiker/backpacker back in the 70s and 80s all over the Sierras (yeah, I'm old) I Absolutely love your locations, filming, narrating and music. Very professional and clever! One request, could Andrew and Robby bring back your ponytails please?? Thanks guys for the entertainment :-)
@@NosyHausfrau I still hike, but nothing like my younger backpacking years. Being out in nature is addictive and is my Zen. It is such a pleasure finding Adventure Archives. These guys are so inspirational. Especially love Andrew's pauses on botany education. These guys are brilliant in every way. Keep walking Kerry!
Seeing you the 4 of you together bring warm feelings to my heart. It reminds me and makes me miss my friends and the way we camped and traveled like this!
My fiancée and I literally just hiked this trail 2 weeks ago. So cool seeing it show up in a far more cinematic form than what I was able to recreate with my camera, lol.
Just thru hiked the AT in 2020 and you guys gave us the ULTIMATE nostalgia. Thank you for capturing some of the most beautiful mountains in the entire world. Our souls will live and die in Southern Appalachia.
Hey guys. Im an old man that really enjoyed your experience. Each of you are cool customers. You have the right idea. Continue the journey. One day the journey ends!!
Seeing the thru hiker bubble at the shelter made me nostalgic and reminded me of my attempted thru hike I did ten years ago. I stayed at that same shelter around the same time of year and had the exact same kind of weather until the next day... My hiking buddy and I got an early start in the rain. By the time we reached Charlie’s Bunion the rain turned to sleet and by the time lunch rolled around the sleet turned into white out snowy conditions. It was getting dangerous so we stopped at Cosby Knob Shelter, short of our desired destination, around 2pm. We were the only hikers at the shelter and we both passed out from exhaustion until around 6pm when we were awakened by a folksy guy smoking a pipe, playing a wonderful original song on his guitar. We looked around and the shelter was PACKED, nobody wanted to stay in a tent in those weather conditions, but we didn’t mind at all because nothing beats the camaraderie of thru hikers and that song on that guitar was the first music we had heard since the start of our hike a few weeks back (neither of us carried ipods and this was before smartphones). The next day we had learned that someone ahead of us on the trail had died overnight which humbled us even more than the snow did the previous day. Our spirits weren’t too dampened though because by the time we exited the official park boundaries and got to Standing Bear Hostel it was 70 degrees and the snow had all melted away. Talk about crazy weather! I saw the guitar player a few more times in the months following those few days and I always asked him to play that song he played on that snowy night in the shelter, and since I had no other music to listen to I memorized that song the best I could and would always sing it to myself while walking down the trail. Nowadays I play live acoustic music around town and I cover a version of that song the best I could remember it. Every time I play it I’m reminded of that magical time I had on the trail, specifically that snowy night in the Smokies. Thank you guitar playing guy wherever you are. I think your trail name was “Red Beard” or something. My trail name was “Gump” if any of you 2011 people see this and remember me.
Have stayed @ the lodge 20+ times & it never gets old. I took my 2 girls to the lodge many times as they were growing up. You have to get off the paved road to appreciate the Smoky Mountains and to see the wonders that God created. Thanks for the video, it brought back many wonderful memories.
Thomas and I are quite the same in terms of pacing when doing outdoor activities. When I am in the zone during cycling I just can't stop pedaling and sometimes I leave my group behind and I always try to explain to them that I am not show boating I just feel so good that stride longer and faster.
I did this hike to Mt. Le Conte in 2019 but I started on the other side by rainbow falls. I have to say Cliff Tops was my favorite part. Your sunset and sunrise videos were also my favorite part! Those are my all time favorite moments to experience on a camp trip. I also did the Alum Cave bluff hike that was pretty spectacular as well. Thanks for sharing your funny and inspirational moments. I especially love your shout outs at the end! They get more and more hilarious!
I am in a group that hikes up to the Mt. LeConte Lodge every August. You made the right choice hiking Boulevard in and Alum Cave down. I guess I'm one of the "old people" you referenced hiking up Alum Cave. The Lodge is a unique place and the beauty of Mt LeConte is a site to behold! Thanks for sharing!
My pack weighs 14 lbs with fishing gear and 4 days food. I love this video. Didn't see any signs of mice in icewater springs. This was first shelter ever. My son always builds a fire even in heavy rain. Lots of work and light headedness.
It was great seeing you guys hike together again - your personalities go so well together. I've been away too long from your videos. Beautiful scenery! I was shocked that Andrew (THE fire master) didn't start a fire for warmth during the cold night spent in the shelter. The 5 or 6 epilogues of this video were hilarious! Keep up the good work.
Awesome video! I like how y’all broke the trails into doable sections where you aren’t exhausted when you get to the point you are staying the night and have some energy left.
It can be so tough to get up and out of your warm sleeping bag but 10 times out of 10 it's worth it for that sunrise 😍 and why is no one talking about that amazing outro bit LOL love it
Hey guys great job with the video. I thru hiked the AT last year and really enjoyed the Smokies and all the views and plant life. Thanks so much for the plant identification. I did enjoy eating some ramps along the way. I'll be back in the Smokies again this year at Mount Le Conte Lodge!!!
Thomas makes Andrew the best cup of coffee you can have on the trail, fresh ground beans and run through an Aero Press, and Andrew is like, "It's good." Like, it is just a little better than instant. I have seen Andrew drink fungus tea and say "It's good" with as much enthusiasm. I no longer trust Andrew's taste buds, lol. I enjoy the ritual of making a fine cup of coffee too Thomas. Next time maybe try BRCC Just Black coffee. If Andrew does not groan with pleasure with that cup, he has been replaced by an alien and you must find and rescue the real Andrew.
I stopped using the Areo press because it is so hard to press!!! And you have to use good beans to begin with! Also, I see Thomas is a good friend of Andrew but I have Never seen Him as one of the Boy's!!!
The beans looked shit, if you have fancy tools and shitty beans then you'll have shitty coffee, it's all about the beans, hence why Andrew probably didn't enjoy it as much. Get some bomb beans first if you're going to go through that much trouble.
So I caught this live, after not seeing one of your videos in probably over a year. And now upon rewatching, I realize that I joined right at the beginning of the shoutout section at the end - and that is why I was confused. Excellent.
In the video, the scenery of the forest and trees is beautiful and can also tell what kind of mountain climb and how to live in a mountainous area with very little food
It is INEXCUSABLE that you guys don't have a show on PBS or Netflix or Discovery Channel or something!!! The product you're creating is SO much better than 95 percent of what's being aired. We should start a petition to make that happen!

Hearing Andrew say nostalgic is becoming quite nostalgic.
I've hiked to the summit of LeConte 19 times. There's something very special about that mountain.

Is that your recommendation for an "older" couple?
Great Job, men!
The conditions were much better than the previous Smokies trip.
Definitely!
Such an awesome hike. My first trip to the top was at 5 years old.
I'm 58. Time to get back on that trail.❤️🏞️
I enjoy watching your videos so much! You guys are always so much fun to watch on your great treks!
My pack weighs 14 lbs with fishing gear and 4 days food. I love this video. Didn't see any signs of mice in icewater springs. This was first shelter ever. My son always builds a fire even in heavy rain. Lots of work and light headedness.
So pretty. So much work. Thank you for your videos !
The music in this episode is my favorite
the views of the sunrise ever the mountains was beautiful.
The views of the sunrise over the mountains was stunningly beautiful 🫶🏻
Your videos keep getting better and better. Thanks for taking me with you on your journey. You guys are a great.
The same day this video was posted I hiked the same trail myself! It’s beautiful!
Another great video! I really appreciate the reflecting and deep thoughts the guys share whenever they are out on an adventure!
One of my favorite Smoky mountain hikes I’ve ever done! Loved reliving it with you!
LOL your comment perfectly described the look on Thomas’ face when Andrew said “It’s good….It’s goood”
I stopped using the Areo press because it is so hard to press!!! And you have to use good beans to begin with!
Also, I see Thomas is a good friend of Andrew but I have Never seen
Him as one of the Boy's!!!
