Ajanta and Ellora are contributions of Rashtrakutas who were also Kannada rulers.

This force was called "Karnata Bala" (Basically 'Army of Karnataka'), it was feared in the rest of ancient India. Infact, their descendants gave the first resistance to Islamic forces and shewed them away from the coast of Gujarat. Great Chalukyas, they were extremely rich and powerful!

Yes, it was chalukya king Vikramaditya ll who resisted Arabic invasion in Kathiawad (southern Gujarat). He also said to have had overrunned Kanchi(pallava capital) and defeated pallava king Nandirman ll. But unlike the previous chalukya kings, he withdrawn from Kanchi. without destroying it.He ended the Pallava supremacy in the south.

@ThakurRaaj lol you say same about rashtrakutas, now chalukyas too. Anyhow chalukyas, rashtrakutas, vijayanagara (Karnata Empire), kadambas, Mysore all considered themselves as a kannada Empire. They immensely contributed to the development of language.
@ThakurRaaj that's the thing I'm trying to tell you. It doesn't matter what their caste is or where they come from. Many people from outside came to Karnataka and contributed to its language. Konakanis , Tamilians, Telugu people , Tulu people, Marathi people ,even English man (Ferdinand Kittel) Many more, have contributed to Kannada Language. Doesn't matter what they speak in home but when it comes to Karnataka and Kannada they'll fight in the first line. They all consider themselves as Kannadigas. That is the beauty of this land. Half of jnanapeeth award winners from Karnataka have other mother tongue. Chalukyas, rashtrakutas their official language was Kannada. Kannada literature got glory at that time. They considered themselves as Kannadigas.

I'm amazed that there were so many dynasties ruling different regions of southern and central India. That win of Pulkeshin over Harshvardhan was a daring feat of Chalukyas. Both were great emperors in the 6th century AD.

the first ever isla-mi-c invasion occured in 636 AD (4 years after the death of Prophet). Rashudin Caliphate's Caliph, Umar (closest disciple of Prophet) send a naval armada to Thane to invade India.
back then, Maharsatra & Southern Gujarat was governed by Kannada Badami Chalukyas.
Pulekeshin 2 defeated & DESTROYED Arab navy in a naval battle near Thane. He & Kannadigas repulsed the FIRST EVER IS-LA-MIC invasion to India in 636 AD.
this is his greatest feat.

Can you imagine a dynasty which had it's capital in interiors of southern India in Badami, went to on to establish it's influence till Gujarat coast and even defeated first wave of Arabian invaders. It's really fascinating. We also need to realise that all these dynasties and kings had only one thing on their mind - expansion of their kingdom. Looting of enemy territory was part of medieval time warfare tactics. It didn't matter where they came from and what their religion was. It is our foolishness if we try to lace these events with current political climate.

Its "Puli"+"Keshi"="Pulikeshi". Puli in old Kannada means tiger and Keshi in Sanskrit means hair. It's not "Pulakeshin".

Rastrakutas, Chalukyas and Vijaynagara empires were some of greatest of Karnataka, yet no movie or series is done on them. Shame on kaccha kucdha dichha and their third grade fans, never care about all this. Karnataka is so rich and powerful in diversity yet no content is written on them. Most these are from North Karnataka but today if u see the region barely given any importance. These were great empires who fought for Kannada and Santana Dharma ...
That's why i only watch movies from 60s to early 2000s. i dont watch modern kannada movies from 2005 onwards. No story, only build ups and cringe action scenes.
at least during Rajkumar period, we got amazing movies like Immadi Pulekeshi, Mayuravarma & Krishnadeva raya etc. and during those days, movies didnt have any build ups, overacting, over reacting, cringe dialogues etc.
and Darshan, Kiccha have the worst fan base ever.....

I think you should also devote a few minutes to describe the architecture and sculptures. Badami Chalukyas have left behind quite a heritage.

Great informative episode about chalukya dynasty and its great king pulkeshin II whose mighty army also repelled 1st arab army attack on the western coast at thane in 636 AD 💫
Although the Chalukya dynasty was overthrown by the Rashtrakutas in 753 AD, two centuries later, the descendants of the earlier Chalukyas returned and supplanted the Rashtrakutas under Tailapa (formerly served as a vassal to the Rashtrakuta king Krishna III), who established what became known as the Kalyani (Western) Chalukya dynasty. The Eastern Chalukyas (Vengi Chalukyas) on the other hand formed alliances with the Cholas (old rivals of Chalukyas) which led to conflicts between the Western and Eastern Chalukya dynasties (the conflict was over the control of the strategically important Vengi country, which was controlled by the Eastern Chalukyas that is). Although, the Chalukyas were of Kannada origin, the Eastern Chalukya's later patronised and adopted Telugu (alongside Sanskrit as a ritual language). The Western Chalukya's were overthrown by the Yadava dynasty (Yadavas of Devagiri) by 1200 AD, while the Eastern Chalukyas were annexed by Chola King Rajaraja II in 1189 AD.
Yadavas were Kannadigas as well. It's only by the end of their rule they switched to Marathi to differentiate them from Hoysalas who were of same clan.

the first ever isla-mi-c invasion occured in 636 AD (4 years after the death of the Prophet). Rashudin Caliphate's Caliph, Umar (closest disciple of Prophet) send a naval armada to Thane to invade India.
back then, Maharsatra & Southern Gujarat was governed by Kannada Badami Chalukyas.
Pulekeshin 2 defeated & DESTROYED Arab navy in a naval battle near Thane. He & Kannadigas repulsed the FIRST EVER IS-LA-MIC invasion to India in 636 AD.
He Joined Bappa Rawal ( Kaal Bhoj ) Emperor Lalitadity Muktapith ( Kashmir ) To Fight With Arab Invasion ✌️

@Rajnasya you are denieng Prithwiraj raso, An authentic text of Rajaputs, in that Chulonki and other four Rajaput originated from agnikunda. And Chulonki kings them selves told in different historical texts written by Jain's that they are different from Chalukya of Karnataka. Chulonki kings themselves made clear, you can go back to history and destroy Prithwiraj Raso text and then claim.
