1:03:20 I wonder what would've happened if Craig had waited until after Rachel declares her attackers to use his Teferi's Protection. Would it have saved Jimmy and Josh just enough to take her out?

I think game knights is the most viewer friendly commander gameplay series on RUclips. Not too fast paced, they explain the cards, and they explain their reasoning for their choices.
The main reason why I don't watch Magic tournaments is because they usually don't zoom into the cards like this channel does, so I can't read what they do. If I actually wanted to follow, I'd have to hear the name of the card, pause the video to look it up, then remember what all of the cards are. It is so much easier following the game on this channel.
Love seeing Rachel maneuver a board state each turn. Definitely some moments and choices that could have changed everything but sometimes you got to take the risk.
Wowie zowie, this was an AMAZING game! It was interactable and tense the entire time, there were tons of crazy cool plays and you never knew how a boardstate was gonna resolve until it was over. And the poison counters honestly were a huge boost to the stakes, even when Rachel had a huge lead it was impossible to say for sure if she could keep it because she was so close to getting poisoned to death. What an incredible episode.
I don't think I have told you guys yet: Adding Racheal to the team is amazing. She is one of my favorite MTG personalities. Right ahead of Jimmy, and right behind Josh. 😛
I think Jimmy might have been able to save the game by targeting Elesh Norn with Planar Incision. It gets returned under it's owner's control (so Josh) and all of Rachel's creatures get -2/-2.
That wouldn't have helped Jimmy though because then he'd be trading one threat with high poison he had a shot of taking out with proliferate, with another threat with an even larger value engine and very little poison. And Elesh Norn would've still been there turning off his board.
@@gfkxj123 Yeah, I misremembered the turn this was referring to and agreed. 1 turn better than 0. Though I'm not sure even that would have saved him as Rachel seemed to still have more mana available and would have just dumped more into Mirror entity's ability for a higher base to make up for the damage and her commander would have been hitting him for at least 7 which is all he needed to die. It would have saved Josh though. He also probably should have let Josh draw off Esper Sentinel, haha.
Another thing was Craig phasing out before Rachael declared blockers. If he'd waited to cast the Teferi's protection until after she had declared attackers and all of those damage shenanigans had resolved, he might have spared some damage towards Jimmy or Josh, and then had a friend to help against Rachael.
The Fact or Fiction at 41 was correct, I think. Even with the incoming Elesh, the value train is going too fast to feed into it. Josh was too far ahead to look like the good guy/hero.
Yup, it was entirely Josh's fault for the decision he made, can't pass the blame around when you make the choice. Only real exception would be if you are mana screwed and they put the answer in the pile WITHOUT your land.
Agreed. For 1 Josh still could've chosen it, and for two, Craig (wh he gave the split to) wasn't at that point as concerned with Elesh Norn specifically due to the toughness of his creatures, especially on Rachel's board vs Josh's who was spitting out tokens.
This has to be one of my favorites. The game was so swingy at so many times. The production side of things on this episode was amazing. Great job guys!!
Thank you so much for the flashing light warning. As a magic player with a seizure condition, these are seriously important and are truly appreciated. I will seek out a different Game Knights video. Thanks again!
lol, to be fair, as far as Jimmy knew Josh was really going to just save himself and whereas Rachel had high poison with seemingly no way to stop herself from being proliferated upon, Josh as a threat would have just been insurmountable for Jimmy as behind as he was.
Thats a really weird way to look at the threat assessment. Rachel goes unchecked -> the already incredibly ahead Josh gets reduced in power Josh stops Rachel from getting Elish Norn -> the already incredibly ahead Josh continues to accelerate in terms of board state. Jimmy tried to remove the one piece of the board state from Josh that would possibly prevent him from snowballing uncontrolled while already very behind due to multiple board wipe effects.
@@WeebsUnite I don't think that's the case really. Craig targeted her pretty early and she suffered from a few global things. Josh is actually the one they left alone long enough to set up.
One of these days Josh needs to play a life gain deck for the sole purpose of being able to afford all the life he likes to pay to his own cards. It would be terrifying!
Best turn of the game!!! Heliod: "I bring a dawn that no night can follow."... followed by: Elesh Norn "It is as if this world has been expecting our blessings." Too bad JLK didn't expect it!
Haven’t seen Game Knights in a while. The effects are so amazing now! I absolutely loved seeing Josh’s artifacts walk out of his graveyard after that Dance of the Manse.
The biggest mistake Josh made was, 41:38 His Black Market Connections created a Shapeshifter (this should have triggered) a creation of a Myr Token as it has every creature type. Later on 50:35 He would have had enough Mana for his Commander ability.
that token wasn't cast, it was created. if it worked like you say it would trigger when it makes a myr token itself. no he doesn't have the mana, like he explains earlier that turn he needed to have haste so he could tap his myr 48:00 at 49:36 he even says he only has 4 mana so he cant activate his commander.
That Chiss-Goria deck performed really well. I think he’s a lot better than people are giving him credit for. Being able to dig 5 cards deep to cast any artifact each turn, including the turn he comes in, seems really powerful. And only costs 3 red to cast lol. Creating the treasures was a good idea to really up the affinity.
The animation from when Dance of the Manse was played was fantastic! I loved the reference to Fantasia with the song that was playing in the background while the cards marched across the screen.
As I'm watching this episode, I got CHILLS when that metal guitar riff kicked in when Josh played Alibou. The production value in Game Knights is beyond insane. I love you all so so much
this game was a blast! really fun one, really flavourfull, loved how Jimmy was looking at Mr.Infect hand at the end like "can you do something? let's think together"
Man, another game where Jimmy's plan gets screwed and far behind. I love seeing when he can go off! It's so rare because he has such bad luck, and either never seems to draw enough removal or his board gets wiped too many times (as happened in this game)
I haven't watched this in a while but the production value is ridiculous! You guys really upgraded & it's amazing! Seeing Ixhel fly out of that spire was wonderful😅
Haven't finished the episode yet but when jimmy cast planar incision i would have thought that targeting Elisha norn would be the play. It flickers out comes back in and goes onto Josh's board. Killing off all the shooters and weakening the dragon pointed at him. Am I missing something else that would make Jimmy's play better?
I don’t think it would be possible for Jimmy to survive either way. Rachel could use Mirror Entity’s pump in response for lethal damage. Now I think it might’ve saved Josh, but she could still goblin welder to stop Heliod’s Intervention (the symbol of his church)
@jan Melantu So here's what I see, Elish norn, face breaker and Chiss are all pointed at jimmy. Face breaker was converted to an 8/8 (base 6/6 plus 2 from Elish), Chiss is a 10/10(6/6 plus 2 from Elish and 2 from the sword) and Elish is a 6/6. By bouncing the Elish the face breaker would drop to a 4/4 (base 6/6 minus 2 from Elish), and Chiss would drop to a 6/6 ( base 6/6 plus 2 from sword minus 2 from Elish). So jimmy would have taken 10 leaving him at 4, but Josh would have been dead anyways. All 4 thopters would still hang around and be 4/4s for a total damage of 12 dealing more than Josh's 10hp.
Rachel hadn’t pumped her board with Mirror Entity when Jimmy flickered Chiss. It didn’t matter who Jimmy flickered. Rachel had thirteen mana untapped, meaning she could have made her board base 13/13. If Jimmy had flickered Norn, Rachel can still kill him by making Chiss a 9/9. Chiss would have 7 power be of Norn, which would be lethal commander damage to him. That also wouldn’t have saved Josh. Jimmy made the right choice, because he knew Josh would do something, and Josh is far more likely to deal with Norn than Chiss, so he had to deal with Chiss, but Jimmy knew that unless Josh did something, he would die either way.
@@uziboozy4540 If Jimmy didn't save Rachel, Josh's board would've been just as overwhelming and harder to deal with once pumped. What he could've done was to make a deal with Rachel to leave him alone for a turn at least.
Skrelv turn one is always a funny thing to see because if he’s the commander, Skrelv can give Commander Damage, Poison and regular damage. Also he’s cute little legendary mite
Rachel is one hell of a personality and and awesome player! Such great deckbuilding and optimal gameplay from her! You guys for sure did not increase your winrate stats by bringing her on board, but we love you for doing so!

Loved the episode! Was a little bummed Josh cheated and cast that creature @47:39 during combat as he CLEARLY stated he is moving to combat @43:48 to which Ratchel cast that warp.
Calm down with your cheating call. Depending how you play if you say moving to combat and someone does something that means you stay in the mainphase because you do it when priority gets passed to you in the main phase, if you want to do it in combat you should do it in response to someone saying move to attackers. But doesn't matter anyways since he has a creature that gives flash. Don't call for cheating when someone messes up, you assume it's intentional but you don't know that.
@@helderboymh Heya, not sure how to calm down from a comment. I am pretty calm. Been a while, what creature is giving flash? Also, you are assuming I assume it is intentional which as someone who has been watching game knights for a few years now and knows Josh as well as one could over videos, I am 100% positive he is someone who doesn't cheat intentionally. Like ever. So no, never assumed that. I looked this up as you make an interesting point and from what I see, you are correct in that the pre-combat main phase doesn't end until all players pass priority: 505.2 The main phase has no steps, so a main phase ends when all players pass in succession while the stack is empty. (See rule 500.2.) So Josh would've been in his main phase and is totally correct to cast creatures! Edit: The Shimmer Myr is giving flash!
@@TheTriforcekeeper cheating is always intentional, if it's not intentional it isn't cheating, it's a mistake. So if something someone does is called cheating its therefore also saying they did it intentionally. that's why I said that at the start and at the end there :). But I see now that wasn't your intention. Thank you for the kind comment that looking up the rules showed that my information was correct.

2 Phyrexian episodes in a row and Mr. Infect is back... nice
Rachel certainly knows what plays to make at the right times! Great game everyone.
This has to be one of my favorites. The game was so swingy at so many times. The production side of things on this episode was amazing. Great job guys!!
I love going on my lunch and being treated to a perfectly timed Game Knights to watch.
Damn how long is your lunch break? 😂
@@tyleryoakum8350 only 30 minutes. Lol. Not enough time to watch the whole video, but as soon as a took my lunch they posted.
Thank you so much for the flashing light warning. As a magic player with a seizure condition, these are seriously important and are truly appreciated. I will seek out a different Game Knights video. Thanks again!
the flashing is between 6.28 and 6.53 after that you are safe!
@@barryanagrande1830 Are you serious?? You did this for me?!?! This is just unbelievably kind. Thank you so very much
Favorite part was when Josh tried to save Jimmy and Craig from Rachel and Jimmy successfully stopped it!
Yeah it was really quite the play 🤣 worked out well for him, huh
tbf josh's board was getting out of hand and rachel happened to hit portal to phyrexia to deal with craig and jimmy at the same time.
lol, to be fair, as far as Jimmy knew Josh was really going to just save himself and whereas Rachel had high poison with seemingly no way to stop herself from being proliferated upon, Josh as a threat would have just been insurmountable for Jimmy as behind as he was.
Thats a really weird way to look at the threat assessment. Rachel goes unchecked -> the already incredibly ahead Josh gets reduced in power
Josh stops Rachel from getting Elish Norn -> the already incredibly ahead Josh continues to accelerate in terms of board state.
Jimmy tried to remove the one piece of the board state from Josh that would possibly prevent him from snowballing uncontrolled while already very behind due to multiple board wipe effects.
believe me i think jimmy had no choice because if he didn't josh would have done it again of just running away with it.
Best episode yet really enjoyed the swings in this game, great editing, a lot of humour and wholesome friendships while playing commander! Bravo!
I love the production and the set design. Game Knights has really turned into it's own TV series really. It's so entertaining to watch
Bro the studio looks INSANE!!!! Well done!
If I see Rachel in the thumbnail, I know who is gonna win. I NEVER seen her lose. Absolute beast
She has lost once but yeah that's it so far
Because they always leave her alone for a majority of the episode.
@@WeebsUnite if jimmy’s and or Craig decks went faster then she would have probably been dead. Not sure tho
@@WeebsUnite I don't think that's the case really. Craig targeted her pretty early and she suffered from a few global things. Josh is actually the one they left alone long enough to set up.
@@TB317 they didn't leave him alone. He just kept blockers thanks to his instant speed interactions
One of these days Josh needs to play a life gain deck for the sole purpose of being able to afford all the life he likes to pay to his own cards. It would be terrifying!
The Dance of the Mance animation is probably the best one the channel has made up to date.
Best turn of the game!!! Heliod: "I bring a dawn that no night can follow."... followed by: Elesh Norn "It is as if this world has been expecting our blessings." Too bad JLK didn't expect it!
Good to see Game Knights turning into Archenemy: Josh Lee Kwai once again. Never gets old.
Ladee Danger literally brought the house down for this set design
Jimmy: i think josh can help me get an answer
Josh: wanna pay for the 2? or do i draw a card
Jimmy: yeah why not
Haven’t seen Game Knights in a while.
I love Rachel’s deck building and enthusiasm!! She’s awesome!
Provided you are able to get 6 artifacts into play, yeah. And there's definitely plenty of quick ways to get there so Chiss is really good.
Does affinity for artifacts also reduces the cost of other artifacts?
I was not expecting that Goblin Welder animation 😂
The animation from when Dance of the Manse was played was fantastic! I loved the reference to Fantasia with the song that was playing in the background while the cards marched across the screen.
The animation for the sword dude. Awesome as always!!
Absolutly loved the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" part!
As I'm watching this episode, I got CHILLS when that metal guitar riff kicked in when Josh played Alibou. The production value in Game Knights is beyond insane. I love you all so so much
Ok that opening sequence was AMAZING. More importantly I kinda need to know where Jimmy got that jacket from lol
this game was a blast! really fun one, really flavourfull, loved how Jimmy was looking at Mr.Infect hand at the end like "can you do something? let's think together"
This is one of my all time favorite Game Knights episodes. So glad Rachel is on the team!
It's wild that it turned into a 3v1 and it didn't matter at all. Rachel it's an absolute powerhouse.
Wouldn't really say 3v1 when Jimmy decides to stop Josh from killing Rachel
@@strokedout6298 kinda stupid ngl 😆
22:38 Ladee's Elesh Norn voice is like, 900% on point
Man, another game where Jimmy's plan gets screwed and far behind. I love seeing when he can go off! It's so rare because he has such bad luck, and either never seems to draw enough removal or his board gets wiped too many times (as happened in this game)
I just got into magic a month ago and discovered this page today. Instantly Subbed. Amazing content!
Jimmy shouldn't even have prevented Josh from killing Rachel to begin with
@@uziboozy4540 If Jimmy didn't save Rachel, Josh's board would've been just as overwhelming and harder to deal with once pumped.
Craig's "I thought we agreed not to play land destruction!" was such an underrated joke tbh
Every Game Knights seems to level up for each new video! The production, the gameplay!? I always look forward to Command Zone videos. Thank you for making the awesome videos Team Command Zone! 🙏
Rachel is quietly sneaking her way up becoming the player with the most wins on camera
Josh literally helped her on purpose so she did not get eliminated by craig at the beginning
I like how since Rachel has joined the cast she hardly ever losses a game 😂
idk kinda looks like she's been crying
Rachel is great. Love her decks.
Stumbled on this gem and saw jimmy Wong and after seeing vghs I knew this was going to be good
Loved the episode!
I looked this up as you make an interesting point and from what I see, you are correct in that the pre-combat main phase doesn't end until all players pass priority:
505.2 The main phase has no steps, so a main phase ends when all players pass in succession while the stack is empty. (See rule 500.2.)
So Josh would've been in his main phase and is totally correct to cast creatures!
I love how Craig was just playing mind games with them like “Do I have a pump spell? Maybe i do, maybe I don’t who knows
