I am so happy to drive an e-tron in warmer conditions. Today i need only 17,9 kWh/100 km…No downhill 😀 but very calm of course. Such a relaxing and comfortable car.
The Music "Bug" might be a feature. Usually in a VW there is a setting for max. Volume in Reverse, there may be a setting for min. Volume in Reverse ( or something similar) although ive never seen it and that would be pretty stupid to exist.
Incorrect. The reason why I have it on 22°C is because e-tron's HVAC is a bit stingy. It heats up about the same as Tesla or most other EVs at 21°C. By the way, my weight is about 75 kg. Maybe you live in USA where that is considered a small body?
@@bjornnyland when I drive my etron. I warm it up at 22C, but then as soon as I get in the etron I turn it to 17C. It significantly changes the range immediately
I was told that yes, the fat e-tron has no preconditioning when approaching a fast charger. Audi said, they decided tp program it as follows: once connected to an HPC charger, after 10mins it will reach the 150 kW charging power. They claim that a lot of the "first minutes power" is used for battery precontioning. Exactly as you observed it. But what I wanted to ask please whether you have ever tested: the manual says "no start below -30 degrees". Ok, now what shall one do apart from shifting 2,6tonnes into a heated garage? Here's my question: if you connect to the wallbox and pre-heat the car inside, does that bring also the thermal flow into the battery and warms it up above the -30deg? Is there any dependency with the option "strong heater" you can purchase for 300€ in addition when you order the car? SSP675 just states that the cooling/heating fluid circulates to battery and is also used inside the heater.
One may call it the fat e-tron, but I prefer to call it the nice one. The GT is way out of budget, so I compare it to the Q4. My personal choice would be to just pay a bit more for the proper e-tron than the Q4 which was such a disappointment in the interior. Pricewise the difference in leasing price between a Q4 45 and a 55 Quattro is is so low (around €50 a month).
Not a bug. It's a feature. Customized audio volume change at parking assist. But it is set way to high. go to the volume setting menu. you can also disable the feature.
Fat etron do not have nozzles? If I remember it has the sprayer in the wiperblade itself so no heating required. And the radar is not in de middle of the Audi rings its to the left of them in the grille. Dont know if the 2022 model has the lazer still but if it does its in the middle below the grille.
Is it only me or is the Audi infotainment the remains of an double DIN Pioneer car stereo like the millennium breathing Pioneer DMH-G221BT or the CD player MVH-290BT? :-D Feels oldschool anyway. A stark contrast against the exterior that is quite stunning imo.
A Lithium Titanat Battery will not Coldgate. They still work fine even in -22°C if I remember correct. Also the charging speed and low degradation with that type of battery is very good. Mitsubishi was using that chemistry in the iMiev. Unfortunately the energy density is not that great.
E-tron cannot heat up the battery when you have the AC on for the interior. To minimize coldgate and to ramp-up the charging speed you should’ve switched off the ignition and not put the AC on for interior. Do a re-test?
@@bjornnyland , yes. At least according to the Audi SelfStudyProgram (SSP something) that you can find on the internet. However, there are disclaimers that it does not cover all circumstances. But this is also my guess, that when the PTCs are heating the fluid in the system, the warm fluid either circulates to battery heat exchanger or to the interior heat exchanger.
Aha, so it's not based on your own tests. I will take that with a pinch of salt. Audi also claims that their cars preheats battery when navigating to fast charger. That is incorrect. Don't trust anything unless it has been verified by independent sources.

I love your real world Geilo cold weather tests. Great information.
Turn the internal temperature down from 22 to 17:) you will gain 20-35km.

Turn the HVAC completely off and you gain another 20-30 km but you freeze your ass off.

Hi Bjørn,
When do you plan to do all your regular tests with the Airways U5?
Br, Ionut
i probably wont be driving more than 100km per day anyway, and we should be getting better range in hot Bangkok ... avg 350 km should be sufficient
You activate the reversing camera cleaner every time you clean the rear window.
