I just remembered.. isn’t it crazy years ago we all knew this legend as turbo yoda, now he has his own successful channel. Time really is our friend people!
We've got no experience in drag racing. Humility equates to honesty, which I believe is a key part of the success of your channel. It's nice to hang around with nice blokes.
Good explainer, Commodore's and Falcons were the biggest selling Australian cars. Good on you for not roasting the Ecotec, they were a great engine, no matter what Ford Barra fans have to say about them.
Early models were called Carltons in the UK later models were Omegas usually 3.0L 12 or 24 valve straight six or 3.8L 24v twin turbo for the Lotus models.... and of course Monaros that were made in Stralia with various N/A and supercharged LS motors.
In Germany, as Opel Omegas, there were also various 4 Cylinders and in the second Gen Omegas there was the switch over to the 54° V6. The Lotus Omega had a 3.6L 24V Twin Turbo, still to this day the most powerfull and fastest Opel you could buy. Greetings from Germany :D
That's my brother in laws old car, he was so proud of it I remember was a manual initially running 10's then he got really serious with it, so cool it will live on, I always enjoyed his stories at Christmas catch ups what he was up to with it back in the day.
Spot on about the 3.8. A triumph of development over design. Started out as 3/4 of what would become the Rover V8, over the years they changed EVERYTHING. A mate wanted to swap back when they updated his repmobile from a 3.8 ecotec to a 3.0 alloytec. He was not a happy boy.
These were known as Omega, Carlton, Senator in Europe/UK. Getrag (260 for V6 and 290 for V8) manual gearboxes are only VS Series II onwards and are the same as boxes BMW used. The BMW logo is still on the main housing of the 260. Other differences were that the Opel/Vauxhalls ran IRS with toe control links and, weirdly, recirculating ball steering boxes. I've always wanted to create a Lotus Carlton replica from my VS!
BIGKEV!!!!! wooo hooo i was sad to see this legend disappear, so happy to see it reappear. I recognised it immediately. So happy to see you lads with it 😀
Yeahhh the VR! I mean, it's no turbo 5ltr... 😅 Look forward to seeing Al dish out some yabbie pumps when Woody tries to smooth the engine bay and re-tin the boot 🤣
Cant wait to see Kevin get thrown down the track, this is what I come here for! This build and car will be an epic series to follow. When Hoff does his thing with his cars, you get to see the whole challenge, as this will be.
Can't wait for the build series on this one. I loved watching it on Nugget Garage, will be cool to see it have a new life. Also rename it to whatever you want, but we all know his name is KEVIN.
In the us the 3.8/3800 motor was really good stock. Not a high reving thing but desent power and dumb reliable from my experience. Everyones mileage may vary.
Personally the VR/VS is my favourite commodore ever made. I kept the VS S pack I had on my P's as a long term project. Years later and many cars on she's still patiently waiting, I'll either build it into my dream car or take it to the grave with me!
The Suspension on the commodores aren't Opel either except the vq on irs. Front struts are different, the VB on used solid rear door Australia. Important details that I know Al knows, just not being covered.
my first real car was a VR Calis, I have a massive soft spot for that body shape and would love to get my hands on a clean one b4 the prices get to crazy
Given the "Opel"origins go the Lotus Omega route, 3 6 litre twin turbo DOHC 24v, 6 speed Corvette gearbox, VL Group A diff. Just remember the electric coolant pump to save head gaskets....
Kevin is Kevin. End of story. I've watched all the Nugget Garage episodes on it, and it's name is Kevin.
Kevin is a Daihatsu Kei truck in Poland.
It’s bad luck to rename a boat 😅
I agree!
Kevin will always be Kevin in our hearts even if he’s got a new heart
Kevin is a savage! Leave the name!!
Gotta stay with the classic, Kevin the Savage, you can't go back from a name that great
The Australians will remember the "Kevin 07" pitch, you gotta do a 7.9999 in this Kevin.
Oof! Could you imagine?!? 😍😍
@@TorqHub that'd be driving the doors off it, but I'd love to watch Kevin do that
More likely Kevin 11
Lets get Kevin Rudd doing the 7 second pass
They can dream
Great to see Kevin back.... I did wonder when and where he would turn up again 👌
I just remembered.. isn’t it crazy years ago we all knew this legend as turbo yoda, now he has his own successful channel.
Time really is our friend people!
For a bit of a shock, go rewatch his appearance on MCM.. His presentation and on camera skills have come so far it’s staggering..
So happy to see Kevin the Savage get another life with the skid factory.

KEVO LIVES! So excited for this build guys!
Big Kev for the win.... "I'm Excited!!!"
Kevo's a sicko!
That car will always be Kevin, it's the identity of the car :)
Always has and always will be Kevin.
Looking forward to the build 👌
Very excited for this. Can't wait to see you guys go on some drag and drive events. They're always a joy to watch.
Good explainer, Commodore's and Falcons were the biggest selling Australian cars. Good on you for not roasting the Ecotec, they were a great engine, no matter what Ford Barra fans have to say about them.
Forever Kevo! Should be a fun build guys!
My son has just two days ago bought his first car. Green VS commodore lol. He's defo gonna follow this build.

Carlton or senator
I was gonna say exactly that Carlton or senator

The Lotus Omega had a 3.6L 24V Twin Turbo, still to this day the most powerfull and fastest Opel you could buy.
Greetings from Germany :D
Omegas most commonly came with a 2.0 four cylinder engine here. Some 2.2 diesels and even some 2.5 inline six turbo diesel BMW engines
I had a 2.5 V6 Omega for a couple of months. It was seriously comfy but was slow AF. The noise was good though.
That's my brother in laws old car, he was so proud of it I remember was a manual initially running 10's then he got really serious with it, so cool it will live on, I always enjoyed his stories at Christmas catch ups what he was up to with it back in the day.
check my comment above Nate, small world lol
Kevo will always be Kevo! 👌🏻

Love it. I just hope you add a bit of color to it, Black is just boring and hard to distinguish on Drag & Drive videos.
Yep Kevin it stays good one boys I love commodores lookin forward to watching this

Kudos to the TSF, pumping out quality content and builds. Meanwhile I’m still waiting for parts to come to get that build of mine mod worthy….
BIGKEV!!!!! wooo hooo i was sad to see this legend disappear, so happy to see it reappear. I recognised it immediately. So happy to see you lads with it 😀
Hell Yeah !!!!!! Can't wait to follow this build as you go through all the awesome drag and drives. This is gonna be an epic car.
Call it Robert!!!!! Love the way this is heading guys!!!!
That Mazda still has a lot of cool bits on it, like the computer controlled suspension and the rust holes above the doors, that's unique as.
Cool. Thanks for the history lesson. Going to be a fun build.
You don't know how happy it makes me to see another person pronounce JZ as Jay Zed!!!
I remember this car from when I worked at Heathcote drags it was a weapon back then , will be good to see her up and running again
Yeahhh the VR! I mean, it's no turbo 5ltr... 😅

😂😂
Yabbie pump him unthis head comes off. 😂

Drag week 2023 🙏🏼 🙏🏼
Kevin is perfect. With some Chinese parts as he can speak good mandarin.
Never buy chinese garbage unless you wana buy junk multiple times and waste money
@@hyper8545 I've seen some very cheap Yin Yang Spinny Thangs do some crazy shit and be quite good, don't diss on Chinese parts! 😂
No just on the little bastards that make them!! 🙄🙄
Kev is a sickoooo. He’s got a big………. Turboooooo.
감사합니다

Excited for this build boys! Drag and drive looks like a lot of fun
No way. Can't believe a VR is making a feature. Just inherited one from my late in-laws grandparents. They are absolute weapons!
Score.
In a VR/VS sensational, great base, will go FAST!
Very nice details, thanks 👌 👍
You always add a lot of knowledge in your videos love it, top work mate as always.
Weapon of a mechanic
By the looks of things in the comments, he's Kevin. 👌 And I gotta say lad's, I agree 👍 💯 Can't wait for the build. Cheers 🍻
Kevin the Savage.. Can't wait to see Y'all make some hits in it!
That’s bloody Kevin!!! I couldn’t forget his face and those welds
Keen to see Benny chip in his knowledge on this one. Will be a hoot to watch it get built up.
Yess KEVOO
great opening scene
Yes Kev
Keep it as Kevin. The adventures of Kevin live on with the skid factory!
It’s always gunna be ‘Kevin the Savage’!
Forget Kev the Sicko, go save that Brumby! 0:27
Or is it a Jumbuck?
It’s a Brumby. Very early model.
Seeing Kevin again makes me miss Wendy. Bring big Ethel back too.
He is too busy being angry.
That’s a shame
Travelling the world bringing enlightenment to one comments troll at a time
So cool that this old girl is going to be registered again and getting used!
Love this, awesome work lads!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah that's right Murray, I hit you with the generic reply button. :D
@@theskidfactory I feel blessed 🙌
Jeeez, been a while since I've seen an MX-6 turbo! They were actually quick for what they were back in theee day.
2jz.
Alan’s favourite motor of the gods 😊
Kevin the Commodore should stay, that's a cool name! 😎
Awesome project, it's going to be great watching you both branch into drag racing including the drag and drive events 👍
Yes, as a Bogan VX SS driver I highly approve 👌
Drag Challenge here we come, top project
Yeah biggest we got in the uk was a 3.2 v6 local plod loved them.
I don’t know why but the dynamic of these two is just perfect
Kevin. it's always been Kevin, can't change it now
You should definitely do a series on building that turbo Mazda would be awesome to see the potential of that car unleashed!
This is a great idea , watching all of it for sure 👍👍👍
Kevin is always Kevin, Cant call it Karen, Thats the Name of Clays Barra VR we are currently doing lol
Is Kevin a Sicko or a Savage?
This looks like it’ll be interesting series looking forward to it
believe or not ,there was a SLR5000 in this vr vs shape, pretty sure they had walkinshaw wheels on as factory ,tip top channel best down under by far
Gonna love this build.
Kevs a siiiickO!
Has anyone ever told you about the vauxhall Opel of that shape with a turbocharged straight 6... lotus Carlton - what a thing it was
Big Rev Kev...
That v6 looks like a 3.8 that came in my Pontiac same as my girls Buick, beautiful engine, give a Toyota reliability a run for its money
They ran a 3.8 Buick (sometimes supercharged ) from 88/89 to the early 2000s
@James Doe now the LLT 3.6 or sidi engines are in Camaros and Cadillacs, and still in production
Can't wait for the build series on this one. I loved watching it on Nugget Garage, will be cool to see it have a new life. Also rename it to whatever you want, but we all know his name is KEVIN.
Go on Woody, get that Mazda!

the RB30 shows up in Europe in the Opel Senator in the late 80s early 90s. just saw one for sale the other day for around 10K.
The Suspension on the commodores aren't Opel either except the vq on irs. Front struts are different, the VB on used solid rear door Australia. Important details that I know Al knows, just not being covered.
Kev's back.
Kevo the sicko!
lookin forward for this build
Kevo the sicko ❤
Definitely Hector
This will be a good one. Name it Charlie.
The name shall remain, it's legacy must live on.
Wendy would be awesome as it a throw back to nugget garage....
Kevin 👌
Ps: I'll take the front bar 👍
This is great!!! An will b great content
my first real car was a VR Calis, I have a massive soft spot for that body shape and would love to get my hands on a clean one b4 the prices get to crazy
My dad had maroon VR acclaim about 14 years ago he called it the shuttle lol because he only really used it to get to work
Go the Jimny!!!! Build review on that nugget
Fun vid. I like the history lesson.
So excited

Great editing 👌
Once a Kevin, always a Kevin, let the legend of the savage live on!
I need a bunch of those Buick v6 manual trans, I can sell swap kits for the supercharged 3800's because here in the states they were all FWD
