There's something very special when the artist themselves teach us how to play one of their songs.
That is Love
Yeah Keane's member seem very grounded and good natured. They're awesome!
Amazing!
I thought so myself
Yes, they usually charge some fee for the score 😆 well, maybe not the artist but the publisher does.
Funny story: I was searching for someone to teach me this song. I saw a few versions but nobody played it without lyrics. I came across this version and forwarded the beginning and said “oh cool, this guy really knows how to play it and he is showing us just like the band LOL (to boot, he is exceptionally good looking and has a great accent). So naturally I went to subscribe in case he has other songs he is teaching and realized I am already a subscriber. So I looked at his name and said “wow” how did he get to use Keane as his name... I went back to the beginning and listened to him talk and realized who he was. Shocker...he is giving out his recipe??? I am so thankful for your generosity. You just doubled down on why you all are some of the best artists in the world today. Over here in the States they don’t give you the recognition you deserve. Love you guys and I feel blessed to be alive in your era. Thanks again Tim.

That chord progression is kind of "emotional" without the lyrics. Anyone else get the same feeling?
I was thinking the same thing. Very emotional ❤️ like a movie soundtrack or smt like that
Oh yeah
I could cry just listening to it
Let's karaoke 12:24 😀
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river, and it made me complete
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go?
So why don't we go?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know?

Beautiful Song a treasure my mom always listen This Song
My mom passed away 12 years Ago
I miss you my mom
Sorry
I did it 🤩
One of the greatest songs ever written in my books. This is brilliant Tim for you to share this in these desperate times. Wonderful. Thank you so much
Great stuff,Tim!🎼🎹👌
I love Tim's style of piano. So melodic and non classical. He makes piano stylish.
Thank you Tim! Everybody's Changing would be a good one next 😁
Yeeeeeeesss 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'd love him to explain how they created that amazing build up on the bridge of that song!
Disconnected :p
Try Again ❤️
X10^1000
Best thing that could ever happen on this quarantine 🥺💛
Don't even have a piano. Best believe I still watched the whole thing.
same XD
We're here just to appreciate his talent hahah
Same 😂
Me either😂
I came to say the same thing haha! I can listen to him speak for days!!
I don't even have a piano or have any idea of how to play, yet I watched the whole thing. It was so soothing. What about Silenced by the Night for the next one?
Yeeeees!!! Please
My favorite song ❤️👍🏻
Yess!
After watching this i can say i've been playing it about 70% right over the last 10 years or so. Tim is such a gifted and humble song-writer
Great to see that Tim is doing well - this was a brilliant idea and I hope this video is the first of many. I would be completely invested on a series of Tim teaching us how to play literally every Keane song (assuming he still remembers the likes of Untitled 2 for example!)
Agree!
+100000
This is one of the most beautiful and emotive chord progressions in all of music. We’re privileged to have the composer talk us through it. Thanks Tim.
Don't understand a word of what he's saying but I'm just so excited to see Tim. He is such a treat, I could stare at him all day. 💕💋💞🥰🎀
Same here 😁
That's creepy asf, lucky you're a girl. If only a guy said that, people would lose their shit
Hahaha, who are you? Mable Pines? 😁
I still remember when I was 16 and I asked to my music Teacher to taught me a song with a music sheet that I found on the Internet that it didn't sound the same. 17 years later, Tim sent me the gift.🥰

Thank you I was loving the tutorial but feeling a bit lost when trying to go back to certain parts
@@chicken5130 which part? Maybe I can help you to guide with the time stamp that you need to go back
@@empyo2008 oh not a specific one I just like skipping to whichever part I'm working on time stamps are in description too it seems but thanks!
@@chicken5130 yeap the description has the time stamps also but that one just need to wait for Tim's explanation hehe - btw, good luck!
@@empyo2008 thanks I'm pretty much done now
Mi Tim 😍😍 lo considero el Mozart de estos tiempos 💙💙💙
Wha..why would anyone dislike this?? This is the real deal! That's THE artist teaching us how to play their song, how many artists actually do that? Big respect for you Tim! You are amazing! ❤
I love it! Beautiful! I was to Keanes wonderful consert in Malmö this evening and now I just don't want to say goodbye just yet so I have to stay up and watch these things. Thank you for a wonderful time tonight❤
Thank you for being my hero. Thank you for this tutorial. #Respect to you Tim.
This was awesome Tim. I grew up tearing your songs apart to learn them and play them from memory - ended up majoring in music in college in part because of you guys. It’s very cathartic to have the man himself teach me the song that started it for me!
I actually think you are one of the most technical piano players . The subtle not and chord changes in every song are so subtle but recognisable . Great video
I am beyond thrilled to learn about this song and band and to have an intimate, dedicated video that explains the thought process behind and way to play such a lovely song.
I think I was perhaps sold a million times over when Tim said that Brian Wilson was inspiration, and the mention of Pet Sounds just made me feel so elated.
I can say that I’ve decided to pursue music and make that what I want to do in life after having listened to that album. It’s really fantastic, and to hear such a direct honoring of that album and the man behind it is just phenomenal.
At the very beginning I was thinking just ever so slightly the intro chord, the way that it’s played with the high A voicing, it made me think a bit of the intro to God Only Knows. The bit where Tim mentions voicing a chord with a bass note other than the root was good to hear too, and I would agree that there is definitely lots of uplifting movement in this song!
Thank you for posting this video. Beyond the connections I identified with, it’s just extremely cool to see firsthand how the masters of their crafts lay out what they did and where they had their minds going when creating art.
Tim, I think you can't imagine how much happiness it brings to see you explaining how to play a song I'm listening, singing and playing for years now, a song that only reflects a tiny part of all what Keane means for me and so much at the same time, your song. Just thank you, that's so pure and sweet. ♥
His eyes are amazing Like an Angel 🙏🤗❣️
What about his hands 💞?
Tod@s: profe me perdí !!! Tim: Donde ?

Tim: Pretty simple -Me: :C ... Watch again 0.25x speed
by the way ... I love how he seems nervous and so shy talking to the camera, and that smile, and his eyes, and his shaved beard... and playing the piano...
That's increíble. So few musicians do This stuff, and is very important for people like me, who are learning music... You re so nice with us. Thank You very much
This is the song that made me fall in love with playing the piano again. Thank you.
"Those who mock simplicity will always be conquered by it." Thank you for this tutorial.
The piano chords in this song is so perfect tbh
Tim, you say you are taking suggestions, can the next song be Nothing in my way or A bad dream? The piano of both of those songs kill me in a good way
I second that. A Bad Dream would be great.
A bad dream. Yessss
Thank U Tim! please teach us "This is the last time" 🙏
Excelente video Tim, un hermoso regalo para los que practicamos piano y a los que disfrutamos tu música alrededor del mundo 👏. Saludos desde Argentina 🙌
I wish I'd had this video 12 years ago, when I played this song for my music class. Now finally I be able to play it the right way. Thank you Tim, you are the best! ❤️ Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
wenaaaa
Wena Hermanos
Qué garrón cuando no encontrás la partitura real de la canción que te gusta... Este video es genial
Am I the only one who sang the song as he played?? What a great tune and lesson!
I love you Tim ❤ always very comforting to come back to this video as it was indeed a rough time for everyone and having your videos really helped to make everything a bit better ❤️
Thank You so much! I don't think You realize what this means to us. I almost cry while watching this. Love from Argentina!
adhiero totalmente
So cool 😄 Thanks for this!
So great Tim. Thank you. Stay safe and well.
Awww Tim thank you for the lesson 💖 Stay healthy 💖
This is fascinating, it makes my dream of snooping over Tim's shoulder come true 😁. Thank you for doing it! I can't help it, I need to request Perfect Symmetry.
Very, very generous and public-spirited of you do this, Tim. This may not be complex like Franz Liszt or even some of the great jazz gospel pianists' harmonies but that doesn't prevent it from being utterly brilliant. Great lyrics and melodies need great accompaniments to become truly great tracks.
YOU have absolutely made one here. Watching you perform on several of the Keane I have had the good fortune to discover in the last few weeks, I had no idea you'd turn out to be such a wonderfully warm person and teacher. What a great combination you and Tom are, as well as the other guys who provide such support. Seems to me you've cracked the chemistry, that magical blend and balance those Liverpool lads had. Respect and nurture it, it's very precious.
Finally, I can have pieces now, thank you 👍👍
great thing about quarantine is this video
1'st of all , i can't even put into words how i feel about this song ! the first time i heard it i was out with my family for a drive and it came on the radio , i Jumped to turn it up after just maybe 5 notes if that , Everything in me Knew i Loved it Right away !
Thank you for teaching this. I would like to learn how to play Everybody's changing 🙏🙌🏼
The piano line isade in heaven......❤
I can not believe, I am learning this song from you. I tried to learned when RUclips beggan and barely I could find a tutorial. I am a big fan from México. Thank you very much, it means so much to me.
I think i speak for everyone when i say you should do all of hopes & fears 😁🤣
😅☺️
Isn’t He the cutest teacher ? Thanks a lot Tim! Hope to see you guys soon on stage! And for the song It would be lovely to learn how to play “I’m not leaving” or any other song from Cause and effect ;)
I was playing the bass to this and stumbled across this piano tutorial…..what a modest guy Tim is.Brilliant.
Thank you Tim! So kind of you to share how to play your beautiful song with us. "Oh simple thing!" indeed. See you soon in New York City (and please play Your Eyes Open for Sara when you come! 😉)
Thanks for the video, i'm trying to play this with my guitar at home, i like your music since i was 13 years old, greetings from Italy, God Bless you and the band.
I got it! Thank you very much Tim for your kindness of sharing your wisdom with us. Cheers from Iceland!!
Qué mejor que aprenderla desde su autor. Thank you Tim, we'd be very grateful if you do more tutorials, specially for Everybody's Changing.
Lots of love from Chile 🇨🇱 it was a pleasure to see you guys live in the capital Santiago.
A great gift because of your own advices. This title means a lot for me, musics are the book of our lives, and this title represents a special part of my life. I "lost" persons for different reasons. Black burning heart has the same effect too. These two titles remind me of especially my Aunt Monique.
Nice to see you have matured Tim into a fine man. Love the song as i do all of them. Brilliant.
It would be great to have a lesson on "Myth" or "Black burning heart" (acoustic version). That'd be a dream come true.
Your sound on the piano has always been the mark of you..thank you Tim
OMG good reason for me to start studying piano again. This is coolest piano class ever! Thank you so much! SOWK is one of the loveliest existing songs on Earth and the first I one I fell in love from Keane songs. Bunches of love to you!
Thanks a lot for this máster class Many years without playing the piano ...from university. I really like to see chords that clearly distinguish the keane sound. Regards
thanks Tim, will surely try this one out. all the best from the Philippines
Bend and break :D haha but you have to teach us how to move and almost hit ouserlves with the piano too haha ⚡ wanna loose it out when I play, like you do hahaha
You are an inspiration for me... Thank you so much for show us how it is this magical song. I almost cried in the end of the video because of the emotion that i felt thanx to you.
Thank you! This song is the reason I bought a piano all those years ago,.❤️
The greatest lesson with detailed explanations for a beautiful song that I have not stopped loving since I first heard it.
Thank you so much, Tim!
10:40 - I'm in love with this final A9

The best teacher we could have ❤️
Strange times indeed ... but hope you guys are doing good! And also everyone reading this! Thanks for this lesson and all your beautiful music! Stay safe everyone.
Tim is really a Master of the piano and that's why Chris Martin wanted him to join Coldplay at the beggining
Love this. Tim is differently level. Absolute Genius!!
Leaving this here so when someone comments I will come back and watch this again! 😀
Muy dear Tim, it's so nice to see you again. Love all the songs you've created. We know you've had some rough times, but nice to see you well. We'll be waiting for more piano videos and the stories you'd like to share with us your fans. Good bless you!!!
Amazing tutorial Tim, thanks so much. It would be awesome if you did a tutorial of Bedshaped, the piano on that song is just beautiful
❤❤❤Thank you so much Tim. I am a big fan of Keane, your way of playing the piano always reminded of supertramp :)
I love that song... Thanks Tim for the tutorial...
This is amazing, thank you so much Tim! Any future tutorials are appreciated but 'Everybody's changing' or 'Silenced by the night' would be fantastic
Thanks Tim. Im saving the video so i can learn to play the song. But im also waiting for a Keane Live. Each one at home. For now my love to all and Stay Safe ♥♥♥♥
Exceptionally talented Tim, Bravo!! Hearing you play the piano, and listening to Tom in Blackpool around 2002 (Supporting Travis) I was hooked. Still the very best support act I’ve ever seen in my life, and naturally now you are my favourite band. Stay safe, and Thankyou so much for being so amazing xx
Thank you so much, you have the best piano tutorials. Very quick and very easy. Thanks
Thank you very much for this video. My band is beginning to do Somewhere Only We Know and this tutorial helps me a lot! Thanks again!
I can't believe this is the actual artist teachung us this perfect song. Thank you for doing this!
My favorite of all time...
One of the best pianos I've heard in Keane's music is Russian Farmer's song. What an underestimated song! :-) How about a tutorial on this song?
Thanks for making our lockdown days better! You're second to none, guys! All my love and appreciation!
Me to Russian Farmer is awesome.
Thanks Tim!
Surely my son Franco will play it soon on his piano!
Beautifull!!!
Todavía me veo a mis 18 años viendo tutoriales en YT para tocar este tema en el teclado, prácticamente lo saqué de oído y lo que me gustaba era eso, que era simple! Soy tu fan, Tim! Gracias!
Thank you so much for sharing this! Decided to look up a tutorial yesterday for your beautiful song- wasn't expecting to find you doing the teaching!
Tim, thank goodness you've posted this. There are so many "versions" on the net and none seem to work! I've sent the link to this to our keyboard player and advised her to learn this prompto! Wonderful to see the writer of a song walking through the structure. My suggestion for next up is The Frog Prince!
Ein wirklich sympathischer und bescheidener junger Mann. Ich bin Musiklehrer, meine SuS wollten den song singen und ich denke, meine SuS haben Geschmack bewiesen.
Long time ago I try to learn playing piano, I'm trying again, thanks for sharing Tim, I'm going to do my best. I love this song and is also my mother's favorite song.♥️♥️♥️
I have been playing piano 2 years and first time for me and I am 54. I will keep working on this. thanks Keane!
Thanks Tim!! Much love.
