I love this song so much, as well as Everybody's Changing. It just grips my heart in a way that I could not put into words. Aug 2021, and still listening.
I have no words for how much I love this band. They must have done this song hundreds, maybe thousands of times. But they play & sing it each time like it's the first time.
"This could be the end if everything, so why don't we go somewhere only we know." I think of my darling husband when I hear this song. He passed away suddenly 12 years ago this month. The missing never goes away but then, neither does the love.
His voice hasn't changed a single bit since their first single. His ability to sing live, however, seems to have improved every single year between then and now. What a vocalist.

Such a beautiful song, and forever linked in my mind to the time period when my marriage was dying. A time of surprise, despair, and ultimately the realization that I had been naive and now had to grow up.
Let me describe how this song makes me feel: You come back to your elementary school playground as a middle-aged adult. Both the school and the playground are a bit decrepit, but still functional. You then sit on the swing where you and your friends/classmates used to play during recess or after school. The chains creak as you try to swing a bit. You remember how excited you were as your best buddy pushes you up the swing so you can get higher. You then remember that most of your friends and classmates, most have families, some are no longer with you and have passed away early. You remember those happy carefree days. Then you snap back to the present, realizing that those moments would never come back, and would simply remain as memories. I love Keane, and especially this song.
I’m 43 lost my radio job this year lost my beautiful lady but right now before I go to chef at work after months of heartache I’m dancing around my kitchen with gos bless you simple things
So gentle, so desperate, so heartfelt . . . breaks my heart every time I hear it. Thanks for this, I really needed it! Only Keane sings this song best.
He has that special sound of urgency when singing “ singing please please please… come back and sing to me” and that is what nails it for me every time
Tears. This performance is absolutely gorgeous. He sounds perfect. This rendition has to be my favorite, even better than the original. "I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin" This line hits home for me. Absolutely heart wrenching.
I lost my friend last year and this is one of his favorites. He used to play this song when he is still alive. Every time I hear this song it reminds me if him.
