My previous post I brought two 12v 200w lithium batteries (kepworth make) Chinese made UPDATE Well these run My fridge freezer My wifi box with my cctv camera As well as my air fryer 30 minutes use 1400w. It recharges my 4 AGMs during the day when they drop to 60% Also recharges my tablet and mobile phone. And the past two days we hav3 had very little sun on my balcony so they have had no daytime charging 25w max input on my MPPT. They get hourly voltage check over this weekend as i was home and the voltage hasn't dropped below 26v. Hope this little update makes sense
Hi, I got the Bluetooth version of this, and the Bluetooth now won't connect a few days later, any ideas please? I have discharged but it still will not connect 😕
@DCGUY hi, I have done both, it was over 50% charge when it disconnected, I have discharged then recharged still nothing tried deleting the app and re downloading it on multiple devices nothing seems to work
Do you think the Bluetooth is separate from the bms? Or would it be one unit? Is it a bms issue do you think? The battery still seems to be charging fine but I obviously cannot monitor what's going in or out properly 🤔
@kirsty6543 I haven't seen the internals but almost all BT modules are separate units that are connected by a plug to the BMS. You may need to sweep the battery up close use Bluetooth search function on your phone, not the App and see if it gets detected. Failing this the only option would be to contact the company and see what support they give. Please let us know what happens.
@DCGUY thank you, that's possibly why the Bluetooth will not connect but the battery still seems to charge, I might send it back for a replacement if I'm honest, i cannot find any videos with anyone opening the bluetooth versions, otherwise i may have attempted it. I have tried to search on Bluetooth (not on the app) and it will not show at all, it's like it has tripped out and you cannot find the device, nightmare, not much information available for the Bluetooth ones, I will keep you updated! Aside from the Bluetooth not working I do think it is a good battery!
Great video never seen a charge port like that on the side of the battery. It will be interesting to see how the capacity test turns out. A lot of these batteries seem to come with rubbish baddly made chargers that get very hot fairly quickly. With LFP I've found its best to use a charger with a metallic case with a decent fan unless you don't want to risk burning your charger up over time keep the videos coming.
Really appreciate your support. Thank you so much. Its the 1st battery I've seen with "extra's". Bit gimmicky for me but probably useful for others. The "free" charger that came with the battery actually put out 7 amps, but I only tried it for a moment. It is cheap and yes I will stay with my Victron.
Hi, great review. Did you discover if it has low temperature protection on the BMS? I know that some of these batteries prevent charging when the temperature drops too low, but many do not have this feature.
hello, I saw that your first video about this battery was made a year ago. how has the battery fared? I'm interested in buying that battery, but I'm wondering if it's a good purchase.
I used it for several months, no issues to report. I only sacrificed a cell as I'd damaged it during my teardown, but it was working fine. Be interesting to see the newer version 😀
@dmitrijit5851 unfortunately not. You can make a DIY battery heater or if your solar controller has the option to stop charge at low temperature. You will find info on battery heating at www.dcguy.co.uk
Hello! Please tell me whether the indicator on the charger indicates the battery is fully charged. Does the indicator always light up red or change color to green when charging is complete?
My own shows a red light when charging and goes green when charged and the fan stops at that point too. If yours is red and the fan is still running then it is still charging
@@DCGUY Thank you very much for your answer! One more question: Do I need to press the power button on the battery near the charging and USB connector when connecting a standard charger? I read people's opinions that without turning on this button, charging is impossible. Is it so?
Thank you for your review, I am now going to buy one. I am a absolute novice if I buy one from China please could I ask what the import tax and Vat was or round abouts. Many thanks geoff
Hi thanks for watching and taking time to comment. I bought mine from aliexpress ( should be a link in the video ) and they had uk based stock, so no taxes. They are also doing a version with Bluetooth as well I believe. Take a look at the eco worthy and ultramax battery too. The eco worthy go on sale often but its what you can afford that matters.
I need a battery with these dimensions, surely with 19cm high. Good or bad I have no other options. Under the passenger seat of my rv I have room for 2 batteries in parallel and the max height is 19.5cm. any suggestions? Maybe a better battery brand with the same dimensions? I'm all ears. :-) thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment 🙏 it's appreciated. For an RV, you'd be better using a self heating battery if your RV ever sees freezing temperatures. They are expensive compared to other non heated units. Renogy are OK, bad customer service. SOK expensive as are victron. You could perhaps consider building your own custom battery? Not knowing where you are located makes it difficult to suggest a particular battery, so many options out there depending where you are in the world 🌎
Hi since last talked in the comments I have installed 3 24v 100ah batteries in parallel. My question is how many of these can I put in parallel. Ideally I would like 6. Do you think this can be done? I know nothing about BMS many thanks in advance
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this as I don't know what BMS they are using. As a general rule of thumb many manufacturers suggest a max of 4 in parallel but that's probably them not wanting liability. I'd contact the manufacturer/ supplier and ask for the BMS data as well as your question. I currently have 4 12v 100ah in parallel but I also have a MRBF on each positive rated at 100 amps and a T class fuse as my last resort. The issue is the BMS. Should it fail open, which is usually unlikely in normal circumstances, I do tend to err on the side of caution.
Thank you for doing this disassembly, I'd been considering one of these, but ended up buying an Ultramax 100ah Lifepo4 instead. I've yet to see anyone review, let alone strip an Ultramax, but hopefully it's a slightly better made battery. Was thinking about saving a few quid and buying a Kepworth to make a 24v system, but is it a bad idea to mix different brands of Lifepo4? My gut says probably ⚡
Thank you for watching and taking time to comment 🙏 You raise a great question 👍 mixing different brands of lifepo4 while technically possible if you know what cells and battery management systems are utilised, it isn't generally advised. If for example Ultramax are simply a rebranded Eco-worthy and I'm not saying they are, but if so you could presume same BMS and cells are used so compatible with each other. But that's the problem, a consumer isn't going to open a battery or perhaps have the knowledge to identify these things properly. Then there's the warranty issues. So best to stick to the brands you know and trust. I'm doing a video on ultramax and renogy 100ah batteries in the near future.
@@DCGUYThank you, that's good advice. I will buy another Ultramax fairly soon, if the one I own continues to perform well. I went for the Kepworth 12v 100Ah for a trial into these batteries, USB ports a nice bonus as was the included charger, I'm not too bothered about the absolute quality of the cells TBH as lifepo4 is sort of safe, stable and pretty durable from what I've been led to believe, my application is not critical. It will be feeding an inverter mainly. Very lightweight gets a bit of getting used to and opens up further usage possibilities, so looking forward to using it as much as possible, also I think I could fit a new BMS if I had to from what I've seen in the tear down if it fails.
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment 🙏 Yes these lifepo4 cells are safe, I took one and drilled the heck out of it, it did get warm but no fire and that's all I cared about.
Hi thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Good question, maybe the 3 pin was what they had available as it only used 2 one for live and other neutral.
Hi, thanks for watching and taking time to comment. There are are various online calculation sources and methods but they all require you fully charge the battery, then discharge at a set rate eg 10 amps DC @ 12v (120w) should give 10 hours with a 100ah lifepo4 ( 5 hours lead acid). I use a shunt as well as a battery tester from AliExpress DL24M 600w tester or a single 180w tester. Atorch store.
Search "kepworth" there is a another video (French language). The guy explains that this battery is poor quality and does not hold charge after only 4 months use. It uses poor quality pouch cells.
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment 🙏 it's appreciated. It's something of a lottery with budget brands using grade b cells, I'm still trialing this battery but so far so good. Time will tell.
@@DCGUY Just an update, I purchased the Kepworth 120ah for my Trolling Motor and its been absolutely golden, no problem at all with it. Paid extra for the 120ah and all good so far.
Yes, pouch cells look the same but the battery chemistry is totally different. If they were lipo cells I would not have them in the house. I used to use lipo with rc stuff and those things are volatile and highly combustible.
