    One thing BTSX does that I don't like is hiding nearly every single secret from the map. It's not a Vader thing, it's a project-wide decision, because it appears again in episode 2.
    Anyway, yeah, Metal Mothers is solid. It's always fun to make itsy-bitsy spiders wash each other out 😆 And the music, Conductor, is a big time comp by Jimmy. Even the mandatory Manc for that map07 tag magic is fun to find. I have no complaints, really.

    Its a common occurrence in this WAD. They really want you to find the secrets by exploring with little to no help from the map. It did make for some frustrating moments in my personal run. I did have to end up looking a lot of them up. There's only so much wall humping one can do! 😄

      Yep, it's very frustrating. So much so that when I wrote down the episode 2 secrets, I used IDDT very liberally.
      Still not as annoying as Doom 64 Retribution secrets, though. At least in BTSX the secrets are marked by sector tags, not things placed in the sector. The latter doesn't appear on the automap no matter what you do.

    This looked like a fun map. I must have stopped playing before this one because I don't remember ever seeing it. I really dig that hidden manc secret! Also impressive that you didn't have to go item hunting with such a high count. (158!) But yeah, annoying that secrets aren't on the map at all, even with the automap item.

    Easily my favourite MIDI in all of BTSX 1; Conductor has such a powerful synth smack that makes your foot tappa-tappa. Love it! No idea why they chose to hide secret areas from the map, pretty silly IMHO. Makes the area map completely useless if you use it for secret finding.

    route: root vs rowt, people all over say it both ways, it just depends on where you learned it, both pronunciations are valid. so, say it however you like and no apology needed.

    The word is pronounced "route" rhyming with out in the South in the US. Yankees call it "root." Yankees also don't know how to make proper BBQ, so there you go.

    Is ultra-violence + an optional difficulty for you on this mod? I’m guessing it’s similar to the suicidal tendencies difficulty with complex doom, but holy frijoles is it difficult! 🤯

      To my knowledge, true Ultra-Violence plus only exists on the Unity port of Doom, this difficulty adds co-op item spawns and co-op monster spawns, but it also gives monsters the fast flag, making them attack as if it were on Nightmare difficulty, but they don't respawn. In other ports, such as the one here (DSDA), you launch the game with the -coop_spawns to enable co-op monsters and items, but if you wanted true ultra violence plus you would also use the -fast command to make the monsters fast.

      In my opinion, Unity kind of ruined the UV+ definition :( Before its release, UV+ meant UV with coop enemies. But for some reason, the Unity port decided to also add fast monsters, which makes it somewhat confusing. So I'm aware this isn't actual UV+ according to the new definition, but I can't think of a better way to title the video (it's already near the max character limit, and '+ co-op' doesn't sound nearly as good). Plus, I'm simply not sure if I agree with the Unity port being able to randomly change the definition like that. Weird situation aaaaaaaaa

      ​@@Vytaan I've heard UV with multiplayer things described as UV-solonet. But I agree, Unity dropped the ball with that denomination and I disown it entirely.
