      I'm like that in most cases, but I have really hate how a story is going and I have to buy the books to read them, it will go unread, because books are expensive enough without me wasting money on ones I don't enjoy.

    I don't think there's any series that I'm not planning on finishing (yet). I'm stuck in that mindset of "I have to finish the series or else," even if I don't like the books that much.

      Crayonfactory I'm exactly the same, I've got lots of books series as presents for birthday and Christmas so I also feel compelled to read them as I don't want people to have wasted their money. I've definitely been done with books but powered through.

    • @crayonfactory6340
      @crayonfactory6340 7 лет назад

      Chloe Styles I know that feeling. My family used to get me books that you'd find in the grocery store and though they're almost always outside of my interests I read them anyway. My dad got me a history book while he was on a trip and he was so excited for me to read it that I would've felt bad if I didn't. Luckily it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

    • @chloestyles3300
      @chloestyles3300 7 лет назад

      Crayonfactory aw it's always a nice thought but grocery store books are...well pretty bad. Oh good you can't let him down so you had to read it. I hope you at least learnt some history facts 😂

    • @chloestyles3300
      @chloestyles3300 7 лет назад

      Ashley Kendall yeah that's true you get some good books from series but yeah I've found a lot of weird erotic books too, I got one once about vampires couldn't get past the first page 😬

    • @crayonfactory6340
      @crayonfactory6340 7 лет назад

      Chloe Styles Yeah, one of the books I got one time I had to refuse to finish because it got very.. explicit. I thought I could just skip that and be fine but this was one of those pages-long obviously no one buys this for the story type of books so I just got rid of it.

      Jon Snow [Targaryen] [DAKINGINDANORF] Personally, I loved the first two books, but I'm a little meh about the rest of them. I still want to finish them because I've grown attached to a lot of the characters and the action scenes are really well written. The biggest downside about these books for me is some of the problematic behavior of some of the main characters. I really don't like the way they act but I still find them worth the read, cause they're still very entertaining.

    • @jonsnow8756
      @jonsnow8756 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I'm into the last few chapters of the first book and I'm starting to enjoy it more and more now. I think the thing that pissed me off the most about the book was the constant reminder that Celaena is supposed to be the best assassin *_ever_* and how she could do __ if she wanted to yet not actually displaying any behaviours or actions of an assassin. She acts more like a noble lady and is more worried about love and her looks. But once I began to ignore this idea, I began to like the book. Hopefully it gets better.

    • @makarisland
      @makarisland 7 лет назад

      (I'm putting a minor spoiler alert here, in case you're really cautious about spoilers)
      Kind of funny for you to point that out, I never thought about it, but you've opened my eyes xD
      Btw, for me personally, I liked the fact that we had a badass female character who also liked clothes, reading and all that stuff. There's nothing wrong with being a "tomboy", in fact I enjoy characters like that, but I also appreciated that Throne of Glass kind of broke that majority of those kind of character for me.

    • @jonsnow8756
      @jonsnow8756 7 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I personally didn't find her very badass. Maybe there was a tiiiiiiiny bit of badass in her blood but for me it was barely noticeable. This is probably because I've read books like _The Song of Ice and Fire_ series where even some of the very feminine females, or females who aren't supposed to be badass in a physical type of way are stronger than Celeana. I felt like Celeana was a character fashioned by an author who wanted to please young female readers. Idk?

      I really liked the second book (Pandemonium), but I agree that the third book is not good and the ending is very unsatisfying. I loved the writing style though, and enjoyed the little poem-like passage at the end (although it doesn't count as a proper ending!!).

    • @mckenziestaley9063
      @mckenziestaley9063 7 лет назад +1

      I actually didn't enjoy the second or third book. I felt a disconnect from all the characters and it just didn't do it for me. But I agree that the ending is not an ending. I'm alright with an open ending, but it just didn't fit well. I felt like there needed to be another book.

      I loved the Delirium series, but I can also see your point and I was a bit disapointed with the ending because I expected a bit more but I found that as you continued to read the rest of the books, you could find out so much more about the backgrounds of the characters. The writing style was great and I loved the creativity and the poetic feelings, especially in the first book. In my opinion, I did not enjoy Pandemonium as much but I found that the first book was better and I think that nearly all the characters were great and well established.

    So the series I don't see me ever finishing (but I might change my mind) is honestly any of Cassandra Clare's books. I don't know why per say... I read City of Bones and I enjoyed it a lot and I have the first of the other series... clockwork... something? I couldn't get into that and by the time I could get my hands on the second book to City of Bones I had lost interest. I couldn't understand the hype and didn't want to read it anymore. I actually like the Cassandra Clare's books, I have read all of them and liked all of them. But the thing was, is that the chapters that did contain good content were buried between chapters that dragged on and on without progress.
      And this might come as a shocker to you, but really I would say the series really isn't worth trying to force yourself to read because the books were unnecessarily long. If some of the chapters that just dragged on were taken out, then I would say the series was worth reading.
      I'm sorry if this is confusing. I'm not a "let me explain what I mean" type of person.

      I totally understand that, Maria. One thing I've noticed this year is that I'm just not as willing to force myself through books as I used to be (and that's okay, too - changing reading tastes and all that). I think the important thing is just knowing what we do like to read. I know lots of people love Clare's books and that's great - I have no issue with that at all! :)

      And I totally agree with you. And you shouldn't have to force yourself to read something you're not interested in, because that just takes away time that you could be spending on books you are interested in.

      while jessie talked about it, quarantine reaaallllyyyyy reminded me of the plot to a netflix original series called between, in which a small town gets infected by a virus that kills everyone older than like 22 i believe and the government (wait for it) quarantined the whole town and left those who survived to basically fend for themselves... its a really interesting series and it holds an uncanny resemblance to the little bit i heard of the plot to this book, quarantine. hahahaha

      TheStephano619 what book were you last on? There is one of the books that people get stuck on and it makes sense not to finish.

      I liked the first book okay, but the second was a flop for me!

      THE MOVIE WAS TERRIBLE! Two thirds of the movie didn't even make any sense. Believe me when I say the book was WAY BETTER than the movie.
      But I have read the Beautiful Creatures series. I think it is worth reading. The 1st book was good. The 2nd, meh, not so much. The series did pick up a little in the third book. And I think the 4th was even better. But these are just my opinions.

      Mira Hunter sorry But I hate the series like anything. All the characters in Rick Riordan's world are always regretting about one thing or the other. Percy regrets his mum's abduction and blames himself for it, Anabeth thinks she's responsible for Thalia's misfortune of being turned into a tree, while Grover thinks it's his mistake. The series is clearly written for children who are below the age of 12

      Mira Hunter I've finished it somehow. It's just a rip off of Harry Potter. I'll explain you how.
      1. The main characters in the series consist of 2 boys and a girl. Just like HP series.
      2. Hermione in HP is the smart one, you know who's smart in PJ.
      3. Percy isn't a smart person but is good in battling just like Harry.
      4. Grover is timid and so is Ron.
      5. Harry has invisibility cloak while Anabeth has cap of invisibility.
      6. Smelly Gabe is unkind to Percy just like the Dursleys.
      7. Camp Half Blood is just like Hogwarts. Just hidden by mist instead of enchantments.
      8. Luke dies a hero despite being a villain in almost the whole story, just like Snape of course.
      9. In Sea of Monsters, CHB is at the risk of closing, just like the second book in HP, Chamber of Secrets.
      10. PJ series is based on a prophecy made by the oracle. Just like HP again.
      Whatever you say, PJ is just a lazy work and Americanised HP version of Rick Riordan

    I probably won't finish the young elites trilogy. I didn't really like the first one all that much but still decided to try the second one to give it another chance and I ended up hating it even more than the first one so I will probably not read the last one :(
