Stabilizers For My Wife

- I got these support bars for my Winnebago View to drastically reduce the swag and rocking in our RV while stopped for the night. Most of the time, the rocking is not a problem, but then sometimes it is. Why didn't I try this sooner? Light weight, inexpensive, and easy to use. What more can you ask for? Still married after 44 years and counting.

Man, I wish I had wife stabilzers when I was younger!
Money saved, wife happy, life back in order!! Well done Ron!!
Ron you inspired me. I found these on Amazon 85 for the pair. They hold 185 lbs and measure 23”-45”. Thanks alot
Outimate support pole. Won’t let me post a picture of them
I wish you were my neighbor
❤️❤️
Hi Ron - we have rear stabilizers that just don't seem to be enough - would this work in the front anywhere?
2 thoughts. Firstly I don’t think there is a good place up front to mount them. However, if your current stabilizers are not good enough then adding these might help as they all add up. I would not expect a great improvement unless the current stabilizers are very weak. I expect in practice it would take some experimenting to get the best results.
Do you still use these and if so how have the worked over the last 2 years. Thinking of making a set for my Jayco Melbourne 24L. Thanks
Yes i use them when my wife is with me. Especially when we will be in one place for more than a day. I also use them when windy even in a Walmart parking lot. No issues. They are pretty simple and wok well.
Hi Ron
Did you put one in both wheel wells or did one do the trick? Love the solution
I use both. More reliable.
Great idea Ron! Going to try this out for next season. Thanks for the video.
Hi Ron, what was the final length of the bar when not extended? I have the same RV as you do, where and which model is the bar? Thx.
Around 2-1/2 feet. I store them in first compartment under the slide. I believe i put the link in the description.
@@ontheroadwithron2432 yes I saw the brand in your video. FYI, on Amazon the same ones are sold for $38 each; whereas at the website of the actual brand, they cost way more. Thanks again.
@@ontheroadwithron2432 I just finished shortening the same brand of cargo bars in your video. They work like a charm. Thanks again Ron.
Wouldn't it be easier just to leave her at home?
Well, yes I've done that but its also nice to have company on the road.
@@ontheroadwithron2432 Just kidding of course. Had many, many RVs in my 62 years. Just purchased a garage kept Fleetwood Pulse and I am enjoying your videos. Thanks for all of the great information Ron.
Do you think there is a risk of putting the rear factory stabilizers down (supporting some of the RV weight), then putting these supports on, then raising the factory stabilizers without removing these - causing too much force on the area above the wheels. BTW: Always great tips Ron. I have implemented almost all of your improvements. Thanks as always.
If you already have stabilizers, don’t think these will have as much effect but if you try them let me know how it works. I would use factory one first and than add these. Do not raise factory ones after that.
Ah. I thought the stabilizers were stock on all of these. The factory stabilizers work well, but I went ahead and got a pair of these temporary jacks since I could use them for a few other non-RV projects as well. They still helped a good amount in addition to the far rear factory stabilizers.
I love your channel... im new to the rv world but your videos really help out
Enjoy. Rvs are never boring.
Thanks Ron
Found a few on Craigslist from a moving company. Cut them to size and now that coach is rock solid.
Great mod! Your wife is beautiful and you are a great team. Thanks for sharing❤️
A great father, grandfather, handyman, all around good fellow and husband. Especially, with no more sea sickness! Good job!!!
What a great tip.
Great channel! Thanks for all the tips and tricks.
Happy wife, happy life.
Way to go, Ron! You're a hero in your wife's eyes (if you weren't already)!
Happy wife - happy life!! We used to own a boat and when it STOPS rockin', you are in deep shit!!! It doesn't bother us . . . Knew an RVer who lost his windshield when he turned on the automatic levellers, while a long way out of level. Be careful . . .
Thanks for the idea. Happy thanksgiving 🦃🍽
Super idea and, After fabrication, they seem to be really easy to use. The issue for me is than I am Not Handy! Also, buying something and then cutting it up concerns me. Exactly what length of this product should be purchased that would Not required these modifications if any?
I don’t know of anything you can buy that is the correct size. You might ask some friends if they would help you by cutting the tubes to size.
Hi Ron, are you seeing any wear and tear in the wheel wells at all?
I just made a set and they really do help.
Thanks for all the GREAT videos.
No problems so far. Don’t expect any either.
Outstanding idea, thanks.
I would be a bit concerned that with time you will split a seam of the rear fender liner to the body or floor pan sheetmetal. In working on my recently acquired Winnebago Era I have noticed that a fair amount of seam sealer is used in this area both as a structural adhesive and to keep water out. At least that is what I see on my 2012 Sprinter 3500 chassis. Opening up a path for water to get in could cause lots of future issues. Would a location at the rear, maybe at each end of the trailer hitch work?
I enjoy your videos and have gotten some great tips.
I plan on keeping an eye on this, but only use then for short periods of time and don't expect any issues.
Hey Ron is this still working good? I think I have my hubby talked into making me one to stabilize our 2012 view. The rocking makes me feel like I am on a boat!
Yes they seem very sturdy.
@@ontheroadwithron2432 my hubby just made me one and can’t wait for a road trip to try out. In the driveway it seems to help. Er are going with only one on the passenger side rear wheel well. Thanks for the idea, I know exactly how your wife was feeling!
Happy Wife, Happy Life.
Do you need one for each rear wheel well. Love your videos Ron
Yes 2 total.
Wish I knew this 3 years ago when we had HWH's installed on our 2017 View. Would have saved $4,500.
Other than the expense and added weight, seems most people seem to like them. Very high end stuff.
@@ontheroadwithron2432 Yes the one touch in the rain and lack of need for leveling blocks are pluses. That said they have limits on sloped spots and can be finicky. Had to go back to installer twice for readjustment.
@@MrRemphoto Just wish they didn't cost so much.
Good to see you back
Haven’t been using the RV much with this virus around. Making more videos on my Tesla channel.
